not those pimping a guy who comes off ACL surgery... and certainly not those bringing up Credoz (or whatever the hell his name is) Butler.

seriously... this kind of move makes no sense to me. It's a passing league, right now we have NO ONE proven at CB except PP and the deal isn't breaking the bank for a guy who our coaches called the defensive MVP AND is young. You find a guy who fits your squad, is young and didn't break the bank and you don't want him back? head scratcher.

So what do you think about Ryan Williams making a contribution this fall? Given their numerous RB failures, especially since I'm superstitious and the Cards have a litany of failed 2nd round RBs, I'm concerned.

I feel the same about DeMarco Sampson as I do about Stephen Williams: they're nothing to think about until they illustrate that they can play on SUNDAYS. Good size/speed, but there's usually a reason that guys are undrafted/7th rounders.

I don't expect much from Sampson in his second year in part because he didn't have much of a first year without an offseason and truncated training camp.

We're developing Rob Housler and Andre Roberts. Jimmy Graham was nothing his rookie season. Rob Gronkowski was just another guy, as was Aaron Hernandez.

I don't understand how these two go together. Welker, Colston, Victor Cruz and other late round or undrafted WRs have worked out. Are you saying you just haven't seen anything in pre season or the limited playing time Sampson has had to think he'll ever develop? Sort of the way I feel about Kevin Kolb?

Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez where never just another guy in anyone's mind to me, a lot of people freaked when the Pats took two TEs which where highly thought of in the draft, and both have worked out as expected.

based on previous guys trying to come back from this injury and what my best friend and father told me (both of whom are orhtopods and deal with this type of injury) I expect absolutely nothing... at least for this year.

That's fine, but those are three guys out of how many over the past 8 years? 21 wideouts were taken in the 7th round over the last four years. Stevie Johnson was a 7th rounder for the Bills in 2008, but Buffalo wasn't depending on him to be their #2 in 2009.

I haven't seen anything from DeMarco Sampson that I didn't see in Stephen Williams. Both were massively overhyped in the preseason by the Flagship Radio Network, and the signal to noise ratio was way, WAY too high.

I think that DeMarco Sampson has a chance to develop into a #4 wideout at some point before the end of his first contract. But I think that 2011 late-round picks and (especially) undrafted free agents were placed at a disadvantage because they didn't get an offseason workout regimen to show what they could do.

Let's say that I feel that DeMarco Sampson has as much of a chance of developing into an NFL starter as Kevin Kolb does. :D

Well I didn't want to spend all night looking at Wide Receivers and those 3 came to mind right away. :)

Sad to see that about DeMarco because I was hoping that maybe we'd hit the jackpot on a late round WR for a change. I do remember how many WRs have come through the Valley giving us high hopes that might happen but it just never seems to come through. For example who was that guy who was the leading WR in NFL Europe or NFL Europe MVP or whatever and couldn't even get on the field for us? And there seems to be at least one every pre season. :(

I dunno. I don't think that's just an Arizona Cardinals thing. I think that local media and fans get excited about some late-round preseason hero every year. Guys like Victor Cruz are literally one in one hundred or more.

To be honest with you, I've had three kids in the last two years, and I haven't spent a ton of time breaking down fourth-quarter preseason games. Maybe Sampson has flashed remarkable abilities that Stephen Williams didn't show the year before.

Back to Richard Marshall.

My fellow alums Aaron Ross and Cedric Griffin are still available, I think.
