He's worth going after for sure. Grab him and Chris Long and we still get a good haul in Free agency

He should be a target. He's young and upcoming but will probably be pretty expensive. However, a young guy entering his prime is the kind of guy you spend the money on.

reminds me of signing Bertrand Berry!

He doesn't have the same work ethic. Gambo tweeted yesterday that the Cards were not interested in Bruce Irvin. Wonder if that is true? I don't expect BASK to deviate from their standards and chase a guy that doesn't meet them. NOt sure what the real deal is with Oliver, but if he loves football and is a hard worker he could be in play.

Per Mike Ortiz Jr 10mins ago on Twitter:

Giants, Jaguars, Falcons and Cardinals amongst teams showing interest in Olivier Vernon. Jags however, are the clear front runner.

Vernon is the best guy left so Keim better use the full court press on him. He led the league in hurries with 41 is only 25 and has 25.5 sacks over the last three years. I asked my nephew if he could play OLB in a 3-4 and he thinks he would be even better in that role so I think Vernon is the guy we need to get.

Problem will be some teams have lots more money than Cards. Heard just now on Doug & Wolf show that Vernon may get over $13 million per year.

Cards could afford it. Easily actually. Just depends on how serious they are at "upgrading" the pass rush.

Wow those are big time numbers. We're going to have to pay big. Oh well get it done

Agree Shane, he would fit in well with the Cards. Also basically the last decent "pass rusher" out there. Rest are 2nd tier.

he was due to get 13m with the transition tag on him if anyone wanted to sign him away from Miami.... five years at around $70mil should lock him up with around 45 guaranteed... a bit expensive for what he has produced so far but if we want a guy, a guy with a future is better than a guy with a past

Olivier Vernon is not a special pass rusher that deserves 15m+.

3.5 sacks
11.5 sacks
6.5 sacks
7.5 sacks

That's a premier pass rusher?? 6.5 and 7.5 in the last 2 years. We have plenty of guys on the roster that can do that. We would be adding mediocrity on top of mediocrity. He's not a difference maker.

The fans will go ballistic when we sign a guy for 15 million and they realize he provides 1 sack every 2 games.

I did a comparison,...and statistically when you look at snaps Vs production....he is an older Marcus Golden.... but the system is also different.

Yeah. This is exactly why teams like the Jaguars are still bad every year despite paying big money in free agency. Mediocre players get hyped up to a point of absurdity and get paid for it.

I really don't think these numbers are bad. He's 25 years old with experience and production at a premium position. As far as I know he hasn't had any serious injury issues or off field problems (please let me know if I'm wrong). I just have a feeling that a team like Jacksonville will blow those numbers out of the water if they have their sights set on him.

the way the nfl cap is expanding...it may look expensive today,...but by the end of the contract it may look like a great deal......assuming of course, he produces......a guy only looks expensive if he sucks, lol.

I am kinda ...meh,...on Vernon....if our staff thinks he fits our system I am okay with whatever deal they want to make...on the other hand I am also okay if they want to pass on him.

I think Vernon being a native of Miami, and alumnus of the U and Jacksonville having stupid money and no spending discretion make him leaving Florida a long shot.
