He is projected to go in the top 7 of the draft. Not sure if there would be any takers. Unlike the NFL, lower first round draft picks and second round draft picks don't seem to have a lot of value. There is a big drop off in talent.
The tournament will likely move some players up and down but Vonleh is pretty safe although with Indiana staying home he might drop a notch or two because of out of sight, out of mind. He's very raw but has a huge upside. I agree he's almost definitely out of our reach. I'd like to draft him but I'd be quite happy coming away with some mix of Jusuf Nurkic, Clint Capela, Nik Stauskas, Beejay Anya or AJ Hammons.
Anya isn't a likely entry unless he shines in the tournament but even if he declares, sane teams might hesitate because of his strict adherence to the Oliver Miller Nutritional Regimen. I think he has some talent though so I wouldn't mind us being the crazy front office that gambled a 2nd or low 1st on him. Nurkic is a good target for our own pick and either Capela or Stauskas has a good chance of being there for our second pick. Hammons is a nice target for the Pacers pick and worst case scenario would finally give us that backup bruiser at the center spot that can score in the post.
