haha, joking a little with you a little yes. :)

But honestly, I would like everyone to keep an open mind on Kyler's potential as our QB1 for the 2025 season.

If some people here are "1000% sure he'll never be successful in the NFL" great, but I'm sure the same was written about Maker Mayfield on CLE Brown message boards too.

Happy New Years 82CardsGrad!
All good always brother...

Regarding Mayfield, what I see as the difference between he and Kyler is Baker's ability to make throws IN THE POCKET. Baker is willing to stand in the pocket and patiently wait for routes to develop, while knowing he's going to get hit. He did this in CLE and he's done it courageously and masterfully in Tampa.
I honestly have yet to see Kyler demonstrate this essential NFL QB trait and I don't ever see him being this type of QB.

Happy New Year Crimson!

physically speaking, Kyler is easily a Top 5 NFC QB and could arguably considered #1
Nah. There are five other #1 overall picks in that group, and two additional top five picks. Kyler is probably the biggest dual-threat QB in the NFC (I'm guessing that's what you mean), but for quarterback stuff I'd rather have Goff and Stafford for sure and maybe also Love and Caleb.

Honestly, being among the top 5 in a 16-team group isn't that impressive.

Kyler talking as a grandpa to his grandkids somewhere in Texas in the future, "Did I ever tell you about the time I got my kit into the Hall of Fame by beating up the Los Angeles Rams in a meaningless regular season home game? I think we won 7 games that season... I was something that day. Reminded me of high school..."

Meh. :|

Bro Kyler has squandered any benefit of the doubt with this fan base. He's impossible to get behind -- as soon as you start believing in him he disappoints or disappears.

Mayfield was banished from Cleveland after his fourth season where he gritted through a shoulder injury. The year before he won eleven games and defeated the hated Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs.

Yea..."dual-threat" is the most accurate distinction to make with Kyler. And I completely agree that I'd much prefer Goff & Stafford. I'm mixed on Love, though we're about to see what is really under the hood there. And Caleb sure does some things that make you say WOW, but, is he more like Kyler when it comes to leadership - or lack thereof, or, does he have it in him to be a tough, stand in the pocket and deliver when he knows he's about to get hit, type leader? Time will tell.

I don’t think Kyler is even top 2 for dual QBs in the NFC, putting him well behind Hurts and Jayden.

I think it's appropriate to stop worrying about who our QB is for next season... If it's Kyler, we all know where that story ends. And if it's anyone else, is the ending of that story any different than where the Kyler story takes us?

For me, if the Cards and Bidwill are willing to swing it, I'd much prefer to trade Kyler now and grab that first rounder and build additional depth across the roster.

Jalen is definitely more of a goal-line threat, but Kyler is the more dangerous open-field runner.

Hurts has twice as many rushing attempts as Kyler this season (in one fewer game, to boot). You're probably right.

Kyler has more than three times the rushing attempts Daniels does this season, and they have equal per-carry averages.

Yeah… I don’t give points for Kyler’s ability to run if he won’t actually use that ability the way the best running QBs in the league do. He could have the best YPC in the league but I don’t give an ish if he’s too scared to run and punish teams the way Daniels and Hurts consistently do.

Jayden‘s also got 31 total TDs to Kyler’s beyond mid 22.

No one is taking Kyler Murray over those two guys.

I do think that much like Cleveland this organization is batting 0-fer when it comes to drafting and developing even one single elite quarterback. That's not me suggesting Kyler is blameless here but I do wonder what Lamar would look like today had we drafted him and he developed in the Keim era.

Zero chance Lamar Jackson has success under Keim/Wilks/McCoy. Can’t imagine Michael giving him a long leash, either.

I think if we have a good offseason Kyler can lead the team to 11 regular season wins in 2025.

Hopefully that would be good enough for you kerouac9.

Hilarious out of Allen/Lamar/Baker/Darnold from that class, of course we pick the wrong one.
If it makes you feel any better Lamar would’ve likely struggled in year 1 as he did with Baltimore and Keim would’ve picked Kyler anyways. And Lamar would’ve been traded or Keim maybe tried to convert him to a TE or something.

I think Kyler can follow the team to 11 regular season wins in 2025 based on a soft schedule. Of course, if he wins nine games and misses the playoffs, I'm certain you'll be here to remind us to keep an open mind about Kyler Murray as a starting quarterback in 2026.

Sam Darnold another example of organizational QB futility it may seem.

I think the Jets are slightly below us on the scale or organizational futility. Did you see the big, recent NYT write-up on them? (someone showed me how to get behind their paywall, but I forgot. I'd love to read the whole thing)

I really don’t think Kyler will be on the team before the start of next season

Wow. That would be WILD. He's going back to Dallas next season; can't get rid of him before then! That's how he'd earn back all the goodwill he's squandered.

Lamar was AWESOME his rookie season. He went 6-1 after Joe Flacco lead them to a desultory 4-5 record in the first half of the season. Really struggled in the playoffs, fumbling three times.
