I think Skelton is the right decision. It shouldn't of took this long it has been clear each game without question imo.

Some serious crow needs to go around here

Maybe Wiz knew the **** storm he was going to stir up here at ASFN, knowing many here would be a threat to world peace if he named Korn Kolb the starter :D

The best choice was made. Now we can move on and support the guy 100%. Commit him to the first team and don't jerk him around and I think we will see Skelton flourish.

I have a funny feeling that this won't be the message that Whiz communicates at the press conference. I think it will be something like "Skelton is the guy for now, and we are going to keep evaluating both of them going forward."

As he very well should. Skelton shouldnt have a a very big leash. But for now the rigth choice was made. Something 75% of this board dint think would be done.

Right choice?

No, it's not the right choice, it's the ONLY choice now, there's a difference.

The right choice would of been to get a better QB in here in the first place, anyone who signed off on the Kolb contract, anyone who didn't spin around in circles and froth at the mouth saying please God no, should be fired today.

Should of been last year really.

Instead we will see this staff again field a team with an elite WR and a bunch of scrubs as QB's.

That's just plain stupid.

I am never going to make the mistake of giving a crap about a QB again until they are worthy of it. I've admitted how wrong I was on Warner, still personally don't like the man as a player but as a QB for this team he was the only bright spot since Neil Lomax.

Since then we've been HORRID at getting any decent QB's other than Warner.

I don't care who we start, honestly -- but if both guys will be continually looking over their shoulder all season, it'll be 2010 all over again. I'd personally pick Kolb, but I'd take a definitive statement supporting Skelton over "well, it's Kolb for right now and then we'll see" any day.

thank God... and no, not because I actually think Skelton is the answer... or anything close to it, but I just truly believe that Kolb is hot garbage and will never be anything but.

I'm surprised as I thought he would go with Kolb. I know all the fans will pull for Skelton. I hope he does well.

Skelton should have a very long leash. He is going to have some awful games, no doubt about that, but as a young QB he needs to learn how to get through them and not have to worry about seeing Kolb warming up his happy feet every time he makes a mistake.

The Kolb experiment is over... and was DOA. See what you have in Skelton so you can move on after the year.

Yeah I do too.

I hope so because I always root for the team, and of all the QB's on the roster he's the only one I see that has the skills and tools necessary to be an elite QB.

That's a far cry from ever being one but at least it's a start.

It's a crying shame to field a team with our WR's and have him as the starting QB but we should just run more and do the best we can with it.

At this point that would be the smartest thing you could do, never mind the fact you should never have arrived at this point we are here.

Having said that, that's exactly what I'm sure WE WON'T DO and we'll go with some hot hand BS.

I think part of this is just honestly an attempt to resurrect Kolb again, I hope I'm wrong but it feels like they're just going to let Skelton fail then when the team loses hope in him trot out Kolb again.

I hope I'm wrong but if they start the week to week who starts roundup I swear they are dumber than I thought possible.

 Yeah, that's the way to manage a QB, tell him the job's his for now, but let him know that at the first mistake he'll get pulled. That way he play nice and loose! :sarcasm:

This is my thinking, except I favor Skelton. But, the same for both guy's - shouldn't start them with the idea that they won't have a second chance, should they have a bad performance. They should know that they'll have an opportunity to work through their rough spots.

I hope that the rough spot doesn't come in the first game vs. Seattle though. :billthecat:

I don't think CKW even for one second believes that QB's are human beings that make mistakes.

I think he thinks you can just plug one in and if it don't work plug another one in and that will motivate the one who lost their job to do better.

Trouble is that theory sucks and runs contrary to most established wisdom on the subject.

So under no circumstances, short of injury, do they pull Skelton?

If he is 0-21 with 7 picks then you should probably do something. But if you want to give him any chance to grow into the role then you cant have him looking over his shoulder after every screw up. Rotating QBs does not work.

Either decision is the right decision and the wrong one. (Neither QB has stepped up to the plate, but there comes a point where - if you want to get to the other side of the highway - you have to begin to cross it).

Just make the bleeping decision and move on.

He's already very conservative with the ball, he does screw up but he's much more consistent with the ball then is Kolb, he takes care of it better and in general runs a more conservative game with how he plays.

So run the ball to death and use him in some play action stuff and build his confidence, a novel approach.

Not many people mention this, but I was very impressed with Skelton's ability to take off and run (when warranted). He seemed to run at the right times and got some big first downs. Plus I'm not worried about him taking a hit.

:lmao:

I don't think so; Skelton has also done well in hurry-up mode (last season). But I actually like the idea. Have a completely different package worked up for Kolb and insert him when the offense needs a change of pace...

Just run the ball a lot, a ton, I mean a lot, use play action, Larry is perfect for play action, just get 8 in the box then heave it up to Larry.

We have Floyd for that too, both are big, both are supposed to be open even when covered, this offense is perfect for play action.

Marty ball would work like a charm with these guys, with our defense we should be able to win 10 games if they just did Marty ball.
