This Murray kid is the real deal and has ties to KK. Word is they stay in touch.
The writings on the wall too, KK recruited him out of high school and stated late last year that he would draft #1 overall if given the chance. It’s even possible that Murrays been talking to Kingsbury all along and has helped him make up his mind. I just wonder if KK has free reign to make this decision or does Keim/Bidwill want to keep Rosen? Question is do they have the balls?
I say do it! ...Take a chance and shock the league! We definitely have nothing to lose cuz I’ve seen enough of Rosen to know he’s nothing special and is a work in progress.

Bad post, especially the "nothing to lose" part.

Say you draft Murray and you either cut/trade Rosen or Rosen beats Murray out in camp (very likely), you just whiffed mightily on your #1 draft pick when you could've had a Nick Bosa-type of pass rusher.

Also, people need to stop freebasing on the KK hype video, where you'll find a lot of coaches blowing sunshine up the opposition's butt to make them feel good. Maybe I gave our fans too much credit, but I'm disappointed in how you and others have taken that video as gospel. I got a chuckle out of it and left it at that. Some held onto it as some sort of Lavar Ball situation in which it was going to be spoken into existence.

It's also funny how you reference Rosen as "a work in progress." You think Murray isn't a work in progress? I'm not going to lay out again the adversity Rosen was faced with last season, but only to say one cannot say that they've "seen enough." Murray started one full season in college, and although he was successful, it indicates that he does not have the experience that others have coming out of college.

I'm not saying Murray wont be successful, but for a team with the #1 pick, depth issues across the board, and QB not even a top-5 need, burning a high pick on Murray or anyone else would be foolish.

Kyler was Kliff's favorite recruit in the 2015 high school class. Recruited him pretty hard. I think he legitimately would take Murray #1 if he had the power to do so, but he doesn't have that power. I would be stunned if the Cardinals front office goes along with that idea.

Sir, how about you wait until after the combine before you make your final judgement on Murray?

If we didn't have a QB on the roster, sure, I could see KK making a move to draft Murray, but QB isn't even a top 5 need on this team and that #1 pick could either notch us a day-one impact player or multiple high picks via a trade. Personally, I think it's foolish to even consider Murray based on 1) His height, 2) Josh Rosen already on the roster and 3) We have numerous deficiencies that go above and beyond the quarterback position.

Plus, it's a non-starter. KK and the FO have already committed publicly to Rosen being the QB in this offense.

Didn’t realize there were “bad posts”
sorry you don’t approve! Anyway...here’s some more for you!
If we stick with Rosen we’ll be mediocre for years to come.
I stand by my statement that he is a work in progress and even more so learning an entirely new offense.
Murray would thrive in a Kingsbury Air Raid Offense which is the only way KK is going to be a successful NFL coach.
I’m willing to bet if Kingsbury had a QB choice for his Offense it wouldn’t be Rosen.

I would also be extremely worried that KM has an out...I would hate for us to trade Rosen (which I personally think Rosen IS our QBOTF) and then have KM have an equally frustrating season as we had last year and simply decide to chuck deuces and move on back to baseball.

We can ill afford to be set back any farther than we are...we have a potential franchise quality QB and we need to roll with him and attack the other holes in our roster.

Did you quote the wrong person? I didn't say anything controversial about his talent. I just don't think your front office is going to draft a QB #1 only a year after taking Rosen #10.

I think if you really and truly believed that last line TJ, you'd lead off with it, and wouldn't waste so much time arguing against Murray as an NFL player.

But I think you also understand that you should never say never. Especially when it comes to the NFL.

At this point, Rosen has essentially received a "vote of confidence" from the Cardinal's leadership. How much is that worth exactly sir?

And sure, I'll grant you that today, the Cardinals seem more likely to go with Rosen.

But the Murray hype train is about run right over Josh's face. Lol... and if Murray blows up the combine, then you can book he'll be holding up a Cardinals jersey at 9:03 EST on 04/25/19.

