The Cardinals are a small market team and they did what they had to do. Sure it's a risk. but it's a risk worth taking. As far as what the rest of the country and media thinks, I do not give a rat's arse. Even when we are winning, they never actually watch the games and they would rather talk about the Cowboys in their crappy division which has accomplished less than the Cardinals for a few decades which says a lot lol

I realize that Phoenix and the state are not NY, CHI, Houston, LA - but how is it a 'small market' team?

They equally share in national revenues, have a 63k stadium and additional 'local' ancillary income.

No more excuses now Kyler, it’s time to consistently bring out the best in your teammates, not sulk when things don’t go your way, always keep your head in the game until the very end while overcoming any roster shortcomings and injuries that will inevitably happen around you. You’re now being paid at a level in which you’re expected to be the deodorant for your teammates BO and Febreeze for any foul stenches in the locker room. At the very least we’ll all be entertained in one way or another for quite a while now.

63K stadium? So a stadium smaller than 12 of the 14 SEC schools. I know NFL stadiums are generally smaller than CFB but still 64K isn't something to brag on.

I would say the Cards are "small market" by NFL standards due to the small following nationally. There is just a lack of interest by the media and other fans in the NFL. Those other cities (not Houston) have pretty deep nationwide fan bases. There are also much smaller cities than Phoenix which have teams that are "large market".

I'd like to see total income that clearly shows that AZ is 'small' market.

The heat was not just drafting a 5'10 QB, but drafting a QB again after just trading up to draft one before
A 5’10” FREAK QB. And with Rosen, I’ve said this from day 1: anytime you draft the 5th best QB of a draft class in the 1st round, then you are asking for trouble. And I’m not criticizing Keim, because we HAD to draft a QB in 2018. And then, when you have the #1 pick in the following draft, drafting Murray was a NO BRAINER.

I think after the first season, Rosen if successful, would have been like pulling teeth from what they saw so far... yeah, if you have first pick, you go to the well again

You need to clarify the definition for markets (small here). Is it by population, city size, money, etc., etc.. No one correct answer if you don't.

Only Soldier Field has a smaller capacity than State Farm Stadium.

However even SoFi in Los Angeles is only 70k. It's not like the capacity has a wide gap from largest to smallest, no matter the market size. It's only about 20k from the largest to the smallest stadium.

Small market: less media, less exposure, less hype.

Folks in Temecula, riverside, and Victorville can claim LA.

We have flagstaff, payson, and camp verde.

Not the same ballpark.

It’s Pepsi/coke vs Canada Dry.

The LA DMA is over 18 million. The Phoenix DMA is just over 5 million. In terms of media dollars spent, Phoenix is just simply a smaller market. This isn't to insult any city, it's just the fact of the matter. Now, Phoenix is somewhere in the middle in terms of NFL teams, but given the lower amount of loyalty, it's still likely to be perceived as a small market team.

Operative word: perceived.

Perception is how one sees the world and then acts accordingly, and yes, the Cardinals are perceived as a small market by a majority of the nation and therefore treated as such... and stop using the size of Canadian cities to equate your 'perception' :)
