Now you lost it completely.

Not even going to start listing all the scandals under Colangelo.

I would love to see this list. Also, make sure you separate player stupidity from actual scandals or controversy caused by the owner. There is a difference.

If you can't see a huge difference between Sarver and Colangelo your the one who has lost it.

Jason Kidd beating his wife?
Kevin Johnson showering with an underage girl?
Richard Dumas drug abuse?
Three current and two former Suns players pushing drugs in 1987?

If Sarver is repsonsible for the Morris off-court behavior then surely Colangelo is a druglord.

Ok, so you can google archived news clippings that took place before you could even dribble a basketball. I and many others here lived through the 35 years of Colangelo as an owner...we watched the games. We followed the team every day, from season to season. The high's and the low's.
You're a young fan. Nothing wrong with that either, except that you continue to spout off about things that you didn't experience and know next to nothing about.

The Suns were considered one of the finest, successful, well run organizations in the entire NBA under Colangelo's watch. The 80's drug scandal being the lone black eye during that time...but to be honest, everyone who had cash to burn was on cocaine in the 80's

I'm not talking about player scandals, anyway. I'm talking about being a clueless owner who in 10 short years has run this thing into the ground.

I do not see Sarver being indicted on charges of wrecking a basketball team but we agree, it would be nice. :)
Actually Mainstreet, I meant how do we know that Sarver won't sell anytime soon? I've read a few different fans say this. Based on what?

I don't see how anyone could have any idea of his future as the Suns owner either way.
IMO he could remain for the next 10 years or suddenly sell a year from now.

OK, lets' review.

  • Jason Kidd - nothing to do with Jerry - players action Jerry responded by trading him.
  • Kevin Johnson - Noting to do with Jerry - They moved on from him
  • Richard Dumas - Nothing to do with Jerry - Players own choice - they tried to get him help and moved on from him
  • Other Drug issues - Again nothing to do with Jerry.

So far you have come up with nothing related to Jerry. These scandals were caused by PLAYERS. Sarver on the other hand has made decisions that made this organization look foolish (business approach to running the FO), alienated players, selling picks, made us become the ex-destination, loss of respect from other teams (Golden state going back on agreed to trade). Sarver making an ass of himself during owners meetings and players negotiations.

These are all actions Sarver is responsible for. Ten years later this team under Sarver is not a contender. Jerry on the other hand still garners much respect in the basketball world (see National team). See the difference?

My god this season just keeps getting worse and worse.

Seriously, on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being very little and 10 being most, how embarrassing and shameful has this season been?

IMO, its a 9. Fight for playing time at about every position, offense problems, defense problems, 3pt shooting problems, rebounding problems, multiple players unhappy with limited role, players ripping the FO publicly, FO backing the wrong players, missing the bus, coach that has completely lost the team and then rips the players publicly and now off court legal issues.

And I'm sure I missed some things as well.

Some of these Suns players a disgrace to the city of Phoenix. Please get them the hell out.

And I agree with the sentiments above PLEASE get rid of Babby. He's a fat idiot who is making TON OF MONEY while not living up to any of it.

I'm with BC, lets all convince Grant Hill to put together a bid for this team with the investors he had lined up for the Hawks. Sarve please sell and just go enjoy a nice drink on the beach for the rest of your life.

And how is Sarver resonsible for the Morris brothers? Learn to read dude.

Also claiming Sarver is responsible for Golden State backing out of a trade because the player they wanted was still on the board, and incidently was the same player the Suns targeted. That is just ridiculous.

Not to mention Jerry Colangelo and his son sold plenty of picks and made cost cutting moves.

The rest of your blame is based on hearsay and ESPN gibberish.

Ten years under Sarver and this team already had the best era in Suns history. Call me back when Sarver owns the team for near forty years and still has not won anything.

No. Only in YOUR own myopic Suns history. You know nothing of the best, most successful era in Suns history because you weren't there.

Not sure why i'm even bothering with you

uh yeah I was, claiming that any other era other than the Nash era was the "best" Suns era is delusional non-sense.

