We don't have the foundation (solid draft picks across the team) or general talent to compete for anything right now. We don't have quality starters and our depth is bad.
Free agency isn't going to help for a couple of years...we have to build through the draft.

Bottom line - we have a roster mostly void of talent and a top 5 paid QB (ACV). You can't build a championship team that way or at least - nobody has ever done it. Why do we think we can do it?
We do have unproven young talent. We will add a lot more next draft.

It’ll take 3 years minimum to stock this team. Probably another two years to sniff the playoffs depending on the other divisional teams.

Man, I wish there was a part of the off-season where you could sign veteran NFL players to increase the talent on your roster. Especially when you fired your previous GM because he was bad at drafting.

Kazir White has looked really good at training camp and in the few snaps he has played in preseason.

Krys Barnes and Josh Woods have also impressed at ILB.

Froholdt has been way more than I expected at center. Heading into training camp I wasn’t sure that we had a center on the roster. Now I feel a lot more confidence with the Great Dane starting at center.

Elijah Wilkinson has been lined up with the starters at Guard since the beginning of training camp.

LJ Collier was brought in from Seattle and has looked like one of the starters on the DL

Carlos Watkins who was brought in from the Cowboys also has looked very solid on the DL.

I don't get the Froholdt love, or the nickname lol he hasn't fumbled a snap or anything but he ain't directing traffic or pushing anybody around like you see real Centers do - just my opinion but I think fans will eventually sour and want better

He's easily been the most physical and athletic Center the Cards have had in many years. He's getting out on screens and blocking down field...body slamming DLs, etc. He still needs polish in his overall technique, but so far I think he's been better than any of us expected, by a mile.

Hopium at its finest. There is no reason for Frodo love at this point.

This is the way I'm looking at it as well. It's not to say I might not get grumpy if they don't play well.

This upcoming season, the measure for me is playing good football, not winning.

I want two early first round picks in 2024.

That’s the definition of the NFL of the 70’s. If it takes that long, the HC will be fired and you’re back to square 1. 2023 is an audition for Keim drafted players to show their worth. Otherwise, they will be gone in 2024. Either way, the MOJG process rolls on.

And you suddenly know he was a good signing based on...? I know--hope :)

I went back and watched every snap with him in the game. It’s easy to follow him since he is the one snapping the ball.

He has had zero issues snapping the ball when the QB is under center or in shotgun. This has been an issue for the Cardinals the last couple of seasons. His shotgun snaps are right where the need to be.

He is very strong and has no issues with big bull rushers. He easily gets to the second level and makes down field blocks.

He is very physical and plays with a nasty streak. I’m sure you have seen the video of him against the Broncos destroying a DB and tossing Zach Allen to the ground like a rag doll. On the first offensive play of the Chiefs game he knocked #93 to the ground flat on his back.

What did you see?

At this juncture, I would like to take the opportunity to trademark the nickname "Frohold"

And if we start getting hit with 10 yard penalties I will say "I Frohold you so"

You expect this to be a four-win team; how good can the starters on a four-win team be?

I’m pretty sure that i said 3 win.

But yes as i said in another thread there are major questions at CB and Edge with regards to the starters. As well as a general depth issue. Clearly this team doesn’t have the depth that the Chiefs do as was evident in the box score. One or two key injuries to the starters and this team is in big trouble. Not to mention that Kyler is out for an unknown time and will clearly be rusty when he does get back.

So yes by the time that Kyler is back and has shaken off the rust I don’t believe that the Cardinals will have enough healthy starters to win many games. Unless they get really lucky and somehow completely avoid the injury bug. How often does that happen in the NFL?

Agreed and I'll say it again these are things you don't see just looking at the box score. I'll say as of right now center is low on the totem pole if things to worry about.

I haven't seen anything from him. For one, it's the preseason, and I don't generally watch preseason games. For another, I just bought a house, so I'm a bit preoccupied.

I have no idea how good a signing it was, but all the early indications are positive. Through the first two PS games he has graded pretty well. And most of the "GM's in waiting" have jumped off the, "it was a bad signing" bandwagon. Are you still on it?

It wasn't a bad signing if we were bringing him in for nothing more than a shot at the roster. It was a bad signing framed as if he were penciled in as the starter. I would absolutely still stick with that point.
