This is off topic but is Vick about the most overrated player in the NFL? I was watching Vtech the other night and they showed some Vick highlights and, too me, it doesn't look like the guy has improved one bit. I know all the hype is based on his athletic ability but he is the worst passing QB in the league. Defenses are starting to contain his running(thanks to Clancy and the boys) and the Atlanta offense is a mess.Look at the other young QB's in the leagus and you can see them getting better.Leftwich gets better every week.Drew Brees is tearing it up this year.Ben looks to be a stud.Even JOsh has improved from week 1 to where he's on his way to being a viable NFL QB. With Vick i just don't see it.If he can't get outside and run, they score about 8 points.A lot of people will say it's the system he's in and it takes awhile to learn it.I think it's just that he's limited as a passer. These other guys all had new systems to learn and they are on their way to stardom.

Mobility is good, but, at the end of the day, a QB still has to have the ability to sit in the pocket and beat the other team by making throws.

If vick can't do that, he's done.

However, I'm not sure that the offensive scheme he's in is best suited for him. There's got to be a better way to take advantage of his talent than Mora and company have devised.

Last year people were saying the same thing about Donovan McNabb. One playmaking receiver later and...

Vick is playing in a poor system for his talents and his receivers stink.

It's like how McCown isn't to blame entirely for our offense's problems.

Maybe he will suck so bad the Falcons will want to trade him.

Not quite the same Chris. McNabb regardless of having bad WRs was still posting huge Pro-Bowl type #s. Vick is hardly doing that. Besides Vick has one of the top 3 TEs in football(Crumpler) he just doesnt find him for some reason. Peerles Price isnt chopped liver either.

Sorry Shane but McNabb was awful early the year. Maybe you are thinking of someone else.

Game 1 Tampa Bay

19/36 (52.8%) for 148 yards 0 TDs 1 INT Sacked 3 Times

Game 2 New England

18/46 (39.1%) for 186 yards 0 TDs 2 INT Sacked 8 Times

Game 3 Buffalo

18/29 (62.1%) for 173 yards 0 TDs and 0 INT Sacked 2 Times

Game 4 Washington

16/30 (53.3%) for 157 yards 1 TD and 2 INT Sacked 3 Times

Game 5 Dallas

11/26 (42.3%) for 126 yards 1 TD and 0 INT Sacked 2 Times

Game 6 New York

9/23 (39.1%) for 64 yards (yes 64 yards) 0 TD and 1 INT Sacked 3 Times

Game 7 New York

17/23 (73.9%) for 141 yards 1 TD 1 INT and Sacked 5 times

So in total...McNabb's "All Pro" numbers after 7 games were:

108/213 (50.7%), 995 yards (142 yards a game), 3 TDs, 6 INTs and 26 sacks.

Vick's stats after 7 games this year?

84/150 (56%), 1138 yards (162 yards a game) 4 TDs, 6 INTs, and 24 sacks.

Man I didn't even look at those before I compared last year McNabb to this year's Vick. I am too good.

Do you gentlemen realize that Vick was doing fairly well until the Cards defense showed the rest of the league how to defend against him? Chalk one up for Clancy Pendergast.

Vick has had a few bad games recently but do not be lured into thinking he is done and not very good. He would make most teams as a runing back and still has a good arm. He has been in the league less than McCown (I think). Like Arnold Schw---- says "I will be back"! I would swap McCown for him in a New York minute. He is better than any running back on our team.

One HUGE reason I'd rather keep McCown over Vick is $$$.

Vick is gonna want an INSANE payday when his new contract comes up. If McCown resignes, he is not (unless he becomes insane and leads the Cards to a Super Bowl victory this year).

Vick has done what no other QB in NFL history (besides Packers QBs) was able to do. Win a playoff game in Green Bay. Nobody can take that away from him.

For a guy who's "overrated" he sure took a lot of criticism when he was in the draft, and he sure takes a lot of criticism if he has a subpar game now. Just like McNabb. Personally, I don't get why so many people seem to dislike them. They're good guys and are fun to watch.

I have him on my FFT, and he's killin' me. He's had one good game, and 3 games with negative points. Theres no other starting QB's available, so I'm stuck. He better light the donkeys up manana

Tallented don't mean Vick's a great Qb. However, I don't put too much stock in the "pocket passer" is better than "mobile Qbs," arguement, either.

Vick's a young Qb and still have lots of time to learn how to be a good NFL Qb. As for the moment, he is a young Qb that took his team to the playoffs last year and must proove himself again this season.

So, I won't call Vick overrated, or great because he took his team to the playoff last season!!

no thanks. IMO he is nothing but a glorified RB playing QB.

and Dan Reeves got fired for saying the same thing. This week on the road in Denver should tell the football world a whole lot about Vick. Battle of the over rated QBs. Plummer vs. Vick.

252 yds 2 TDs, 0 INTs and 115 yds rushing leading his team to 41 points against the #1 defense in the NFL on the road.

Anyone still want McCown over Vick?

And the most important stat of all: A W. Jake Plummer threw for nearly 500 yards, but only put 21 points on the board, and killed his team's attempt at a 4th quarter comeback.

Vick has really hardly played QB or dropped back to pass during his career. Say what you want, but he isn't Kordell Stewart: a RB/WR with a weak arm that likes to play under center. Vick's arm is the real deal, and his release is the sweetest in the NFL. Any player's career can end on the next snap (just ask Joe Theisman), but Vick just leads his team to win after win. The bonus is that he sells tickets. The Georgia Dome used to be a tomb not unlike Sun Devil Stadium. With Vick, they're turning away ticket buyers from different area codes (Tampa).

Last week the excuse for Vick was that he had terrible recievers. Peerless Price, the most sought after free agent receiver, the year he signed with Atlanta, caught two deep balls for TD's yesterday. After the second, Jim Mora grabbed Price on the sidelines and jostled him around like: "see, I told you we'd get the ball to you EVENTUALLY!" "Get your attitude out of the dumper."

These are the problems caused by a player like Mike. The personnel problems will continue where ever Vick plays quarterrunningwideoutback.

Mora conceded after the game, that the coaching staff was telling him to "just run it" quite a few times against Denver. So on designed bootlegs, and roll out pass plays that get the ball to receivers and running backs down the field, the coaches were telling Vick to "look to run first."

They must figure if the only way to make him effective at QB is to have him run it, even though he risks injury, at least they can win playing this way, and if he does get hurt ... they can put in the real quarterback currently riding the pine.
