Why was he on the reservation? Was he keeping it real at an Indian Casino or was he taking the scenic route by the landfill on the Beeline?

65 mph on the 101 isnt worth even mentioning, happens a million times a year without a ticket. the "accused" of DUI thing is weird, as charged is a stronger term and means a court date. The involvement of the indian police on the 101 is also strange.

I wonder if there might be a jurisdiction issue?

I sure hope for his sake, he wasn't intoxicated. Do you think if he is formally charged with a DUI the team will suspend him?

won't miss any games. well maybe a 1 game susp from the nba. not anything to get worried over. as bad as it sounds, dui is turning into a routine traffic citation in arizona, like speeding. honestly, who of us can say theyve never gone to a sports bar, had 2 beers watching the game, and drove home? 2 beers can put you over the limit, especially with the big ones they serve at places like applebee's. happens all the time. just about every one of us has done it. thats a dui my friends.

Holy crap! He was driving 10mph over the limit.

65 mph on the 101 isnt worth even mentioning, happens a million times a year without a ticket.

There is an 8-mile stretch of the 101 that was under construction for the past several months (adding HOV lanes). That construction is completed, but the speed limit is still 55 mph because workers are now working on the shoulders of that same stretch. I've been through there at different times of the day and night and seen workers present - that's why 65 in a 55 is a big deal. Usually it is double fines when workers are present also.

The involvement of the indian police on the 101 is also strange.

I wonder if there might be a jurisdiction issue?

That stretch is on Indian land. I guess they maintain the right to patrol it...?

A similar situation happened with Marbury while he was with the Suns. As I recall, the Suns just let the court take care of it.

Similar - except that Marbury was on a city street going 25 mph over the limit and swerving in and out of his lane.

honestly, who of us can say theyve never gone to a sports bar, had 2 beers watching the game, and drove home?

I've never done that.

If you've had 2 beers (or more), and you're behind the wheel at 2:45am - you can pretty much expect trouble... ;)

Not sure why it takes the worst things to happen before people realize that the worst things happen in the wee hours of the morning... :bang:

Isn't that when the bars close?

Must be the Pistol Club. Drink 'til 2. Piss 'til 4.

But I'm happy to say I've never done that. And I share your concern about the potential danger to human life.

I watched "60 Minutes" yesterday and some states are treating DUI as a very big deal. In some cases where a person is killed (I forgot the States) but offenders are literally getting up to 25 year sentences in prison for "murder." This seems to be the current trend... to treat DUI as a very serious crime. I have a link to the video. Please watch if you haven't seen it. It's really worth it especially if you drink.

You've never watched a game at a sports bar, had a couple beers, then drove home? Or something like that? Really? Honestly? Well, good job. I have.

And if you do...and make a mistake and get pulled over it's going to cost you. If you do and get in a accident where someone is injured or killed, it's really going to cost you. Because you roll the dice and don't get caught doesn't at all change the legality of it. When i was a kid you could get pulled over with open beers and were simply asked to poor them out and get home. Now your going to jail. DUI is a very serious offense in most states these days due to the fatalities involved. Being out and driving after 2am after drinking, with the assests these guys have to employ drivers etc, is just plain STUPID.

But hey... it was only 10 mph over the limit... so why should we care? :bang:

10 miles over isn't usually a big deal on the 101 even at that hour of the morning, although the holiday task forces are pretty touchy. More likely they stopped him for "failure to stay in one lane." Depending on technique, weaving back and forth on the freeway pretty much indicates you're probably loaded.

im not saying u should, im just admitting i have. i think, if we're honest and not alcohol abstainers, we've all had a drink and gotten behind the wheel. Im not saying absolutely hammered and gone driving all over the road. im saying 2 beers at the sports bar and drove home after the game. thats still a dui. especially with the large beers they serve u at applebee's. shoot, one of those would put u over the limit. most people dont realize how easy it is to be over the limit. id say most people (non alcohol abstainer) have done something like this. of course, not the noble, sinless, blameless, infallible, disciples of purity that post on this site.

once again, im not saying u should. im just saying most of us, if being honest, have at one point. it just drives me nuts when people cast stones and have done the same bs

No one is trying to cast stones, at least I'm not. I've made my share of mistakes when young but luckily it didn't cost me or anyone else. However, it gets just plain scary when a first time offender who has a drink or two, gets in the car and gets in accident where someone is killed and the offender goes away for murder and the victim(s) are dead.

This is a new era and it simply is not worth the risk because DUI is now being treated as a serious crime and rightfully so because people are dying. I didn't really get a full grasp of the seriousness of the problem until I watched the "60 minutes" video. I guess this is the whole point. Many people just think they can get away with an occasional infraction when in fact, it can ruin so many lives.

Here is that link again.
