I see what you're saying. But the "Same ol Cards" mantra is just verbal jerking by radio jocks to fill the airwaves today and in reality is totally meaninless. The fate of that label will lie squarly on the won-loss record at the end of the season. Will the Leinart hold out effect that? Probably not assuming they get the deal done soon.

Anyone ever really notice that the same people that call on the radio preaching 'same ole cardinals' are still the SAME sorry ass callers that have been banging on the Cardinals for years? There is nothing new here. These predators just wait for an opportunity to spew their bile.

Jerky lives for moments like these. If you take the emotion out of it and really paid attention to these clowns they take any shrivel of news (true or false) and spin it negatively. Honestly no one really knows what the hold up is. The Cards could very well be the reason for this holdout, but I have a hard time believing that they would come all this way after all these years.. after all the positive moves they've made to leave Matt at home over 1 or 2 mil.

hasn't he gotten 5 of 5 guys in, excluding Leinhart?

I thought it was higher.......maybe joeschmo knows for sure.

I think it is funny that it's ALWAYS the greedy agent's fault.

How many other first round picks did he represent that were drafted 8 or 9 slots below where they were projected to go and were QB's?

Jay Cutler, and he missed one morning of practices.

If Condon represented Cutler then we may have a partial answer for what's going on here. My understanding is that the general perception around the league is Cutler got a "bad" deal, one that looks great on paper, 6 years 42 million 11 guaranteed, but is actually much better for Denver than for Cutler since much of that 42 milion is in incentives he has no chance to ever get.

Over on the USC board they're saying that part of Leinart's concern is the bulk of his deal is going to be on the books AFTER the salary cap expands, and Leinart is concerned about locking into a long deal before the cap jumps because he'll be missing out on all that potential money. That's why he wants more guaranteed up front money, get his now and then if he plays well force a new contract later after the cap has expanded as it's expected to do.

Combine the 2 and you get an agent smarting from the perception he didn't do his job for Cutler, and trying to make up for that and protect Leinart?

It was Kent Graham.

NEZ:

It was Kent Graham in 1997, the only season that he and Plummer were both with the Cardinals. From 1998-2001, whenever Jake went down/out, Dave Brown was the next man up.

And although Brown may have had ordinary skills on his best day, I'd give a lot to have a backup with his NFL experience--including 3+ years as a former starter--on the Cards roster going into this season. Instead, going into the second week of training camp, we've got a third-year guy with one career start, an unsigned rookie, and a couple of camp bodies.

Tell me again how these aren't the same ol' Cards. ;)

Not quite as bad as Rick McIvor and a guy who played more at Safety than QB but yeah with Leinart unsigned our backup QB situation looks eerily similar to 1984. Anybody old enough to remember that year knows what happened, Lomax got hurt, we couldn't bench him, so playing injured he slumped, and we wound up missing the playoffs in a season we should have won the division with any sort of reasonable backup QB.

I don't think Condon reps Cutler - amI wrong here?

Regardless, coming off another horrendous season, when looking at the amount of cap space we still have, with the lack of depth at key positions and combine that with another first round holdout, it's hard not to throw the "Same Old Cards" label on them.

If we go into the season:

Warner
Navarre
Davey

How could anyone argue against that being the worst QB Depth Chart in the league??

All one would have to do in that arguement is present the Bill's QB Depth Chart.

One could argue that OAK is also as bad or worse than the Leinart-less Cards chart.

Browns too;

C. Frye
D. Anderson
L. Campbell

You'd have a hell of an argument....but I might take the Bills. At least both Holcomb and Losman have started more than 1 game.

I'm 99% sure Condon's only other 1st rounder is Mathias Kiawanuka - the 32nd pick.

wow - then I've got baaaaadddd info! Where did I read the whole 5 of 6 guys thing? I always thought it was high for any agent to have 6 first round picks. Maybe that meant 5 of his last 6 first round picks? Anyone have any clue where I'm getting that number from?

I like Charlie Frye....make a trade. Let's offer up the worthless Bryant Johnson.

Silly rabbit, contrary to the belief of some around here, NFL trades are rare. ;)

Honestly I don't care as much as I used to. Every year grown men squabble over a few million dollars all the while us working folk pay for it. I'm not complaining as I know this is the society we live in, but I just think it is all really silly and sad at this point. God Bless Matt for having the talent to be in a situation to make this kind of money. All that matters to me is how these players perform on the football field.

Are you trying to tell me Madden isn't realistic??

Bryant Johnson and a 5th round draft pick can get anything.

As I said. I'm not 100%, but I'm certain it isn't 5 or 6. Isn't that number combined with Ben Dogra's? (Condon's partner) He had several high profile players including Mario Williams and Michael Huff.

Condon has plenty of high-profile clients, such as Marvin Harrison, LaDainian Tomlinson, Tony Gonzalez, Steve Hutchinson, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Chad Pennington, Alex Smith, Marc Bulger, Chris Simms and Byron Leftwich.

I think Seattle's first-rounder, Kelly Jennings, is a Condon client along with Leinart. I don't know if he represents any other of this year's first-rounders.