Put it this way - I would be very surprised if the team reversed course on its commitment to Josh Rosen. I have a better chance of sleeping with Kate Upton than the Cards drafting Murray, regardless of how he performs in the combine.

It’s not going to happen. The cards will take the perfect opportunity to rebuild this team ( around Rosen) if Rosen indeed dramatically fails with an improved roster it will mean we have a crap record and be a top 10 pick next year. The qb class next year is supposed to be very good. It may take some future picks to draft a qb next year but it would be doable. Also I believe trading Rosen would mean a sizable cap hit. The only way Murray will help us is allow us to trade our 1 st pick. I’m not arguing for or against obtaining Murray, just looking at the cold hard facts.

Everyone expects Murray to do well in the combine drills, but the most important things will be how tall he measures, how big his hands are and how he does in the team interviews. If Murray runs a 4.15 he still wouldn't be the first pick overall...unless he all of sudden grew 3 inches taller.

  • According to Elias, only five quarterbacks listed at 5-foot-10 or shorter have thrown an NFL pass since 1960. The last was Doug Flutie in 2005
  • Murray would be the shortest quarterback selected in the first round since the common draft began in 1967.
  • According to Elias, there have only been two quarterbacks listed at shorter than 6-foot-1 drafted in the first round: Michael Vick and Johnny Manziel, both of whom were listed at 6 feet.
There is a reason that short QBs don't make it in the NFL, let some other team try to buck history. If some team falls in love with him I hope the Cardinals make a killing trading down.

There is a chance accuracy can be improved thru coaching.Do you know any coaching that can make a QB taller?
A slim chance looking at modern history. But point taken.

A good coach can’t coach him taller, but can scheme around his fantastic athleticism to negate or mitigate the lack of height.

You said yourself Kyler is 5-9. Baker is 6-1, so that's a 4 inch difference.
I meant he’s at least 5’9” because that’s my height & many here say he’s 5’8”. And Baker was 6’ 5/8” at the combine

I think things could get interesting if KM looks phenominal during his pro day/combine stuff. He fits the air raid, I would NOT be shocked if they took him number 1 if he's lighting up his pre-draft stuff.

Here's a quote from the USA today article:

The No. 1 pick should be reserved for players with Hall-of-Fame potential. For special prospects who can carry a franchise for a decade. There is only one quarterback in this class capable of doing that, and that’s Murray.

Baker is about 4 inches (maybe 5 inches) taller than Kyler. Plus it seems like Kyler relies a lot on his legs to run downfield, whereas Baker would use his legs mostly to extend plays for a throw downfield. Kyler is incredibly fast and I have never seen anyone get a good hit on him, but the NFL is a different level of speed/strength.
Baker measured in at 6 feet 1 inches. And to get technical 6 feet and 0.625 inches (rounded up to 6'1".

Kyler will be 5'9 7/8ths roughly bringing him to 5'10".

He's short. no doubting it. But to over exaggerate is foolish IMO. You can make your point without it.

Look.... This debate is wonderful. And I have spilled my guts about this on both the Suns and the Cards board.

IMHO: Luka Doncic was the right pick in the NBA and Kyler will most likely be the right pick in this draft.

We have a long way to go but it cannot be disputed that the way the NFL is trending with it's rules changes..... the way the offenses are being tailored towards quicker passing, and RPO style playcalling....... Kyler is just born to do it.

Josh is not.

And with how bold we were to go after a coach like KK..... Why would we stop there and not totally commit fully?

And finally.......... We get an extra year of rookie salary scale.

All of this would require a good haul for Rosen. Like the Jags pick. Or maybe even the Giants.

Bosa is still the right call at #1. But if we can get to #3 through #6 by trading Josh..... I would do it in a heartbeat. Kyler moving up to #1 would require god-like combine numbers with immaculate interviews.

While you're not wrong, the Patriots showed that defense still wins championships and IMO, standing pat and taking Bosa is the way to go. A healthy Bosa is a game changer. He and Jones as bookends will make us one of the most formidable defenses in the league.
