As least they looked like they were playing football.

The first two games were a complete shambles. They played hard this week if not particularly smart

That's a little better, a bit more fight and not rolling over after going one down is a start.

Catts is having a stinker so far this season mind you.

Agree. I've always been a fan of Catts, even in the seasons where you felt that his name was already in the ref's book, and he just had to put a tick next to it. But giving away 2 pens in 4 games, is really testing the support.

Lens, M'Villa and Toivonen look god mind. We definitely looked a lot better in the second half. Cracking free kick too.

I missed the second half but I saw the highlights last night.

Catts is absolutely killing them right now. I can't imagine a more frustrating player. He is the epitome of the team with his inconsistency it seems.

Yeah, definitely good, although after last summer, I refused to believe it until he was photographed holding up a shirt.

What's the take on Yedlin from you guys?

...although I was told Jozy was mint, so will take it with a pinch of salt:trout:

A liability in defense but enough pace to really cause problems going forward. Still VERY raw. Needs to work on crossing and possession.

Yedlin needs to play and he needs to find a position and develop in that role. right now his playing time has been exclusively as a USA national that initially started at right back perhaps his role with the sounders, but now is being used as a wing attacker. he is struggling, but needs playing time to develop. don't know if being in the EPL is helping him at all. interested to see what happens next for he and sunderland.

Agreed. I'd rather his growing pains be with Sunderland and not with the USNT. Right now he is not very good, despite all his pace.

Good point yes he needs regular playing time. What is the point of calling him to USA camps when he is not playing club football games? Kind of contradicts JKs tough stance of insisting that his players be in good form with their club team??? But he sort of screwed the pooch with this one because he practically walked Yedlin over to white hart lane. He also made excuse after excuse for jozy not scoring goals for Sunderland.

If he can't sniff the pitch at Sunderland he's got some issues going forward. Yes he's young, but at what point should he be turning a corner? he could be starting for an MLS club and that would be better for him at this point.

Numb to it now, kind of have been all season. It's weird. Still care, obviously, but just numb to the pain of it.

I suppose, on balance, we should be happy to have held on for a point on Saturday, but for me, the win was there. 2 up, cruising, looking like we could (should?!) score another couple, and we end up with a point.

Now I get the feeling that we might struggle to attract a decent manager. Who's really going to want to put a foot into the revolving door of the Sunderland Manager's office? Latest talk is Bob Bradley, which might be interesting.

Still keeping the faith, but it's being severely tested this season.

Looks like it's going to be Fat Sam, best of a bad bunch I guess.

Fabio's chance at 2-0 might just be the the point at which we look back one and think 'what if' come the end of the season

Borini had a couple of chances, both of which he could (should) have put away. Reckon it would really have settled things down if we'd been 3 up.

So, we start another chapter, BSA. And following tradition (PDC, Gus, Dick), Big Sam faces the Mags in his second game in charge. Hoping for the usual outcome ;)

I hope Borini does good for you guys, but I absolutely hated him at Liverpool. He wasn't good enough to be at a club that size.

I think Sam might be able to keep you guys up.
