I wonder if they'll ever explain why Hurley's lady friend was in the mental institution with him.

I was hoping they would have touched on that last night. It was moving when he was at her grave.

And yes Wendy, I clapped when the car started....

This episode tugged at your emotions - like season 1!!

Great to see Danielle again.

Finally got back to seeing some of the old characters, which was nice. Not exactly nice to see the Boone/Shannon replacements though. Ugh I thought they were gone.

Cheech's casting was horrible, ruined the illusion for me. I can't wait to see the flashback to Jack as a pre-med student with Dr Chong as a biology professor.

During the episode I hated it, but after thinking it over I guess it was more like the first season.

The homage to Little Miss Sunshine was cute I guess(great movie).

I guess what bugged me initially was the way they all reacted to the return of Sawywer and Kate, 5 minutes of hugging and then back to life as normal as if they'd never been gone? That bugged me.

I'm also torn with Sawyer, I love the character and the smart ass comments but it's obvious that whoever writes that character has realized the popularity of his nicknames for people and now it's almost become a contest to see how many they can get in per minute. Somewhere a group of college kids are playing a drinking game around all those nicknames.

But Hurley is one of my favorite characters so I liked seeing the backstory on him.

So I guess I'm mixed.

I think I read somewhere that this will definitely be clarified somewhere along the way. But, yeah, I thought they would tell us last night since Hurley was at the grave.

 So I'm not a dork! Or we both are. Either way, I'm cool with that, lol!

Yeah, it was. Should be interesting to see what happens with her.

I also loved it when Hurley called Sawyer, "big redneck man" or whatever he said. Classic.

What finished it for me wasnt the not answering questions it was bringing up interested mysteries and then just dropping them completely. Like what happened to the monster in the woods when they first arrived? Among many other things they just dropped.

Finally a good episode.

If this is the type of episodes to come then the show is getting back on track. This felt like a LOST episode and it's about time. Next weeks episode looks good too.

I wouldn't want to see the monster thing resolved right now. That's one of those secrets that I think adds to the LOST mythos. I wouldn't mind them revealing that thing at the very end.

Agreed - some of the Lost mysteries need to stay until the very end.

What bothered my wife and I more was, why are all these people so excited to see Sawyer after he was such a prick to them all, and even tried to be a psuedo dictator for a while?

You say "dropped" like they wont ever answer the mysteries or questions.

The monster will be answered. But maybe answering that gives away a huge part of the ending?

Probably because things were more exciting with him there. :D

If they wait to the end to resolve their "mysteries" how long of a last episode would they have to have in order to answer all/most of the questions raised?

Or will we be disappointed with a rushed episode to cap a series that has stalled on plots and backstories like nobody else's business?

But I did like last night's episode, which was the 1st one I've liked since it started up again.

However, I'm starting to hate previews for all of the shows I watch. You have the gratuitous preview at the end of the episode to pump you up for next week, but the preview generally contains a huge spoiler for the upcoming show.

I don't think we meant wait until the very last episode as much as wait until the end of the series. I would guess that the last 5 episodes would be enough to answer things. Not to mention tha the final episode would probably be 2 hours long. I don't think you could rush an ending to this show in 1 or 2 hour last episode.

The writers know that. Usually the only time you see a show end on a note like that is when it's a last minute cancellation. You won't see that on this show.

No kidding. The show has a story arc of 7 seasons according to the writers and they're only in season 3.

They have to save some mysteries for later (ie the season finale)

But they're on record that next year might be the last season so they have
to accelerate the arc.

And the scary thing, Are you smarter than a 5th grader doubled Lost in the ratings last night. At some point like a lot of good shows, if Lost keeps losing ratings, it will get cancelled whether finished or not. That's what scares me, they're going tohave to cram 3 years into one or something when they find out they are going to get canned due to ratings.

Its on at 10PM in California and I think that's a big part of the problem, they moved it to avoid American Idol, but I think they lost part of their audience because it's on later?

If they keep doing shows like last night, ratings will come back some.

ABC screwed the pooch on this one, ratings wise. Whoever did the scheduling for Season 2 should be fired.

Possibly, but it seems a lot of people who are complaining are complaining that they want to see answers. Last night was good TV, but didn't answer a ton of things. So if the decline in ratings is because those people are fed up with lack of answers, shows like last night won't help.

I checked out a Lost board today and there's a big thread where one guy is telling people to stop whining for answers, this is Lost, that's what makes this show different, quit expecting them to tie everything up in one episode like Seinfeld. I get his point, but I think he fails to get that there apparently aren't enough people like him to give Lost good ratings. if that doesn't change, no matter how good the show is, it could get cancelled.

hope not, but we've all seen it before.

That is one example of many. Also another thing that doesnt fit is Ethan. The man must have been a God. He had super human strength, some sort of magical gift to know about Walt, was fixing the psychologists plumbing, and now we found out a surgeon as well.

You cant tell me they didnt go too far to make the others be too many things (or changed their minds on what they were)

They don't have to answer all the questions that the show has created, but to resolve some before opening more would be nice.

I hate watching the show and having to dig into my memory bank to recall an episode from season 1 or a GD character who made an appearance for 2 minutes and suddenly enrages Jack in a cage.

Also...why did it take Charlie and Hurley longer to coast down that hill in their Little Miss Lostshine van than it took Sawyer and Jin to run down it?

They had to edit it out. Sawyer and Jin answered all the questions we have!!!

Great episode! I too noticed the increase of nickname use. I can see how it could get a little annoying, but they always crack me up. I loved Hurley’s comeback.

On the DVD (I think season 2) there is an entire section devoted to “Sawyerisms”. It was hilarious to watch.
