Everytime this man goes up for a jumpshot, I turn my head away in disgust. It's almost a guarantee that its going to bounce off the rim and go into the opposing team's hands. It's even worse when he gets this notion that he is Dan Majerle and starts shooting threes. This man should be near the rim and no where on the perimeter on offense. We lose games because he bricks wide open jumpers and makes horrendous decisions when he has the ball in his hands. He throws into lanes where the defender almost always has a read on the ball. I am not basketball wizard but I can tell that the guy just sometimes wants the ball out of his hands.

This might sound like an upset fan who is just pissed after a grueling loss but I don't care that the Suns couldn't sweep a tough Denver team on back-to-back nights because thats a daunting challenge. I think the Suns, a 50 win team, has played excellent basketball and as a long time Suns fan I'm pretty damn proud of this team in what is a hell of a conference. I am just sick of Boris Diaw and his weak game. He plays scared and I truly hope the Suns organization can get rid of this burden and get a player who isn't afraid of the basketball.

People knock Barbosa but as someone who watches this team play, this guy isn't afraid of the rock. Yes he isn't great defensively but he has an aggressiveness that cannot be taught.

He’s aggressive, but he has lousy court vision.

im so tired of people ripping on diaw. yea hes not the same guy he was in 2006 but havent we learned from the shawn marion/joe johnson years that there just isnt enough ball to go around for everyone. its not diaws fault they offered him the contract.

yes, there are times that i wish he would shoot it when hes 2 feet away from the rim, but in todays NBA having a guy thats unselfish and never complains about his role is refreshing. unfortunately not everyone can be amare.

No kidding.

People bitch when Diaw doesn't shoot, and bitch when he shoots and misses.

He's not going to light up the scoreboard every night, and frankly, I prefer him taking the open jumper if it's given to him.

The guy had 10 rebounds tonight, so I don't think anyone can say he didn't put forth effort. Just sometimes, the shot doesn't fall.

Forget comparing him to Amare. Just look at Brian Skinner. There's a guy that gets every ounce of production out of his talent. He plays hard, he plays physical, and he plays with heart. You know when he comes out on the court that he's going to give you his best. Diaw has made a habit of making inexcusably bad decision on offense.

Diaw is a hard move contract. So for the Suns to "get rid" of him they will have to most likely ship even more picks with that deal.

PS
No on really knocks Barbosa publicly more than me, so "people' must be me. I actually think Barbosa is above average offensively outside of the clutch, and I do concede he is playing out of position (Not a surprise with our over rated coach). I think He gets a huge free pass because he is liked and people root for him, so they tend to graze over his inability to play defense and his inability to make correct basketball decisions. Whatever, though I do think he is good value for the contract and I don't want him shipped out or anything.

Barbosa is easily more frustrating player to watch than Diaw this year. Both are great chuckers, one chucks from the mid range while one doesn't know when to stop from the 3 pt line.

Diaw just lost his mid-range shot that he had 2 years ago due to self-confidence. Barbs is just overrated now. Inconsistency at its finest.

Lol treesquid i wasnt aiming at you there with the "People". Barbosa isn't supposed to be a defensive whiz-kid. The Suns signed him because he is fast and can shoot! And I am sure 99 percent of the league wouldn't care about his defense because offensively he is blessed.

I really really tried hard to like Diaw. But when you watch him play its hard to. When you watch Gordon Giricek and then you look at Diaw playing, its night and day. GG has confidence on both ends of the court. Diaw, I don't know if he does on either end. Brian Skinner is better than Diaw, he knows what he wants to do on the floor. How many times this year have you seen Diaw penetrate jump and then pass off the ball to the sides to have it intercepted? It's becoming very painful to see.

I like Barbosa as a 2nd and 3rd quarter guy, but he should never be taking clutch shots, yet he ALWAYS DOES, the bulls winner was a fluke. In fact, once Hill comes back it's back to the pine for leandro in the last 5.

We should get Marcus Banks. Then Barbs will be free to play SG and will be great.

Oh, wait...

The guy's coming off the bench and you expect consistent 20 point nights every time he plays? Name me the amount of guys who can put up consistent 20 point nights off the bench, not many. Not many can even get up to 15. Barbosa is LETHAL off the bench and in the right system (with a competent backup PG) he would be even better. Too bad the Suns don't have a backup!

@ Diaw, I have accepted Diaw for what he is, the guy who comes into work to collect his paycheck, never sick, always on time, lots of talent but just doesn't give a damn.

True no one scores like Leandro off the bench, that's why I think he is Ced Ceballos reborn, my problem is he is a low basketball IQ guy, trying to make high basketball IQ plays.

It isn't all his fault, he cannot mentally handle being a pt guard, his vision is limited to the basket and maybe to the 3 pt shooter nearest to him. he needs to be a 2/chucker. But since the suns cannot correctly evaluate back u p point guards barbosa is forced to be exposed.

And I am done with this playing out of position rhetoric dan tony feeds us, look at how much better amare is a 4.

and now that I think of it, he did make a nice dish to a cutter (I forget who) and it shocked me. I had never seen him not throw it back to the 3 pt shooter.

Diaw's contribution doesn't always show up on the box score. A lot of times he's able to find the right man during offense, and can play good defense. But at other times, he seems to just be out there, not exerting himself at all.

According to 82games.com, Diaw is hitting 39% of his 2-point jump shots (excluded are dunks(not many with Diaw)/layups/hook shots/...). Thats quite average for the league. Even Duncan has a worse percentage, who like Diaw gets a lot of open jumpers from the top of the key and from that distance from the sides. Now that we have established that Diaw is an average jump shooter, I would agree that he needs to finish stronger around the rim. He has the athleticism to dunk, so he should be going stronger to the rim instead of laying it up or passing it out.
