Good decision.

Although I was a JJ fan he is absolutely not worth the money he is getting paid.

Where the hell have you been? Stop leaving man.

he is worth it to someone. See this is what bothers me about the whole deal, JJ is 23, he will be entering into the prime years of his career. The Suns fans always like when we ship off players they go and become stars then we sign them to big money again after they are old.

Can't we just keep these young guys and spare me the post in 2014 how we need to aquire a player like JJ.

i think that i've gotten to the point where i'm no longer pissed about actually losing JJ, its more of what we got for JJ.

face it....if we had kept JJ we'd be screwed big time in terms of the cap. Marion would probably be shipped out....and there is no guarrantee that JJ would have lived up to his contract.

BUT as far as what we got....i'm pissed. two lotto protected picks is crazy, and i dont know how long it'll be before we actually see those picks. i think we could have EASILY had childress instead of Diaw. but we suck at negotiating and gave in once again.

the only rational in this trade is that the suns have something else up there sleaves and are looking to deal picks for players. other than that, this JJ trade makes little sense in terms of us still trying to compete for a championship. if we hadnt gotten to the WCF last season, then i wouldnt be so angry at this trade. but as it stands now, we wont be there next season, and may not make it out of the second round.

and as far as JJ goes, well he's just another NBA player. we as fans try to rationalize and think that these NBA players are in it for the love of the game. we fall in love with these guys thinking that they'll do what the fans want, and when they dont we get pissed. well, the truth is that EVERY NBA player is in it for the money. the love of the game is secondary, and maybe a bonus.....just as winning a championship is.

not many players care about winning, and here is prime example of that. JJ KNOWS he WOULD have won one with the suns. but instead wanted his own spot light on a crappy team with a crappy franchise. and as a fan, all i can say is "**** happens". we dont make the decisions, and we arent blinded by the financial aspects of the game.

I agree dude, it would have been nice for the team to fall apart after they had 1 title in the bag.

I live here in Atlanta. The Suns are getting screwed with a Diaw plus 2 future protected first round picks trade. I'd rather have Josh Smith and/or Childress plus 2 unprotected first round picks. If Atlanta is planning to just give unprotected picks, they might as well give Phoenix, Marvin Williams. If I'll have to wait for December for a Williams trade, I can wait patiently.

Somebody call BC quickly. I smell ass all over this proposed trade!

I can't believe I'll be watching JJ here in Atlanta! He's definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to business/career decisions. McDyess part 2.

Well, just read the article again at ESPN. Looks like the picks are lottery protected. This trade officially BLOWS. Now, we can all overreact. :D

I think the protection is minimal, hopefully anyways. If that can land the Suns 2 top 20 picks it'll be okay. If they can get a top 10 pick.... even better.

Unless B.C trades them away for more veterans.

The funny thing about this is, last season the Suns were regarded as the youngest team that will create noises for the future. Now they got considerably older.

Protected lottery picks...this is BS!!! Damnit, this is 93-94 all over again...WTF???

I'm assuming your talking about the Barkley deal here, so I'll say this.. At least in '93-'94, they picked up some pieces that would ultimately lead to their acquisition of Jason Kidd.. So, I'll take the good with the bad in that.

Let's hope something of similar magnititude comes from this deal.

Option D.. Get on the phone with Marko Jaric's agent and see if he'd be willing to sign for the MLE.

I have confidence in the Suns front office. They have to have a game plan before deciding to make this trade. We should wait and see. If nothing happens from now until the first game, then we should worried. It sure would be nice if Finley is wearing a Suns uniform come October.

Thanks JJ!!! You ungreatful f**k! You singlehandedly dismantled a championship caliber team. After 1 good year of basketball, you suddenly have this Kobe/TMac ego. Now, stop your prima-dona act coz you're getting your wish.
I hope you'll rot with me here in Altlanta, where the NBA season ends before the all-star break.

Probably JJax, but Bell could easily start as well. I expect those two to evenly split time there now.

thats what i was kinda thinking too. JJax seems like the logical choice off the bench because is he so versatile (SG/SF/some PG) but he showed in the playoffs that with more minutes, he can be much more effective

i have not seen much of Bell to determine whether he is better suited off the bench or starting

hopefully nash can convince finley to sign with us. i remember i read somewhere that finley wanted to go to a team where he can have a major role. with jj now gone, he will be able to see some decent time

I just read the comment about needing to get better defensively this season, and losing some offense in these moves. We definitely lost offense, but you have to also consider the additions on defense in Bell, KT and Diaw if the deal goes through. Bell is also a solid offensive player, and KT gives us a nice mid range shooter we lacked. Diaw is supposed to be very solid ball handling even though he lacks offense.

No one knows if the 1st rounders aren't going to be used for a possible trade bait for immediate help. I just want to let the dust settle a little before I start ranting about Sarver being a screw up.

we lost both of our volume three point shooters. that was basis for dantoni's offense. how is he going to compensate? i don't think we'll see jjax or bell jacking up nearly as many treys as did q and jj. the offense could be totally this coming year, and i don't think that's a good thing.

Anyone think there could be a chance those picks will eventually be spun off?

given our recent history, i'd almost bet on it. we're unlikely to ever see those players in suns uni's.

I'm stunned. Freaking stunned.

PHX management showed as much deftness this off-season as a Chinese fire drill.

What plan did they have? Was 62 games and a Western Conf. Finals berth a mirage? The most impressive "team" during the season? Home court advantage throughout? How the hell do you manage to have this much turnover?

Did they even consider the fact before trading Q that JJ could want to leave? So, we lose our two main shooting guards. That's brilliant. Just brilliant. Who the eff is paying these guys? Maybe Rex knew something.

Sarver. You can stick it up your ass. You better put some good spin on this, because you defrauded a bunch of new and re-newing season tix holders. All season long we heard B Colangelo say signing JJ was the teams's main priority. And, they used it to entice season tix holders to re-up.

Oh man. This better not be true. C'mon, Jerry. Give Robert a call and ask him what the hell he's doing.

the most ridiculous thing about this is what we got in return. we have the leverage in the negotiations for a freaking sign and trade. we could easily match if we wanted. how do we end up with some scrub PG and 2 crappy picks that we will never get b/c they are lottery protected, meaning the hawks will have to make the playoffs for us to get them..which btw will NEVER HAPPEN!

whoever is negotiating for the suns blows a fat nut, how can u not get at least 1 young promising player from the hawks? I'm sure they would have let one of them go in order to sign JJ. absolutely ridiculous!

diaw is not a pg. he's a sf. he's not even really a swingman b/c he can't shoot well enough to play the 2.

The two draft picks aren't lottery protected for eternity. Maybe people should have a more "wait and see" approach until the details are fully out on the whole situation ... yeah I know crazy idea
