The story really is the same, though with some degree of improvement, as it’s been his entire career.
Good enough to be minimally competitive in most games. Good enough to win some games, especially in the first half to 3/4ths of a season… But, come crunch time in the latter half of the season, when better than average to good QB’s show up and find winning pathways, Kyler continues to fall short.
Today was a prime example as there were several plays where winning QB’s would’ve made different choices or better throws that would’ve put this game away. Which is exactly the story that has plagued Kyler his entire career.
We continue to be mesmerized by his physical tools. His speed. His arm strength. None of which has lifted him to the next level and enabled him to actually win when it matters most.
Who knows… perhaps he’ll figure this ish out. Maybe even this season, though I doubt it.
I’ll continue to enjoy watching games that matter in December, with little to no expectations that Kyler will carry the team to important W’s… until he actually shows me he can do it.
