I would say the odds are better than that. I would say about 1 in 24 or so. I figure there are 31 teams left and at least 7 of those that wouln't be interested.
Our O-line and sack rate that comes with it is the biggest equation to me amigo. Manning is smart enough to audible out of certain plays, but he is also smart enough to audible out of getting dealt here. Warner could take a lickin and keep on tickin, Manning needs a place to be comfortable in, that aint us.

If Manning has a say so (I believe he will), that kinda crosses Az off the list. No protect= no Manning, he's an older QB that can pick his spot. If we get this done it would be a miracle, but then again Grimm is still here so anything can happen. :p

I don't think the OL will be a large factor in Manning's decision. Team don't blitz Mannning because he gets rid of the ball too quickly. It's not like Indy had great OL's. Manning made them look good. Tarik Glenn is about the only good one, at least above average, they had.

Arizona offers the option of continuing to play in a white helmet with a grey facemask. I think that tips the scales.

Ok if u wanna say that the odds of it happening are about .00000000000000000000000009% of occurring then I'll agree with you both. Is there a chance? in that way of thinking sure. But we and you guys deep down inside no better. This ain't happening!
So you're saying there's a chance? :p

Jeff Saturday. Starting Center for 12 years. One of the best ever.

Ryan Diem. Starting Guard for 10 years.

Colts just got old.

If he hits the market then we have as good a shot as anyone. We have the best WR of any team that would want him, we play indoors and could afford him (as long as Cambell leaves).

Campbell will at least be franchised. Mutually exclusive from any prospect of signing Peyton.

Manning will command 15+ a year... Not sure our cap situation is as friendly as some think. I mean they could probably get creative and make it work but others would have to be cut or restructured.

Couldn't the Cards keep Kolb and still have enough room to go for Manning and then trade Kolb?

What if they got rid of Kolb and got Manning? Would they have enough money to extend CC and make a play for other FAs such as DeSean Jackson?

Kolb sucks, he has no value. They probably would still have enough money for Jackson, but would never go after him.

cap room will not be the deal breaker, and campbell will either stay or go completely independent of any miracle that brings peyton to the desert. if peyton shows up, kolb is gone, period.

If he passes his physical and that's a real big if, our insurance bill for him will be bigger than Kolbs deal. I love the Peyton, but not here at this time. IMO 3 operations on his neck in 18 months tells the whole story. Not to mention our O-line. If Indy don't want him for at least 1 year after Luck it would be hard to suggest he would stand up in the desert.

As in the Browns being interested in him?

Also - Archie Manning was quoted recently as saying he was unsure whether Peyton would be ready to play next season.

Given the juxtaposition of that quote with the Peyton to Cards rumor, a possible translation:

No way he plays for AZ.

Ha, we'll see...considering his contract and performance, I doubt anyone would give up anything of note for him, but we'll see.

Luck could pull an Eli on draft day.............

It's not entirely out of the picture that the Colts could trade down from the top pick..

Nice to see this year has produced another unlikely rumor. Last year, it was the "LeBeau to Arizona" chatter. Of course, there were the several seasons where Larry Fitzgerald was all but gone from the first flight out of Sky Harbor..

Never dull moments around here. :)

Peyton is not playing for the Colts next year, because the Colts will not spend 28 million on a Qb and then the other 22 million that the first pick's bonus will cost. It is a salary cap league, and you can't justify spending 30+ million on 2 QBs when you have to fill a roster.

Manning will be cut. I'm not sure where this will take him, but I have to believe that he will prefer a dome team over an outdoor. Same goes as I think that he will play in a "warm" city, rather than a cold one. It is hard not to see him playing in the South with his ties and history in that area.

Good point. The Packers got Rodgers for a very low # for a first round QB and he and Farve only cost them something like $12.5 million against the cap.

However, Manning has restructured his contract to help the team in the past so it could happen again.

Peyton Manning has agreed to restructure his contract with the Indianapolis Colts to save the team $8.2 million in salary cap space.

The deal was first reported by ESPN.com's John Clayton.

The Super Bowl MVP was to receive a $10 million roster bonus during the offseason but by converting the money into a regular signing bonus, the Colts can prorate that amount over the remaining four years of his deal. That saves Indianapolis space under the cap, which is $109 million.

True, he could, but then the Colts would have backloaded, guaranteed money owed to a player who might not play 3 more years if any at all. No matter how the bonuses are switched around, they still have to get paid. I just can't see the Colts back loading that 28 million over the next 4 years when they aren't sure if he will play next year.

if it is written in as a roster bonus it does not have to be paid unless the player is on the roster on the given date....thus, they could cut him prior to...and save the cap space and the cash.

I don't know if I'm reading to much into this but check out Marcus Fitzgeralds twitter

@****; if I told u what I KNEW a new dust storm would come to az & put smiles on everyone's faces. BUT, I'll let u all wait 2c. #TheGift

And also in a reference some Guy made a comment about the Cardinals not getting Peyton Manning and M.Fitzgerald put: Who are you Adam shefter?

Just remember Marcus did know about Edwards. Not to say peyton is definitely coming to the cards, but I do think they will take a shot at him.

But in order to restructure that bonus, it would have to be converted into a regular signing bonus which would then be owed regardless of his status with the team.

Apparently Casserly got Arizona from the Manning Camp...........

So if it's true AZ is on the short list the only question is would Whiz/Graves/Bidwill be smart enough and non-loyal enough to send Kolb packing after he moved his entire family here?

Tough call...................
