I think both of them deserve MVP this year. In my mind, Kobe should be the MVP because he lead his team to #1 spot in the West.
I think both of them have teammates that help them in the arguement. the lakers struggled without gasol and bynum. I think the hornets would struggle without west and chandler.

i think it's funny that Donald doesn't realize that he's basically Andrew, just 15 years older, talking about gushing explosions because of a "cool off these guns into the airplane" move, while then following it up with tales of Kobe Bryant's long lost interview with Brooke Shields, or something ridiculous like that.

Wow Cheese, that really bugs you doesn't it? I mean, why even post that tripe in this thread, when you didn't address me when I posted a response to this same type of post from you earlier...you know, in the thread where it was relevant?

Well, thats how cheese works. He takes a post, finds one word out of context, some fact that may be skewed and attacks the person rather than the context of the post. When you post valid arguments, he either disappears or rants on and on over some semantics rather than basketball. You rarely get responses when you show him HIS errors. And from what i have seen, it's usually a laker fan he does this with. If your opinion doesnt agree with his hollier than thou opinion you are treated like a moron. He's just a bitter person..... that's all.

If Amare really does dedicate himself to defense and rebounding there is no reason this can't be his award next year.

Amare has been in the league 6 years, I have to think if he hasn't learned to play defense yet, he's not going to. I know he's young, but he's been in the league long enough now that I don't really see it happening. If he does do as you say though, he'll definitely move from "good" to "great."

Hey Kobe finally learned how to play team basketball, so you never know.

Actually there's one big reason, which is that he won't be playing on one of the league's best teams. Who's the last MVP whose team finished several games out of first place? It's been so long, I doubt anyone can remember without looking it up. The gap between the Lakers and Suns is big enough now that no Phoenix player has any hope of winning MVP honors.

probably because i didn't read it. and nothing bugs me about Donald. I just like pointing out the hypocrisy of people who rag on others for doing exactly what they do.

dude, I do it to everyone (usually Laker fans... again, the words myopic comes to mind) who makes themselves look like an ass (MYSELF included - just look at the Good Luck Chuck thread in the movie forum where I bashed myself). there's nothing bitter about me. I'm just not the biggest fan of hypocrites, hyperbole and homers. sue me.

And that's a real shame in my opinion. Why can't the league's most valuable player not play for a weaker team?

So Kobe Bryant won this year's award. If he was traded to Memphis and win just 20 games next year, wouldn't he still have the same value as a player?
However, he would probably not receive a single vote.

So yes - Michael Jordan would have won 7-9 MVP awards and LeBron James would have won a couple already. Why not? If he's the most valuable player in the league, give him the award!

and why is it relevant here? Because as nutzo as I find Andrew to be, he's said he's a suns fan so when a Laker fan starts banging on him calling him creepy for acting in a similar manne that that same Laker fan does as far as his favorite player, I'm going to defend the Suns fan. it's that simple.

I happen to find you to be a bitter person who looks to belittle people for having their own opinions that dont agree with yours. Sue me. Your not even worthy of another response from here on out.

Both CP3 and Kobe deserve it this year. It's fine that Kobe gets it, after so many years.

I don't think you can look at it that way. Gasol didn't come to the team till after the Bynum was lost. They did have a little stretch without a decent center but that was only 8 games if I am not mistaken. Gasol came in as a substitution if you will.
That would be like only losing Chandler. West comes closest to Odom but even Odom can do more with the ball than West.

CP3 dismantling the Spurs last night....this guy is the true MVP, not some selfish, self-centered, egotistical bastard

CP3 was amazing last night. Maybe they gave the MVP to kobe as a consolation prize so he doesn't leave empty handed...once again in the play-offs.
The Hornets are not the same team from the Regular season. CP3 has just been amazing since the start of the play-offs. I don't see them slowing down a bit.

'Cept it is nowhere near being close. Not one bit. If I remembered what thread it was in, I'd direct you to my original reply.

And I think you misinterpret the major issues I have with Andrew. He is a fan of a guy; I of a team. He bounces around from team to team; I do not. He doesn't acknowledge flaws in Shaq; I do in Kobe. I don't rag on him for doing things I do.

The common ground is that both he and I know a lot about the respective players (while I happen to know a lot about all the other Lakers as well...I don't see you banging rhetoric in my direction for my fandom of Sasha extending to me editing his wiki page, or my comments on Farmar and his sister, Luke as Lil Wheats, etc.) and that we find ourselves defending those two players against other's comments/claims. And even that is different, in that Andrew can't acknowledge that Shaq is kind of an ass, and I'm fully aware and accepting that Kobe can be and often is a major league dick.

CP3 has been amazing all season long.

The Hornets look no different to me than they did all year long. I just like the way the Lakers match up with them better than I do the Lakers/Spurs.

I think Kobe got it because people were tired of picking a point guard over him. CP3 clearly should have won this because of the whole Assist thing. Not only does he score like mad but he's dishing out assists. But they finally gave one to Bryant.. and that's okay. He'll win this Jazz series for them with a couple o' last second shots watch.

Yeah, we get it, you're a hater, point taken. You can say whatever you want about Kobe's arrogance, or make your childish little rape jokes, but the bottom line is that Kobe is a deserving MVP. Is CP3 deserving as well? Of course he is, usually there are 2-3 deserving players every year, but only one guy wins it. This year, it happened to be Kobe, get over it. I realize you're still busy crying over the Suns and being a childish hater who thinks Rape is a joke, but when you grow up for a second and look at the numbers and what Kobe's done for his team, you'll realize that arrogant jerk or not, he's deserving of the title.
