Adam Shefter tweet minutes ago:
"Add the Arizona Cardinals to the mix of teams that includes Dolphins, Jets and Redskins expected to be interested in Colts QB Peyton Manning"

From what I'm hearing the Dolphins are expected to bring in Flynn and the Redskins will be in position to draft a QB in April, it could be between the Cards and Jets IMO.

It's 1327 on Sunday afternoon, I'm sort of napping on the couch with the TV on and ESPN just ran the story that Peyton may be heading to AZ. I jumped up and shook my head then went cruising the internet looking for a story and so far found nothing.
Anyone?

I was half watching when they had that report.

I think they said AZ was very serious and hoping to have a "Kurt Warner" repeat with Peyton at QB.

Peyton will be a free agent.

My money goes on Peyton going to the Jets. The Mannings would own New York.
Manning would pull the Jets locker room together. He would be staying in the conference he is familiar with. He would be going to a franchise that appears to be a QB away from a serious playoff team.

Yep. My guess is he'll choose an AFC team with a chance to win. That leaves Miami out. Don't underestimate marketing money.

He ain't comin here.

I hope Peyton sees what we have here, especially Fitz, and wants to make a few SB runs.

Few things.. Cards have a dome.. Jets don't..

Jets don't have any receivers..

Why would Archie want to own NY? That would be overshadowing Eli even more if they played in the same stadium (that isn't a dome btw)

At this point who would want to play for anyone with the last name Ryan?

All of this means nothing though cuz at no telling if he is even healthy.. I'm waiting to see about medical report before I get excited about anything..

We have a dome...
We have better weather....
We have Fitz....
We have a better division to win in....
We have an aggressive passing attack.....
We aren't coached by a jackass.....

That last one should count more than once....

ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported on Sunday Countdown that the Cardinals and Dolphins will be among the teams that pursue Peyton Manning should he become available.

Manning's health is obviously a huge stumbling block, but if he's medically cleared we fully expect Peyton to hit the open market as a free agent after his $28M roster bonus in denied. According to Mort, the Fins will target Manning "above all other names," including free agent Matt Flynn. Per Schefter, Arizona's interest in Manning is "the real deal," and Cardinals brass would feel better about the acquisition after Kurt Warner's late-career success in the desert.

Cards went 8-8 with poor QB play. Manning and his camp will see that as a huge positive. Dolphins front office is a mess, they went after Harbaugh with Sparano still under contract. Jeff Fisher took less money to go to St Louis over Miami. They have a crappy stadium and their best reciever has attitude issues. Arizona is the better situation.

You have no clue what you are talking about.

They have no weapons there, just had a very public circus to end the season, Rex Ryan is the opposite of Tony Dungy/Caldwell, they play outside, the Manning bros (ESP Eli) hate the comparisons that would only go crazy if both were in NY, and also he would have to get past the Pats and Tom Brady just to win division.

ESPN and the media want the Jets. But when you look at the bigger picture it makes little sense other then " oh it's NY. He'll go there"

Hate it when people speak in absolutes based on their own bad opinions.

Great post if he leaves Indy, Arizona would be my "safe money" bet as a landing spot for Manning for all the reasons you pointed out in your post. The Cards are much more stable and better run than the Jets IMO.

Understatement of the year. We may be Super Bowl favorites if he comes or at least in Top 3.

Just feel like this is going to happen. found out yesterday the decision on Manning roster bonus is 3/8 and decision on Kolb roster bonus is 3/15. Timing sets up beautifully. I think like the Cards preached all last year prior to getting Kolb, we are a very attractive situation to an available QB.

Well see if he's healthy come early March. But if Bidwills are going to pony up the cash (and from Schefters report it sounds positive) then I REALLY like our chances.

I dont see him going to the Jets. Would be overshadowing Eli, I dont see the Mannings doing that to each other. Also Rex Ryan would be a negative factor, especially with all the crap he talked to the Giants this year. And as bad as Sanchez has been I doubt the Jets quit on him yet.

As for "if he is healthy"... its worth the gamble. We already have a health question mark just as serious in Kolb's head, so its not like we are taking any added risk, but we are dramatically increasing the potential reward.

They have no weapons there,

Santonio Holmes, Plaxico Burress, Dustin Keller, Shonn Green and one of the best o-lines in the NFL say otherwise. Peyton is also well know for making mediocre to average receivers look productive.

Don;t forget the FA market for WRs is deep this offseason
just had a very public circus to end the season, Rex Ryan is the opposite of Tony Dungy/Caldwell,

Still don't get why this is such an issue for everyone. Yes, Ryan is looney tunes, but he is passionate, eccentric, and takes a hands-off approach to the offense.
they play outside,

How many elite quarterbacks play indoors other than Drew Brees?

Rodgers, Eli, Brady, and others do just fine outdoors. Plus, there is only a slight drop off in stats from indoors to out for Peyton (take into account they are all away games).

In addition, how many elite free agent QBs are lining up in front of dome stadiums to sign a contract simply because the team plays indoors?

the Manning bros (ESP Eli) hate the comparisons that would only go crazy if both were in NY,

Doubt it. I would believe they'd enjoy the sibling rivalry in New York. Plus, they aren't afraid to share endorsement deals. See Oreo commercials.

and also he would have to get past the Pats and Tom Brady just to win division.

The Jets are a good QB away from supplanting the Pats in the division. The Pats defense was abysmal this season and ranked amongst the worst all time in pass defense. The Jets are light years ahead of the Pats on defense. Put Peyton behind center and I would imagine they'd be the favorites to win the AFC East

ESPN and the media want the Jets. But when you look at the bigger picture it makes little sense other then " oh it's NY. He'll go there"

Well, duh. But to dismiss the idea because of this notion is ridiculous. IMO, I presented enough substance to back up a potential move to the Jets.

Hate it when people speak in absolutes based on their own bad opinions.

I hope you're not lumping me into this category because you know I think there is a good possibility he goes to New York.

But who knows...maybe you'll buy me a Peyton Manning jersey if he comes to the Cards, after all ;)

Dude I'm not going to go blow by blow here as i don't care enough to do multiple quotes right now even though I've told you 100s of times I think you are wrong. I bet I could split hairs and make a case for the Dolphins, Redskins, and Broncos too just like you did for the Jets.

I'm just going to say I think you must be a closet Jets fan for as much as you've gone to the table for them this past two weeks even though there has been no reason too and no reports like there have been from Shefter and Casserly to keep you going. So Remind me again why you are so excited for Peyton to go to the Jets? :)

Thank you. The guy (I won't put his blog name here) that said AZ is where QB's go to end their career has a valid point. But with this coaching staff one took us to the super bowl. But the same staff thought Kolb was the answer. He just may be with a full off season and training camp. This is getting scary because Peyton may be done as well.

Peyton won't go to an AFC team for one reason only. He wants to stay away from that powerhouse named Tebow.

Pardon me, but I do have a clue....it might not be correct, but alas it is my opinion. And do you think if Manning went to the Jets they would simply stand pat?
And for the recore YOU have no clue...nor does anybody else. I'll respect your opinion and you should do the same for everybody else or else people will look at you as a dweeb..and we don't want that.

You are right. It is an opinion. But not all are created equal. In fact some are really bad opinions based on no logic or insight.

I'll let you finish that story ;)
