I can't wait to get up in the morning to see what everyone in AZ thinks

It was fabulous!!! Nice to have the major question of who is who and how many groups are there answered. Of course, this brings up another question:

How did the original hostiles get on the island? And, since I have the spoiler thing going on here, I say Locke doesn't die. Oh, and what the heck was up with that Jacob thing? I mean, really, I am gonna have to rewatch that. Anyone with high-def see something my crappy TV might have missed?

Next week's episode looks totally and incredibly awesome!

I second that

Some spoilers for those that have recorded but haven't watched it yet. Read at own risk

-The leader of the others (maybe?) is like the management from Carnivale
-Richard (aka Batmanuel) is at least 70 years old and doesn't age a day
-Ben is a massive psycho
-Locke may or may not be dead and on that island that might not mean much to begin with (as seen with Ben's mom and possibly Jack's dad)
-Who the hell is incharge on the firggin island?!

Okay, the biggest thing that people MAY have missed, because my wife did the first time, but I didn't...

There WAS someone sitting in the chair and Locke saw him. An old man, long hair...it was brief, very quick...but he was there and I think Locke saw him.

I also think Ben made up all the conversation, he's never heard Jacob speak, but Locke has now. And Ben was upset that he wasn't the one who was spoken to, and so he shot Locke.

This show is UNBELIEVABLE

-According to Ben, they are natives so they've always been there.

-No you didn't miss anything even in Hi Def, he's still invisible

Okay, but

how could they just always be there? And, if it's true that women die in childbirth on the island, then how could they keep their numbers up? Of course, as you mentioned, Richard hasn't aged a day.

-Thats a really good question. Maybe these were the people that came to the island on the Black Rock. Honestly I have no idea

-I don't think Ben was lying about the "recruiting" (either voluntarily or by force) that was done to keep their numbers up. It seems that they were continuing to use the Dharma name in the recruiting process even though everyone (but Ben) in that camp was killed.

Mike, your wife has an incredible eye. I mean I caught that Dharma insignia on the shark the first time I saw that episode in the second season, but half of us didn't even see what she saw watching it in slow motion.

perhaps I'm reading too deep into this, but if people can make things appear and happen on the island perhaps the childbirth problem is something that Ben is doing. Certainly his own birth is playing a role in his obsession with finding a solution to the problem.

Someone asked about keeping up the population without childbirth. That's easy. Some of the others are probably the original hostiles... the people with Richard. The other people were brought to the island kind of like Juliet.

What a mind blowing episode

Ooh, I like that theory. Maybe it's a subconscious thing on his part. Wouldn't that be weird?

Have I mentioned how much I freaking love this show?

This is honestly my favorite show ever, and I really can't think of a close second. Perhaps it would be Seinfeld, but that's a different kind of show altogether obviously.

Actually, I meant to say that I saw it, she didn't. She was in awe that I saw it at all...

I have only one thing to say about tonights episode.....

WTF????????

I mean that in a good way. Holy crapola. What the hell is with this entire Jacob thing? The producers have said no supernatural stuff. There is no way to explain what we saw tonight. He is invisible? Then for a flash appears. Some people can hear him? Stuff moving by itself etc...

Not only do I have no clue what I just saw but I have a ton more questions.

I don't think he is invisible. I just think some people can see him and others can't.

Just to add another topic to the discussion...

Does anybody have any idea who "Annie" is? She seemed to have a big role during the Young Ben scenes, but they never established that she was killed by the gas attack.

One WAAAAY out there thing I was thinking about was that Annie is Danielle and that the whole French scientist thing was a story she told to Sayid, and not true. Now, I have nothing to back that up other than the fact that we see Ben have a childlike relationship with this little girl, and then Alex makes an appearance in the present time. AND the idea that Annie and Danielle are closely related names in sounds and spelling. Maybe Danielle is the last remaining person on the island loyal to Dharma, which is why she is against the Others and a reason that Ben took Alex back.

A reach? Probably.

on the run from johnny law... ain't no trip to cle
also, mr. goodspeed was (this is for you, 32, arthur and chap):

tooms, from x-files

i haven't confirmed it, but i'm 99.9% sure, since i could never forget that face. he still haunts my dreams.

that being said, i kind of thought (in the like 1 second of hd slow-mo that i saw of jacob) that he might be mr. goodspeed. the profile shot we have of jacob doesn't look unlike him, so it's not out of the question. think how coincidental this is (especially in a show where nothing is coincidental):
  • ben is born in a random oregon forest and his mom "dies" right as mr. goodspeed and his lady friend happen to drive by
  • mr. g works for darma
  • mr. g keeps in touch with ben and his dad, enough to know his dad is struggling to keep a job
  • mr. g brings them to the island to work, under false pretenses (ben's dad didn't know he was going to be *just* a janitor)
  • ben's mom shows up (as an illusion, at the very least) in the same place that the people that watched her die brought her family to
  • ben, after the mass gassing, is only visibly upset when he sees that mr. g is dead too (this from a ben who has shown zero emotion over anyone)
