I really think its futile. Trade Fitz to a contender and TANK. Next weeks game is for the number one pick.

Even though this should be dismissed on its face - let's think through it. Fitz is probably going to retire after this year, and definitely will retire if he's anywhere else. How much is a team expected to give up for someone who is 99.9% sure to retire after the season? A 4th or 5th rounder? I'm sure everyone would be thrilled to see Fitz traded for that kind of compensation!!

I think Chris Johnson is going to end up the starter, with kerwyn the secondary back. Maybe Kerwyn wins the job - but I have a feeling CJ will do enough to take it, even though he won't be breaking any long runs.

CJ has lost a step - but he can still run through the tackles - which ellington can't do, so at least gives us a legit "Running back". Penny is not NFL caliber as a running back and these moves show the cardinals agree and really only kept him for special teams.

Ellington will basically just be used as a pass catcher - which I would think makes our offense quite predictable.

Foster will just be a return man to fill the role for kerwyn - and hopefully do a better job than him, because he wasn't to good at return responsibilities.

But if I am right All 5 backs will need to be kept active on game day - which is kind of crazy and could easily leave us shorthanded somewhere else.

The solution would have been to cut penny, and just use kerwyn or somebody else to take Penny's place on special teams. This makes all the more sense with Humphries hurt and Veldheer and Wetzel playing like total crap at tackle.

I hate BA's love for garbage special teams running backs like Stephan Taylor and Penny.

I don't think cutting a healthy running back is the answer.

You trade Fitz so he has a chance to win. Not for compensation.

Where, the Patriots? They looked as bad as we did. We can still win, not sure why losing to a playoff team on the road means we suck to everyone

Having CJ start is like not asking the 3rd girl you had in mind to prom....and then find out the last minute the main girl has the flu. And your 2nd choice found a date. If he couldn't make it add a top 4 rb how in the heck is he going to help us win??? Trade a 4th or 5th for Adrian Peterson....he well have a chip on his shoulder and he is better than anyone we have. It gives us credibility back too.....he and the head coach were arguing on the side line. And they have 4 rbs ....

Never said the Cardinals suck. But they did lose to the lions, lose their best player and the LT. I said they need to tank and draft a QB. Then sign a stud DL with the money saved from Palmer and Fitz. Build a strong DF
Unless you really think they can win. I'm sure the odds are better now for the Cardinals to win it all. Go place a bet.

For anyone who watches the draft, for any player which is taking the field... the idea of tanking for the 'what if' of the draft has no logic at all

Let's give CJ the chance he deserves 2 short years ago he was running as comeback player of the year. Injuries has killed him. I'm more than happy he's back. I've got a good feeling he's ready

No such thing as 2 short years for a running back in his 30's.

that said, I hope he's got more burst left than I think he does.

Was hoping for a bold move to excite the fan base like Adrian Peterson from the Saints. A.P. doesn't appear very happy with his "new" role in New Orleans.

Mark in SC :)

No one knows yet. I believe CJ will be starting sooner than later.

Based on what? The guy was on the street and KW and Ellington made the team? His play in ore season stunk and he clearly lacked any type of explosiveness...

Me thinks all you guys chiming this stance are throwing poo at the wall and hoping it sticks.... And I believe you guys are doing it based on Chris Johnson's name and history... time to realize the guy is old and is not the same player... About the only thing heis still really good at is pass protection...

Sad part is he is better and more experienced than any of our other RB's. You can't rush the ball consistently with two 5-8/5-9 guys that weigh 190ish pounds. CJ2k is old but he knows the offense and is still more talented than KW or AE at 31 years old.

Was more talented would be more accurate... Nothing we have seen has shown that the CJ you see today is more talented..

Shane is not a fan of the guy. So, keep that in mind. :D

But seriously, if the Cardinals cut Chris Johnson at the beginning of the year, then I have no idea why they would now bring him and another running back in as well. But, then again, there have been more than a few questionable moves these last two years when it comes to player/personnel moves and the Cardinals.

Ed Stinson, Drew Butler, Scooby Wright, just to name a few.

I am a fan of Johnson, but I do agree with Shane, that until Chris Johnson shows he can still do what we have seen in the past, he is just 2 years older, and look no further than the other aging players on this team, to see how that normally goes.

In my opinion, I think Chris Johnson will have Marcell Ship type effectiveness this year. Not really sure that is going to have much of an effect, positive or negative on the team.

I'm holding out hope that his break last year at least means he has a little more tread on the tires. I don't know though, he's pretty long in the tooth for an RB.

I actually do like Chris Johnson I just think hes done....clearly seen him underperform Against 2nd and 3rd rate talent in the preseason showed all I really needed to see. Can't for the life of me figure out what everyone else is expecting and what they are basing it off of ??

I know just having some fun, and to be clear for all those reading, you have never said anything close to that you are not a fan of the guy.

He is a 30 year old vet, and I agree, it would be wise for people to keep that in mind with their expectations. There is not an elite RB on this roster right now, and it will have to get done via a committee of backs. Johnson is here more for his pass blocking than anything since both Williams and Ellington struggle there.
