If true, sad news indeed.

Rest in peace Pat. And, thank you for your selfless courage and living your convictions instead of just talking.

:(

That's terrible. I put a lot of heat on this guy as a football player, but he was a very good human being, who paid the ultimate price in Bush's war of opportunity.

Sad day for Cardinal fans. We should all wear black armbands with Tilly's number on them to the first preseason game.

I saw a flash headline on another site and had to rush here.

Truly, a sad day for the Cardinals, its fans, Arizonans and our country. If anyone ever needs to look for a hero, someone to look up to, look no further than Pat Tillman.

I think many of us will wear a heavy heart for a long time....

Very inspirational guy. It was very refreshing to see someone put duty, honor and country before a fat paycheck.

You will be missed, Pat. :(

I'll raise a glass to you and your service to our great country.

We should all be proud. No matter what team you root for.

I just hope that ESPN and others make a point of this. How this is the ultimate sacrifice, not what you do on the football field.

Jim O. I dont know what you can do about this but try and tell someone about this retiring of his Jersey idea to some of the guys in charge. This is a great idea.

Awful news. Its not supposed to end up this way.

But lets not use Pat's death as a political tool, or martyr him for whatever your political views may be. Thats tasteless.

Pat made a decision to fight for his country, and paid the ultimate price. That should be the only issue here.

I'm far away, but I'll keep at this board to see if there is going to be places to donate, that sort of thing.

Does anyone think the Cards will reissue his uniform in some way?

Truly a very, very sad morning. Pat Tillman, a TRUE AMERICAN HERO who gave up a magnificently financial career to serve his country and fight terrorism to make this country, and the world, a better place to live.

My eyes are filled with tears this morning for this fallen hero.

GOD BLESS THE TILLMAN FAMILY AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

I was fortunate enough to meet and talk to him. He even had one of my bands CD's that he was going to play before games. This guy was one selfless man. I say MAN unlike Simeon who should be shunned for his comments about Tilly, I don't see him defending anything.

Pray for his family.

I'm stunned. I'm on vacation in California and I just got the news. I can honestly say that Pat Tillman was my favorite Cardinals player. My wife and I got a chance to talk to him while he was in Tucson at a mini-camp back in 99..a very nice and humble guy. A rare breed. I am heartbroken...