First, Get your facts straight. Colangelo stepped in when the '87 drug scandal was happening, put a group together and purchased the Suns. He then proceeded to clean house. If this had not occurred you, an we, would not even have a franchise to root for. It was a bad time and he single handedly saved the franchise. He could have easily bailed instead.

Ten years under Sarver and this team already had the best era in Suns history. Call me back when Sarver owns the team for near forty years and still has not won anything.
Are you joking???
Why don't you go back to the googles and compare these last 10yrs to 88-98. Or even 76-86

Also, Sarver inherited a smart FO that put together the team under his first 5yrs. Since then Sarver has proceeded to degrade this franchise at a seemingly record pace. Good owners make their franchises better not worse.

As for selling the franchise it might happen in the next 5yrs. The franchise value has almost doubled since he purchased it and the arena is going to be a hot topic if a few years. Even though it's still the purple palace, it's old by NBA standards. Sarver is an investor/business man first and foremost, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him sell it in the next few years.

The problem with that is there are very few owners like a Colangelo or a Cuban anymore who have the commitment to the community and want to win.

I do really believe that if moving the franchise would increase the value of the franchise he would do it in a flash. His only real loyalty is to is own pocketbook.

Gambo went on and on yesterday about trading or cutting the twins. Any sort of rash move right now is extremely dangerous. Their trade value is in the dumps at this moment, so trading them is probably not a good idea. Let the court system take its course. I am sure a sane course of action will become apparent. This might be exactly what these two knuckleheads need to grow up.

That said. They are not under achievers. Aside from the immaturity off the court and the techs the Morris twins are the rare draftees that seem to be turning out just about exactly where the scouts said they would.

I am not a Morris fan, in fact, I was really hoping they would be traded this summer. No real point in trying to do that now.

The Nash era CLEARLY is the best the Suns have been, if you can't see that then there is no point of arguing with you. The 92-95 team does not come close, final appearance or not.

You old farts seem to suffer from serious nostalgia syndrome.

And thanks I was alive and following the 90s Suns era.

When Colangelo has bought the team hardly matters, he had been pretty much in charge anyway. So if you want to blame Sarver for the Morris twins than Colangelo is guilty of many similiar incidents.

Not to mention if you despise Sarver so much, guess who sold to him.

This is true, not knowing if Sarver might choose to sell the franchise. I think he wants to keep the franchise.

However, the most worrisome wrinkle that will forthcoming is that Sarver will demand a new arena and the inherent concern, he might want to move the team if he does not get it.

Every owner in the NBA will look for a new arena after 30 odd years. Also Sarver/Suns afaik invested considerable amount of money in the past to keep the arena semi competetive/updated at least.

What naivety to think Colangelo wouldn't do the same.

No YOU should try reading. Nowhere did I state that Sarver is responsible for this either. I was simply replying to your ridiculous claim of the Jerry years and the scandals. I specifically outlined why under the Sarver years this franchise has been an embarrasment. in fact, the most success this team has had under Sarver was leftover actions made possible by Jerry's actions before he sold and even his influence in the office after.

Also, what freaking drugs are you on? This has been the best era in Suns history?

:biglaugh:

On what freaking planet? Did your Lopez brain kick in?

There is absolutely no way in any shape or form Sarver's ten years can be construed as the franchises best. I guess the sky is green too dude.

P.S. Jerry is responsible for the Nash era. Sarver inherited the blue print and the players Jerry put together. Jerry was still with the FO even after he sold.

I don't believe that's what he said. There is no way anyone could reasonably assert that Sarver has had the best 10 year run but it's not unreasonable to say his 10 year run included the best Suns era. I'd disagree with that but it's more personal preference than fact.

Last time I checked SArver and Amare flew to Dallas recruit Nash.

But yeah twist it as much as you can, you must be really frustrated.

The Barkley era is a joke compared to the Nash era. Nice finals appearance but almost embrassed by the #8 seed in the first round. Next 2 years choking against maybe the worst NBA champions ever, the Houston Rockets when MJ was retired.

