I have to say this doesn't give me much hope for the offense this season. Not because Skelton was chosen per say but because this feels like they went with the guy who sucks the least. Not a good position to be in.

BIM: per se ;)

I'll stand behind the decision and pull for any Cardinals player.

I still think Skelton sucks though (as does Kolb).

I'm suspecting Wiz knew what his decision would be early, he pulled JS each time he had a good series or had no blocking. JS was injured last pre-season and was lost for several games. Wiz didn't want a repeat of that.

I know one of the posters on here stated that Skelton was Whisenhunt's guy and Kolb was Graves' guy. But no one here would believe that because that would fly in the face of their preconceived notion.

Pulling Skelton against Tenn. was a tell-tale sign to me tht he was the starter. The OL was getting killed and why risk injury to the starter.

I was thinking the same Cbus. Also, I think maybe CKW wanted to see Skelton's (the starter) response under adverse OL situations like that. Since it's possible our OL could look that bad again during the season - especially if a few key injuries occured. *knock on wood*

Still I'm also shocked he picked Skelton. Didn't think coach had it in him.

Cheer!

Kolb should just go away.

Skelton/Lindley and that's it for starters this season. If JS sucks, roll with Lindley, draft a QB and start the whole shebang over again next year.

^ I'm totally cool with this too Donald. Kolb staying or going doesn't make me feel better or worse. Not hating the guy either, our QBs have just been so *meh* so far.

Yep...

I wonder what the chances are that Kolb feels the same... or, is he thinking that the chances are near certain that by week 4, he'll be the starter again??

Am I the only one who thinks that no matter who was determined the winner of this battle that the fans are still the big losers in this equation.

I have no faith in either of these guys, our O-Line, or our coaching staff's ability to bring out the best in the players.

You aren't the only one. But now that they've named a starter he has my support 100%. I've rooted for worse QB's than Skelton or Kolb during my time as a Cardinal fan. We all have.

This had to have been a much easier decision than the time it took led us all to believe. There is no way he could have started Kolb after zero of his teammates had his back after the Raider game. Plus Skelton is just plain better, not even close.

I still think it's closer than people want to admit. I give Whis a lot of credit for having the stones to do it though, regardless of Kolb's monster contract.

As fans though, we talk/post out of both sides of our mouth alot: we say Whis can't judge QB talent, and the next day we're all, "Yeah baby, he chose Skelton, in your face!!" :D

Jay Schroeder, Shawn King, Josh McCown, Jeff Blake, 98 Year Old Dave Krieg, Gary Hogeboom, Stan Gelbaugh, Cliff Stoudt, Stoney Case, Kent Graham, Dave Brown... so FREAKING UGLY! And those are just the ones off the very top of my head.

And Tom Tupa! How could i forget Tupa!

We've all supported more bad QB's as Cards fans than good ones.

I feel great about the selection. Skelton is the only one that made sense. NOW LETS BACK THE KID AND LET HIM LEAD THE WAY.

I believe Skelton is better suited to play behind a terrible offensive line, like the one we have, and to me, this would have been the determining factor.

I have been thinking along the same lines for some time and then while reading this thread suddenly thought: Was it Levi Brown's injury that finally tipped the scales in Skelton's favor?

Double Deuce just appears better able to hold up being sacked 5 times and knocked down 20 times a game.

How about we see what our qbs have and if still concerned come week 8 we look at the future.
honestly i dont see a bright future for this season..offensive line is a mess .skelton will have a ton of pressure and he still having problems with accuracy

I have 3 words for you

FEED THE BEAN-

Everything good the Cardinals can do this year starts and ends with Beanie Wells- Skeltons health and growth depends on it- Fitz's records depends on it- the defenses rest depends on it - ST field position depends on it- RWILL is good but he will not make defenses cower- He will break their heart and spirit after The Bean breaks them down.

Now everybody talks about the time a QB gets to pass- but we need to reduce the time a defense gets to react to a quicker handoff occasionally- yea the slower developing draws and plays belong but We need to put the pressure on them not Our oline in the run game.

That will open up the WR's - give Skelton a full second more time in the pocket later in the halves- that is tried that is true- that is the way you become consistant in all phases of each game- We have to eliminate the run/screen game penalties- fundementally we pass practice way more than we run practice.

44% runs is the NFL average- Don't fan out of fear of injury we have a great back ups this time! at all 3 skilled positions! Seattle specifically has a better defense- don't test their 2ndary- rule it! Running on 3rd down is much better than a 5 receiver no protection turnover- again and again-
NFL defense will not stand for it! bust em in their chops with Beanie and RWILL- Punt is a good play with our defense.
