1 game back in the division and 5 division games to go. Not worried. Our defense played well on the road, and QB had a poor game but will learn from it.

Kevin Kolb is much better than anything the put on the field last year at QB. And with only 10 starts you have to believe that he will get better. We got crushed in Seattle last year if I remember correctly.

This is really only the case if we play well or beat a good football team. Based on what I saw from the Giants this morning I expect them to come in and handle us easily. So far, what I've witnessed is us playing mediocre football against three mediocre teams.

Does anyone expect the Panthers, Redskins, or Seahawks to make the playoffs this year? If we were actually good, we'd have dismantled those teams. The question I'm asking myself is are we merely mediocre, or are we awful?

If we can hang with New York, I'll have some faith we can pull it together, stay in the NFC West chase for the year, and finish around 7-9. If they take us apart, I'll be convinced that we're topping out at 6 wins and Whis enters 2012 on a very hot seat.
Washington 28
NY Giants 14

The NFL is a week to week league. Pitt didn't dismantle Indy, Balt lost to a bad Titans team. NE blew a 21 point lead to Buffalo. Just because a team looks good one week doesn't mean they will the next. Every team is going to have a few horrible losses. Didn't Cleveland beat NE by about 30 last year,in Cleveland?

It's hard to get wins on the road.

Okay... but Pitt is going to win 10 or more games. So is Baltimore (they didn't seem to get tripped up by a roadie to St. Louis, did they? Buffalo is starting to seem legit. Do you think that Brady is going to throw four picks every game (and still only lose by a score--do you think if Kolb had thrown 4 picks the score would've been as close?) Also, that Redskins game was at home in Week 1. A lot of strange things happen in Week 1.

Good teams have the occasional slip-up. Bad teams allow scores to stay close against other. Clearly wins in the NFL aren't random, otherwise everyone would finish within a game of 8-8. You have a handful of dominant teams who win 10-13 games a year. We're clearly not like those teams.

But, three disappointing games doesn't equal a trend, I guess? I mean, Carolina didn't get their first win until they played at home against a rookie QB. Clearly we're a better team than they are, right? Just look at the standings!

Would be, could be, should be ...

1-2 is the reality. :(

Agreed.

There are plenty of teams that have won close games.

You can't play "woulda, coulda, shoulda" because then you have to play it both ways.

I can easily write "Reality: Cardinals could be 3-0...." and back it up.

I can write Carolina was lucky they had an INT called back or it would have been a blowout.

I can write the Redskins lucked out because Stucky fumbled the ball away.

JG, is write. 1-2 and it is what it is.

The Cardinals were on the right side of a close game, the wrong side of a close game, and lost a game they deserved to lose with thier collective poor play, and horrid coaching.

Our 2009 team was one of if not the best teams we've had since Coryell. Solid veteran football team. Won more games than any team since the 1970's. They were 6-2 away and didn't lose a road game until the 12th week of the season. Won their first two road games by the combined score of 52-20. Beat the Giants and crushed Chicago on the road.

Can I just co-sign this as my thoughts for the entire week ?

Completely agree with your entire post, but especially what is quoted above.

You are using excuses(strange things happen week 1) to back your argument but totally disregard when they don't.

Obviuosly, there are better teams than others but I wouldn't base the entire Cards season on how they fare against NY because the Giants looked yesterday.

My point is strange things happen on the road which makes it tough to win such as Brady throwing 4 picks or a NFL kicker coming up 10 yards short on a FG under 50 yards.
