Josh is becoming increasingly more consistent. He played in 10 games in Feb. 7 of those were high quality games where he averaged 20 points and 7 rebounds in roughly 30 minutes. He had one mediocre game with 13 points and 6 rebounds in 30 minutes and 2 bad games averaging 6.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in less than 30.

Having 7 out of 10 very good games is excellent for a rookie. He started out rough but he has turned it around quickly. To be honest, this is about how Devin Booker's rookie year went.

He had a better Feb than Jason Tatum, Kyle Kuzma, or Laurie Markkanen.
He’s arguably been better than them since the start of January. Really been one hell of a turnaround.

yeah... I'm pretty stoked with his progression. The best thing about Josh is that he seems hungry... almost STARVING to get better and we see him continue to attack, even when it's not his night.

I look for him to really improve his jumper in the off-season and ball-handling skills. If he can actually work that shot out, he could be a very, very good player. Maybe even a solid #2, but I think he might be best suited as a GREAT #3, especially if we're able to land a megastud in the draft.

I know it's not going to happen, because we're the Suns... but a young big three of Booker/Jackson/Ayton could be dominant in a couple years.

Josh Jackson has 11 20-point games in his rookie season. He joins #Suns rookies Walter Davis (61), Alvan Adams (37), Richard Dumas (17), Devin Booker (16), Michael Finley (15) and Amar'e Stoudemire (11) with at least that many.

Surprised Amare only had 11, that seems really low. I know he won Rookie of the Year and beat out Yao Ming for that honor, who had a good rookie season of his own. I thought he was a more prolific scorer from the start but he did start averaging 20ppg in his 2nd season. His rookie year he only averaged 13.5 ppg.

Josh Jackson in February: 17.7 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.1 bpg. 0.8 spg, 45.4 FG%
Those are some legit numbers for a rookie. I think Booker’s best month as a rookie he averaged 22 points and 5 assists on 43%, but to be fair he was the #1 option at the time. Jackson could still put together an even better month before the end of the season.

I think we might be witnessing the light switch turning on.

Davis was fantastic... far and away the best Suns rookie ever. And still the smoothest jumpshooter I have ever seen.

That list is also a testimonial to how great the Suns have historically been at scouting and drafting players. Lots of great draft picks on that list, and doesn't even include guys like Nance, Hornacek, Majerle, Nash, Wes Person, Marion... and in recent years, Warren... all top notch Suns draftees, very few of which were even picked all that high.

The Suns either hit home runs with their picks or strike out. They don't draft too many middle of the road players. They either add a starter or a 12th man.

Booker retweeted a hype video featuring himself and Jackson calling it "The Future". Not only has JJ's play been really good as of late but it's nice to know that he and Booker get along really well and Booker sees his potential for the future. Jackson seemed to struggle some earlier in the season when he was filling in for Booker as the SG but since then he's been playing really well.

Since the All Star Break Jackson has averaged 18.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1 steal a game on 46% shooting. Booker has averaged 32.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.8 assists on 42% shooting. Jackson has only started 1 of the 4 games he's played in also. Those 2 should make for a great wing duo for a long time to come. Jackson's play has made Warren expendable if the Suns can get a good return for him. They don't need to force a trade since TJ's signed long term but being able to replace his production shouldn't be that difficult with Jackson's improved play.

Damn... didn’t even occur to me that the fantastic Feb JJ’s had came off the bench!

Ayton makes those guys DOMINANT in three to four years.

And it’s another reason I want to go huge upside Big with Bagley or Jackson Jr. over Donicic. We’ve got our wings locked and loaded. Seems like we have a point who can be serviceable. But the team would be GREATLY rounded out with a stud big man.

Can’t get this lotto pick wrong.

Finley
Ceballos

In the 1990 draft, when the Suns drafted Ceballos, I was hoping the Suns could draft Elden Campbell who was drafted at #27. I always tried to parallel their careers. Ceballos was a great pick at #48.

The Suns did alright in that draft even though Jayson Williams never played for the Suns. Also they drafted Negele Knight.

Why didn't I want them to draft Toni Kukoc. LOL

That was a deep draft. Don't see those much anymore.

He’s such interesting player to me due to the fact that he’s so seemingly uninteresting. He’s obviously such an effective scorer in the most unassuming manner. His lack a true standout skill outside of inside/midrange scoring makes his impact on a game difficult to tell. His scoring is obviously important but the manner in which he scores doesn’t have a secondary impact on the game like creating gravity as great post players do or spacing like three point artists do. We know his D average or worse. He’s not a rebounder or facilitator. And he’s quiet.

All that said, if anyone has told us when we drafted him that he’d become a reliable 18-20 pts/game we would have been absolutely ecstatic.

He seems such an anomaly.

Early in the season when the Suns were actually trying they were 11-0 when he scored 25 or more. Pretty significant when you consider how few wins they have. IMO he would be a good 6th or 7th man on a good team. Definitely a quality player but prolly not a starter on any good team.

He’s a role player. Hard to identify a specific role on such a bad team.
