Goldy needs to skip the All-Star game and just do nothing for a week

The past two weeks shows why Goldy is not in elite player is a very good player just not elite

I was thinking a fake injury and just taking the week off would be good for him. Still if he's not elite who is?

Exactly.

A 2 week slump doesn't downgrade you from MVP talks to not even elite.

The whole damn team is in a slump, it's infuriating but let's not go off the deep end yet people.

Just got back from the game... another dud. Ugggh... Corbin actually pitched well, certainly well enough to have deserved better. But our offense continues to SUCK! And, I honestly can't believe the condition of the field... Peralta absolutely would've caught that ball had he not spun out on the horrendous turf! Seriously, it's beyond bad... totally embarrassing!

Yeah, what is the freakin deal with the grass? I noticed it when I went to the game the other day but didn't want to say anything.

I know that Chris Herrmann is our 3rd Catcher, 3rd Left Fielder, etc., and is therefore expendable. But his pinch hitting average is either the lowest, or among the lowest, in baseball.

Why is he constantly sent up to pinch hit in key situations late in the game? Simply because he is a lefty hitter?

Today, the only reason his double play ball became a force out is because the shortstop bobbled the ball.

We started to smell the upper echelon of the National League but we are obviously not ready for it.

Lost 4 of the last 5.

Have scored 1 run in the last 19 innings.

Disgraceful.

IMO this whole series was a hangover from the Rodney debacle.

They all need to go blow it out for a couple of days and start over.

When you do this every year, it is an issue.

Don't get me wrong, I love Goldy. But we tend to overvalue him

He's still top 3 in almost every statistical category. These slumps are maddening but he's not the only great player to ever have them.

2013-2017 MLB batters:

1. Mike Trout 40.1 WAR
2. Josh Donaldson 32.1 WAR
3. Paul Goldschmidt 26.7 WAR
4. Andrew McCutchen 24.4 WAR

They seem to come at the wrong time. Great stats, but he's not the player to carry a team. Again, love him on the team, just wouldn't be my MVP candidate at this point.

Isn't it possible that his slumps always "seem to come at the wrong time" because he IS carrying the team, at least offensively?

If they came at the "right time" that means there are other players there to pick up the slack. Baseball isn't an individual sport.

Who is your MVP?

That is another way to look at it, and valid. Goldy started slow, but the Dbacks still played .600 ball.

In the Dbacks last 12 games, they have gone 4-8, and Goldy is hitting .186, with only two RBI's, 7 walks and 16 strikeouts. That is bad.

An MVP Candidate shouldn't have that bad of a slump.
