Could it be that time on the island moves much faster than the outside world?

That would explain that there basically has been no rescue teams searching in the area.

For instance - for every hour that passes in the real world, a day would pass on the island?

Interesting theory.

That would be cool but would be hard to explain since the sun clearly goes up and down in a normal day for them?

I liked the before show too it's clear the producers realize they've lost some of their audience including some of their original core audience and they want to get them back.

I can't look at the guy that was offering Juliette the job and take him seriously. That's the actor that played "Bat-Manuel" in the live-action "Tick" series.

Also, I have a comment in Evil Ash's spoiler...
He was in Smokin' Aces as well...

Yeah but I think that has more to do with the focus being on Jack, Sawyer and Kate lately. They are going to go back to showing more of the rest of the cast. I don't think though that means the overall story arc or the direction of the show changes much.

I thought it was a great episode. I enjoyed getting the back story on Juliette. I wonder though why she would believe anything Ben would say to her.

After watching this episode I started wondering if we'll ever see Michael and Walt again.

I really love the triangle between Kate, Jack and Sawyer.

Check this out, from the brainwashing scene...very very clearly there are reversed messages.

COOL! I think some people have too much time on their hands :D

Apparently I am one of them, as I rewatched that brainwashing sequence frame by frame I found the following picture of Alvar Hanso

on the run from johnny law... ain't no trip to cle
finally watched the episode from november and the new one. thoughts:

  • i like the idea that time moves faster on the island.
  • portland, i totally agree about the sex scene; all i could think of was "man, they haven't bathed or brushed their teeth in too long for that to be good"
  • the audio of the brainwashing scene reversed was really, really creepy.
  • as someone mentioned in the comments section on the reverse audio link, the woman sounded like ms. klugh
  • i am completely undecided as to whether or not juliette is evil. she seemed like she could be, but after last week's episode she seems more codependent than anything.
  • why would juliette need her ex-husband's permission to take another job? again, that speaks to her codependence.

Because her ex had her by the figurative balls. She was conducting illegal experiments and stealing medical supplies.

why didn't she tell the mettilos (?) people that the only thing holding her back was possible legal trouble from her ex, and if they wanted her they'd need to take care of that? she really did seemed tethered to her ex. they clearly had an abusive relationship (remember the nasty way he told her to turn off the lights, and they meek way that she did).

Some stuff about tonight's show...nothing too spoilerish, but it basically says it's the best one of the season and why this show is the best on TV.

After all the talk of delays and disappointments, tonight brings a
startling reminder of why expectations still soar around Lost (* * * *
out of four, 10 ET/PT, ABC). At its best, as it is tonight, this
astonishing series risks and accomplishes at a level few others even try
to reach.
We are, thankfully, back on the beach and back with Charlie and Hurley,
who are determined to find out what happened to Desmond when he turned
that key. He won't tell them, but he does tell us - via a stunning
flashback that spins the show off into totally new territory. Eerie and
yet amusing, confounding and yet completely controlled, this hour is the
season's best and likely to be one of the series' most dissected and
discussed. On a basic viewership level, it's great to see Lost move
beyond the fall's cages and cells and be visually compelling again. But
the episode may also alter the view of those who have focused so tightly
on the little mysteries that they've lost sight of Lost's ability to
tackle bigger issues. The question so brilliantly posed tonight is,
"What is fate?" Is it possible to change our paths, or does the universe
want what it wants without input from us? The answer is of critical
importance to at least one character; make sure you're there tonight to
discover which one.

Well duh, then we wouldn't have had that freaking sick shot of him getting hit by the bus, now would we?

I'm sorry. I have to do it, if I look at that guy that arranged for the bus to hit Juliette's ex and think "That's Batmanuel," then the world will suffer with me.
