I just don't see us signing a Rich Paul client but with our GM's connection to Lebron I guess it's conceivable. I don't know that he's much of an improvement over Melton though but at least your scenario leaves room for hopefully re-signing Oubre. White is the poster boy for boom or bust, maybe a slight edge to the boom side.

Based on the numbers, Joseph is actually a step down from Melton, I'm afraid.

I know Dedmon isn't a sexy name but he's actually a pretty good player and light years better than what we have. He checks a lot of boxes for us from the PF position, rebounds the ball well, shoots the 3 well, and plays good defense. Yes, I'd be excited to see what White can do. He has bust potential but he also checks a lot of boxes for us. Good 3 point shooter, can play on or off ball, good size, and defensive potential. Cojo is a great defender, something we need next to Booker in my opinion, and, again, light years better than what we've had. Not my ideal outcome but I'd be excited. I think people are forgetting, we don't really need stars. We have an alpha scorer in Booker and a secondary guy in Ayton that we can dump the ball down low to. What we need is defense, 3pt shooting, and role players. Get that and I think we'll see a vastly improved team.

Joseph can't shoot the 3, he isn't much of a distributor, and his defense isn't as good as Melton's.

I agree. But wanting to do something and actually being capable of doing something are two different things.

I think the Suns are capable of doing something unless they drop the ball.

Re-signing Oubre and improving the point guard and power forward positions is possible. Again, they need to make base hits, not home runs.

I think you are right. Two seasons of base hits, and now they have the depth to run with other teams. Throw a double or triple in there, and now you are going somewhere.

Johnson is not a point guard, period. I am okay with White at 6 as long as we get a veteran point guard to start ahead of him, and we long as we bring White along slowly. I would prefer Collison or Beverley over Rubio, but I begrudgingly could live with Rubio (who is at least a legitimate NBA point guard, albeit a below average one) over the likes of Cory Joseph and TJ McConnell (who in my opinion are not legitimate NBA point guards).

I think we are probably going to see three primary players at the point guard position with the Suns bringing in someone that can start. My guess is the Suns will choose the more reasonable option if they keep Johnson.

Collison would be a nice addition. I'm not sold on Beverley but the Suns can't be overly picky. At least Rubio would be a solid starter bringing Johnson off the bench. If they draft White, he needs to brought along gradually.

Going from zero players at point guard, to three players that can play the position is a vast improvement over last season.

Not a step down, but barely a step up.

I would rather play Melton, because at least he is young. This is why I am so depressed with what Gambo is reporting. At this point I hope he knows nothing, but I don't really believe that.

If it is true Randle wants to come to phoenix and the suns don't persue him - they are incompetent.

If we could get Randle, and we snagged a guy like Ball, or Shai, or gasp D'Angelo Russell, what a young starting five to ride for the next five years or so. I would take a Beverly or Collison if it meant we could get Randle and maybe take a shot at White.

You mean two, not three. Johnson can't play the position.

If the Suns can keep Oubre and their core, they have to explore it. It's possible for the Suns to skip a step on their way up if they do it right.

The problem is the Suns cannot afford everyone this summer. It has to give somewhere.

i don't get why people keep talking Randle. We don't even have the salary cap room to sign him, do we?

if they re-sign oubre, they won't have cap room to improve both the PG and PF spots. they likely only have the MLE to sign one of the two if I'm not mistaken.

Not at this second , they only need to do a trade or stretch johnson to dump salary though, really wouldn't be hard to sign oubre and randle , but a PG afterwards would require a few moves

I think we have to move TJ is what guys are saying. Otherwise, Gambo has been saying the veteran PG has to be the Mid Level Exception, which is why he named those four players as a reference. It is tight. Guys are throwing fits, but the only way we can do things is trade, MLE, and 6th and 32cnd picks. To me it's going to take two seasons to get us up to a level that's competitive.

I thought the Suns might do a trade to fill one of the two positions but there is not much talk about it. If they don't, I think this is what they have to use.

I'm definitely not a cap expert. I suppose if Oubre would wait until the Suns sign their free agents, they could go over the cap. It's hard to see this happening though.

I disagree on the value of Cojo but I agree with this in principle. I just can't see Cory fitting in as a starter next to Booker, it will leave Devin too exposed given the guy seems to disappear when the defense pays attention to him. I agree he'd fit defensively but Melton already gives us that IMO.

Iirc, If the suns use the stretch provision Tyler Johnson's contract then they should be able to sign Randle. Although with the amount of money available, guys like Randle are going to be overpaid

Bingo. In my opinion, Joseph is just an older, more expensive version of Melton, who has no hope of improvement from what he is (whereas Melton at least has some chance, however slim it might be). He would be a horrible signing.

I would be VERY happy to get Dedmon. Maybe more then Randle.
