Yeah, not talking about his skills.

But, his body prevents him from doing things he attempts to do. You CAN'T swoop in with the ball outstretched in you palm... and not expect to draw contact. The word is out on Zarko. Opponents will not let him do anything without giving him a couple love taps.

Plus, his confidence takes a dive when he's thrown off his game. You can see the fear in his eyes when it's low (at the line). Believe me, defenders are like sharks on blood when they see that look.

I understanf the guy is to thin and soft right now. But your post came off as suggesting he is some knid of bust. I think we all had high hopes for Zarko to contribute this season but was that realistic? He is a rookie european big man, he will take some time to develop.

I still think he would make a good high post center with White at PF on offense with them switching roles on defense. Sure Zarko can't guard PF either right now but neither can Marion and he starts there.

Bust? Who said bust?

All I said was that he better introduce himself to the squat rack and bench press.

Frankly I think some fly and lat work wouldn't hurt either. Oh hell, let's throw in biceps curls while we're at it.

Another option would be to have him practice the low post against White on the theory, "that which does not kill me will make me stronger". :D

Seriously, I think the Suns should put most of their emphasis on turning Lampe into a high post center and assume Zarko will be mostly an outside guy. Neither of them are ready to play the post, but Lampe is 45-50 pounds heavier than Zarko and is still growing.

Zark needs to get stronger no matter what position he plays, but his future is on the outside.

I just watched my tape of the game. Just as I deduced from the box score I think this lost pretty much falls on Shawn Marion. Other than initiating he had a pretty nice game, but without Amare Stoudemire the Suns simply can't afford anyone shooting 4-20 from the field. I swear he has caught the "lid over the basket" flu that JJ seems to have gotten over. He had a lot of nice looks at the basket that just would not drop.

BTW I'll just say again that although he is old as dirt and clearly not the player he once was Mutombo would be a big upgrade and center for the Phoenix Suns. It just wasn't meant to be.

If JJ keeps this play up there is no way the Phoenix Suns will be able to extend him for anything less than a contract that starts at $9 million.

I think 9M$ would be a little much but you are right Joe.

I think 7M$ in his first year would be appropriate if he keeps it up which I think he will.

6yrs/50M$ would look good to me.

I don't understand why these guys can't get bigger easier. I know it might not be in their genetic makeup as much but with a dedicated nutritionist and traning regimen they should be able to do it. It seems to me most basketball players don't eat very healthy..Do many of them have diets planned out for them? With the money they are payed I think they almost should be required to eat "clean" food most of the time...

Well part of the problem is they are constantly running. Look at Shawn Marion. He put on about 30 pounds of mucsle of the summer, but lost it within the first 2 months of the season.

When the big minute guys are running as fast as they can for 40 minutes a game, it is going to be hard to maintain that extra mass.

40 minutes is not that much...you know the huge Mr. Universe guys? Some of them run as much as an hr a day... They drink protein shakes and quality carbs afterwards to maintain muscle mass... I wonder how many of these guys are eating 5 to 6 quality meals a day?

Actually 40 minutes is nothing because they are stopping constantly..you're supposed to keep your heart up for at least a constant 30 minutes usually and people who want to be in really good shape do it longer...also studies are showing that cardiovascular exercise (to a point) actually helps grow muscle.

I'd love to have White in for the entire game for a few games, then he'd get down to 275 where he belongs. :D
