IMO Why Max Hall is not just another rookie

Most often a "rookie" QB coming straight out of college is a must sit for a year unless he is the only QB or the franchise needs to sell tickets. IMO Max Hall is a different breed, he comes from the Quarterback factory that is BYU who runs a pro style west coast offense. There is no gimmick routes or 80% shoutgun.

Max Hall will turn 25 oct 1st which makes him a little older and more mature then most rookie QB. He is a humble down to earth guy and has the deamenor that reminds me of Kurt Warner who by the way has given praise to max hall. He is a leader and looks like he commands the respect of his teamates and takes control. If by some chance he does need to start after the bye week I would be fine with that and feel comfortable with him leading this team and who knows maybe he will be KW 2.0.

I feel more than comfortable with Max at QB.

He is a rookie and he will make mistakes. But he will also make plays.

Also a rookie doesn't usually take over a team that has all the weapons the Cards have. Typically a rookie would inherit a BAD team.

By this Thursday's game he knew he was done in AZ and had the look of a guy who just didn't care. I don't blame him.

The game in Chicago, though, he looked like a guy who was mad.

Max Hall reminds me alot of Joe Germaine. He came in early, from OSU , and lit it up in pre-season. Both were very accurate smaller guys with good leadership skills. Germaine, I thought was going to be a star, and Vermeil named him the starter for an early season game. I can't remember if it was from injury or that Germain won the job, but after a horrendous game at the "real" NFL level, he was never heard from again and last I heard was playing Arena league ball. I don't know if that will be the case with Hall but let's not put him in the Cards ring of honor just yet.

Did you read Cole's article about Leinart where an anonymous Cardinal was extolling how tough Warner was and how he never complained? To say that Leinart didn't get a fair shake is a cop out. Leinart had four years under Whiz and in that time he was given numerous opportunities to prove his worth and his mettle. The facts are, Leinart squandered most of those opportunities and in the process he did not commandeer the respect of his teammates.

How could anyone watch the pre-season games this year and not be impressed with Max Hall? Early in TC, even before Hall played in the games, he was getting publicity and praise from national reporters such as Chris Mortensen and Peter King. How did he manage that? Well, obviously when they visited camp they thought Hall's play stood out. Do you think they came to Cardinals' camp expecting that?

As for the games themselves, I am not sure what else anyone could have asked from him save the one poor up for grabs interception he threw. Otherwise he was a ready to go catalyst who provided instant energy and spark and moved his team down the field with impressive regularity.

Thus far he's won me over. Count me lined up in his favor. The best news is he's winning the coaches and teammates over, which is a huge step in the right direction.

My take on Hall is that I think he has it but so did Jake Plummer.

The "it" factor is great but will only carry you so far because in the NFL they will claw at every weakness you have until they find one to bury you with.

The key as always is does he have one that bad that they can bury him with?

Two things.

1) I think Hall might be a smarter player than Jake, although Jake was smart enough to make a whole pile of money and still retire with his health.

2) I think Max has more to work with than Jake ever had when he was a Cardinal.
