I think I want us going after Minshew in the offseason as a backup. He's one of the best backups in the league and can give us some cover if we trade Kyler.

Minshew is 6-4 and might lead the Colts to the playoffs. He's either getting a starting gig while a rookie develops or he's going to be one of the highest paid backups in the league for a rookie.

Likely to get $12m+ as a backup.

Not to mention Kyler hasn’t had a healthy Hollywood or Wilson this season lol. They’re both been Nagging injuries so not 100% and it’s damn clear when you watch them trying to play! Has a new TE that is good and look how well that’s going and he trusts him. No WR can say the same as they all pretty much suck right now!
Yeah, it's hard to argue with that.

If there's even a question in the front office on being tempted to trade Kyler, I bring him in.

Ha. Kyler's best team couldn't even clinch a gift-wrapped playoff berth. Had to back into the playoffs and then give us the most embarrassing playoff loss ever.
Missing a few details.

Kyler's team lost its #1 WR. RBs Conner and Edmonds both were in and out the lineup to end the season. Then after an impressive win vs the Cowboys the Cardinals were positioned to once again play and beat the Cowboys in the playoffs. Instead the coach treated the final game of the season vs the Seahawks as a preseason game. It backfires and kills momentum. Cardinals proceeded to face the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams instead of the yearly disappointing Cowboys.

Jeebus, talk about trying to absolve the most important player on the field of absolutely all blame. Kyler freaking SUCKED down the stretch. He had chance after chance after chance and flubbed every single one. Then he flubbed the playoff game and pouted about it while his fellow player was down. There is absolutely nothing defensible about Kyler down the stretch that year, and no excuse. If it were one game, sure. It clearly wasn't.

Kyler was shell shocked, threw a pick six falling down in his own end zone, and then refused to finish the game.

Nothing I said went against him being awful in the playoff game.

Tom Brady's QBR was 16 against the Rams. And thats the GOAT. Kyler was horrendous without his #1 WR against an all time great defense. Is saying he was without Hopkins incorrect?

Again you are reading out of it what you want to read. Nothing about it said he wasnt terrible in the playoff game. BIM left out other important details to make it more complete what happened.

Kyler was subpar down the stretch of the season once Hopkins was injured. And awful in the playoff game.

Kyler was awful and lets leave it that is such a limited take without any nuance. But hey if ignoring the fact we treated the Seahawks game like a preseason game is giving Kyler a pass then I dont know what to tell you. That was an organizational failure to risk putting yourselves in a position to play the Rams a third time.

We agree then my friend.

The end of that season and that game specifically are still a sore subject for me.
it is. But how we ended up there was an organizational failure.

We just assumed the Rams were automatically winning the 49ers game and didnt take the week as serious.

I was still confident cause Kyler was one of the few QBs that played well against the Rams that year. And yet it ended up being his worst game.

And we were missing how many starters? And our Oline looked like the staring cast from “The Replacements” staring Keanu Reeves vs the best line in the league that won the SuperBowl. Kyler was @$$ but come on dude, a little context

I'd love to see Maye play with a fraction of the talent Lawrence had at Clemson.

It wasn't as significant as I thought it might be (last year of college).

Outside of Etienne - meh.

He's had teams just as talented as Palmers, but Palmer has one more playoff win than Kyler and the boat-race of the NFC Championship game is almost as embarrassing as Kyler's playoff loss.

It's still frankly amazing that Carson Palmer is in the ROH.

Kyler's 26 now and a terrible pocket passer. The only time he looks good is when he's on the move. As his physical skills start to decline, why would you think he'd play better?

Palmer went 38-21-1 in 60 games. He threw for nearly 17,000 yards, 105 TD, 57 INT’s and a 91.1 passer rating. If you take out the first half of his first season here he’s basically a 100 passer rating for the rest of his tenure. He won a playoff game and finished 2nd in MVP voting in 2015. It’s not like we have the QB history of the 49ers here…

And what’s your excuse for him totally crapping the bed the year before, with Hopkins healthy when we were 6-3 and looking like a lock to make the playoffs, but then he collapsed in the second half of the season yet we STILL had a chance to clinch at 8-6, playing the ATROCIOUS 49ers (4-12 that year and playing their entire JV lineup) AT HOME and still embarrassingly wet the bed. Or the next week against the Rams with a chance to again clinch against freaking Wofford and Kyler got a boo boo and then stunk again?

Yeah… Palmer in the ROH really speaks more to how bad our QBs have historically been then how incredible he was.

We had like 4 or 5 chances to clinch a playoff spot and lost every clinching game we played. It wasn't a game or two or due to injury. We couldn't beat the Little Sisters of the Poor if it meant clinching a playoff spot. Then we sucked balls in the playoffs including the shortest pick-six in playoff history by our transcendent little QB.

No position is harder to rate than QB. Sure there are a bunch of QBs I’ve reviewed who were easy to project failure. Often a fatal flaw is evident. Like every position there are a few overachievers who are hard to spot. Essentially guys who should fail but somehow overcome issues that have sunk dozens of other QBs. Bradshaw was the classic example.

There are also a few factors that a rare QB excels at to such a degree that they succeed. Warner didn’t have a great arm, but was one of the best at sizing up a defensive alignment and calling an audible to a winning play. Watch some YouTube on Fran Tarkenton. If you like Murray’s elusiveness you’ll love Tarkenton. He had a mediocre arm but he found ways to make plays.

That elusive factor alone might make you expect I’d put Murray in that class. However, he’s too fragile to run consistently. He’d never last. So what’s the deal with Murray? Is he a franchise QB? As many of you know I talk with numerous well-placed people. Questions about Murray are my most frequent interrogatives. The bottomline is I don’t know. Why?

Murray began his NFL career with the worst possible coach for Murray’s development. Kingsbury was more a fan than a coach. He constantly ran empty backfields, exposing Murray to continual pressure. Kingsbury made no effort to improve Murray’s mechanics or his ability to read defenses. Kingsbury didn’t insist on Murray using progressions. There was no evidence of teaching Murray how to move in the pocket, the few times one was available.

So I don’t know Murray’s capabilities because in many ways he’s still a rookie. He’s a great runner with enough arm to throw a good tree. He’s simply not polished. Whether he can be after all this time is a major unknown. He’s got the tools, but can he be a game general?

It’s very hard to find an athlete of Murray’s talent level. If you get one, you don’t give up easily. You can teach game management and mechanics, but you can’t teach athleticism. So I want to see another year before I give up on Murray.

It was his best day as a mini-Cam-Newton aka Pouty McPoutFace.
