It looks like the Butler trade could drag on as Minny wants too much.

It could be the Suns are content at the PG position for now and if there are issues, turn to going after a player like Beverley later on.
So far the Suns have shown they are not going to overpay for a PG. I'm quite content with this position. Other teams will have to deal with roster issues as the season rolls around. This may be when the Suns can get their best deal if so inclined.
The Miami Heat have been the latest to aggressively pursue a deal for Butler, but Minnesota's counter was a non-starter for Heat president Pat Riley, league sources said. Along with Butler, Miami had been willing to accept Gorgui Dieng and the remaining $48 million left on his contract under the right circumstances, sources said.
The Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, and Cleveland Cavaliers are among teams interested with Butler, league sources said. The Brooklyn Nets have interest, but they haven't been engaged recently with Minnesota, sources said. Washington and Dallas are among teams who've gauged the asking price on Butler too, league sources said.
They are gambling, I think. If they start the season looking OK, they can kick back, relax, and wait for PGs to become available. Should they start the season poorly, however, they box themselves into a corner even more.

That’s the choice. Gamble or panic. I choose gamble. It's a gamble of course but I'm not sure there are many PGs out there that can help them more than what they have.
I continue to think if the Suns are patient, they will be able to get a veteran PG for a reasonable price. Right now I think they are waiting for the Burler situation to play out. If they cannot get a PG this way, they will wait until teams have to start making cuts.
You take Bledsoe out of the equation after the first 3 games and our PG rotation is BETTER than last year.In addition, I'd say that the point guard rotation is also NO WORSE than last year. If the PG rotation is on par with last year, but EVERY other position is improved, the math simply doesn't work when predicting no change in final record.

You mean in preseason? Booker is slotted for the starting lineup on opening night. With our crop of PG’s and no Booker there’s no question we have the worst backcourt in the league. I’m okay if they take it super slow with him b/c I’m okay with being bad for another year. It would be best case realistically. One more high draft pick and a new GM.

Yeah, but this is Booker we're talking about. His desire is to be there opening night and I for one will never doubt this kid.Technically his injury could keep him out for the first week of the season. I believe he will be ready to go, but technically, the expected recovery time does go a week into the season.
Hey, 5% better is still 5% better!I'm glad we are not setting a high bar.
You remove the word "point guard" from all of 1Sun's posts and replace it with "Center" or "Power Forward", and you have BC. Not that hard to make the connection.I am convinced that 1Sun and BC are the same person. Nobody other than BC has ever made the "wears him down and gets him hurt" argument until 1Suns magically appeared a couple of weeks ago.

Friendly wager? What does will have to do with healing? Last thing I want is our franchise shooting guard rushing back from surgically repaired ligaments in his shooting hand.
Great point. He played those 3 games like he didn't want to be here. To say we're worse at PG this year than last year is quite inaccurate.Out of all the players that we trotted out there to fill the point, I'd say Eric was easily the worst of them. He shouldn't have been anywhere close to our worst PG but that's a different story. So, I'd say even considering Bledsoe, our PG situation should be considerably improved this season (health problems notwithstanding).
The smart move right now is to just stand PAT. Teams are gonna try to rip the Suns off because of all the reports of how we’ve desperately in need of a PG.They are gambling, I think. If they start the season looking OK, they can kick back, relax, and wait for PGs to become available. Should they start the season poorly, however, they box themselves into a corner even more.
Our worst pg last year was Bledsoe. He played horrible.I'm glad we are not setting a high bar.
