I'm not really sure what it is you are trying to point out there. Any substance to go with your images? It's not like we haven't seen that about a quad billion times now. Are you nelson laughing at the foul?

Oberto is a pain in the butt.

Also, Pau is driving me nuts. He seems to let rebounds go right past him, and then on the next play he will do something really good. Then he will play matador defense, and then then the next play will stop Duncan.

Weird.

We've taken to calling Oberto "Vera DeMilo" and neighing when he's on screen.

Yes. I'm giving a big "HA HA" to the Spurs. I'm sorry it was so confusing for you.

Just watched the play for the first time on Youtube. It's not nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be on the radio, forums, etc.

Fact is, Barry should have jumped into Fisher for 3 free throws. But instead he decided to AVOID contact and try to dribble around him. Technically was it a foul? Yeah. But Barry did a terrible job selling it.
why would you need to sell a foul if it was a foul to being with? It either is or it isn't.

This is why he's my avatar. When a bench guy riles up opposing fans enough that they make clever plays on his name...he's doing a lot of things right.

I also really like Sasha...from the day we drafted him. He looks like my nephew too, so it's like cheering for family.
...but actually it isn't. :D

It is kind of hard discerning who you are targeting with attacks, since most of you hate both teams with a passion.

Your kind and sincere apology is warmly accepted.

okay, i hadn't watched the game, so this is the first i saw of this. up 'til now i figured it was minimal contact that everyone was shouting about, but wow - THAT didn't get called? wow. now he def wasn't shooting, but if they were in the penalty, that should have been two FTs, how can THAT go uncalled??? and i don't care about other bad/non-calls. i am only discussing THIS one as it is the only one i've seen.

It should have been two FTs and OT...well, there would have been a second on the clock.

I don't like either team but that was a clear foul but not in the act of shooting, 2FT's and see what happens.

You have a point. That is just the NBA.

This is the NBA, an elbow to the back of the head does not constitute a foul on the shooter in crunchtime with the clock winding down. Yeah Barry should have jumped into him and flopped, sold the foul. I dojt understand the NBA, they supposedly dont like flopping, and yet punish guys for NOT flopping by not calling fouls. The lakers should have won that game easily. It was only that close because they choked at the end -no killer instinct- kind of like some suns teams. Yeah Crawford should have called a foul, but he was too busy laughing at tim duncan. Bottom line is that the lakers are the better team and no one outside of SA wants to see the spurs in the finals, except perhaps the pistons or celtics.

Movies and tv shows are made up beforehand as well but we still watch them. Some of it is still entertaining even if you know what's going to happen.

Exactly, but do you watch the same movie over and over and hope it ends different this time? Of course you don't. No matter how many times you watch Return of the Jedi, Yoda still dies. When people scream that it's all fixed and rant and rave about it every year it gets pretty silly.

Don't get me wrong, I think the idea that the winners are pre-planned is ridiculous. Last year everyone said that the Spurs were Sterns favorite team, now that they are losing, the same people say the Lakers are his favorite team. Whoever wins, people like Squid just says that the NBA pre planned it, even if it's a different team. He insists that Stern hates the Suns, but continues to watch and hope they win it. It's the same logic as re-watching the same movie over and over and hoping that this one time, something different happens. The definition of insanity.

Nailed it.

In fact, many people watch the same movies and television shows over and over.

That said, I've watched only about ten minutes of the playoffs since the Suns were eliminated. I don't even remember which series it was, but the officiating was so arbitrary and inconsistent that it was really unwatchable. I saw some sort of violation every few seconds, and (except for the really flagrant ones) it was completely random which ones got called and which didn't.

For the last ten or twelve years, I've considered myself a fan of the league first and of the Suns second. Note that this even includes a period during which the Suns were fairly lousy. But I can't call myself a fan of the league anymore. The marketing is too blatant and the product is too compromised. I think that the league probably does care about establishing a level playing field, but it is nowhere near the top of their priority list. Nowhere near.

I imagine I'll keep watching next season out of curiosity for what happens with the Suns, because they figure to be something of a drama all by themselves. As a sports league, however, the NBA is pretty much dead to me. In fact, I can't understand why anyone would spend their lives, either as a fan or in the front office, affiliated with a team that's among the Have-Nots. It seems to me to be an exercise in profound futility and/or cynicism -- and very likely both.

As do I, but I don't expect them to end differently. If someone honestly believes that the league has pre-determined that the Suns will not win the championship, it makes no sense that they continue to watch and root for the Suns, that's my point. I don't watch Reservoir Dogs over and over again hoping that this time Tim Roth doesn't die.