I didn't say anything about Jerry Colangelo.

Actually JC bought the Suns with the intent to keep them in Phoenix. And he spent boundless time and influence to get the Suns a new arena. Who is to say, JC might not have pushed to move the Suns if a new arena had not been built. However, there was not any doubt JC was loyal to the Suns, first and foremost.

Colangelo played a huge role in bringing Nash to Phoenix. Yes, even after it was no longer his team.

You think a new rookie owner and a super young Amare is what convinced Nash to sign with Phoenix?

Nash in Dallas was basically what Harden was in OKC. A star waiting for his opportunity to get his own team. Everyone knew this.

OMG. Are you sure it's the "old farts" with memory issues?

http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/2015...-guard-leave-wasnt-worst-personnel-move.html/

Amare - "I remember going to Dallas and recruiting Steve, with [then Phoenix Suns owner] Jerry Colangelo, flying on the plane, sitting down with Steve,” Stoudemire said Sunday. “I was the only player there. I was extremely nervous flying with all the owners."

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/da...ot-lucky-because-he-really-wanted-to-stay.ece

Jerry - “We had a few conversations back and forth, and then I made the offer to Steve and Bill. Their intention was to give Mark Cuban one more chance to match. And he thought it was too long of a contract to give Steve.“So Steve and Duffy came over, and we shook hands. I remember Steve saying, ‘I’m back.’

You must be so desperate slinslin but yeah go ahead and twist it. I know your frustrated but to bash on the Barkley era is reaching Lopez/Beasley levels for you.

Sarver was there but he was along for the ride. He had zero clout and nobody knew him. He said on multiple interviews he wasn't going to interfere with what Jerry had set in motion and let Jerry help guide him at the start of his ownership. Nice try!

Back away from the keyboard.....it will be OK.

^^That is something that any true Suns fan should know imo considering Nash resigning here was one of the most important days/events in franchise history.

^^That is something that any true Suns fan should know imo considering Nash resigning here was one of the most important days/events in franchise history.

Not to mention during the presser the two voices talking about Nash were Jerry and Bryan.

http://www.nba.com/suns/news/nash_presser_040714.html

Nash - "I’d just like to say thank you very much to Bryan and Jerry, and the whole staff, and everyone that flew out to Dallas to recruit me. It felt very special to be wanted and to be loved. That was the main reason why I came back."

Notice how Sarver was a throw in under "whole staff". He specfically called out Bryan and Jerry.

Bill Duffy - "I just want to say that I think the main reason Steve was able to come back was the relationship he had the first time he was here. It’s very rare for a player to be drafted and then return. Five, six years ago when Steve had emerged, Bryan and I had discussions about Steve, and whether he would stay here or go elsewhere. The way it was handled was in such a classy fashion that there was never any reluctance to return, so it’s a credit to you, Bryan, that this has come full circle.

Nash - Not only because of Jerry and Bryan, and the relationship that we started eight years ago… The franchise from head to toe has always been well respected throughout the world of sports and this city is obviously is a terrific place to play, especially in the season that we play.

Again...Sarver nowhere mentioned. In fact, he specifically references the Franchise in it's current state...you know the one Jerry was responsible for.

Evidently it's all us "old farts" according to slinslin that are suffering from some sort of mass dementia.

roflmao

Nash situation was nothing like Harden.

Nash was an allstar, Nash was a starter, Nash was an established veteran, Nash was a free agent

Harden was not an allstar, Harden was not a starter, Harden was on his rookie contract, Harden was under contract

And to say that Colangelo was the reason that Nash chose to come back when he did not even go to recuirt him is absurd. Amare Stoudemire might have been super young but he was the ROY and an absolute sensation back then and known budding superstar around the league.

Did Slinslin just completely ignore the facts I posted above that proved him 100% wrong?!?! This truly might be a new level of denial on Slinslin's part. Desperate times for desperate measures I guess.

Here is Nash's comment on how much he interacted with Sarver:

Nash - "As much as could be expected. He was there with all these guys to come and recruit me in Dallas"

LMAO. Slinslin.
