By the way, anyone else catch the video of Kobe jumping over the car?

While it was cool and all, I have to imagine the Lakers front office is pretty pissed off. If I was Jerry Buss and saw my $12mil+ Per Year super star taking such stupid risks, I would be pissed.

Kobe jumps a half second later and his career and possibly his life are over. Impressive to watch, but stupid IMO.

I didn't. It was moving?

I saw the thread about it though. It does seem stupid. NFL has clauses in their contracts to void them for this type of stupid stuff. Btw, Kobe is only making 12M? Figured it would be more than that.....

I'm going on memory about his contract.. I thought his number this year was $12 Million, but maybe I'm confused. Apparently, this clip is fake and I'm the only one in the world that didn't get the memo.

I just couldn't see Kobe doing "that." He is the most dedicated person to basketball in the NBA, followed closely by KG.

Camera tricks, bro. Camera tricks. It's a viral ad for his new Nike Hyperdunk shoes (they are like 18 ounces or something).

Edit: 13 oz..damn. He wore them for the first time in last nights game.

and that's where the conversation ends. The above crap is why I left this board for a long time. No where did I say Bynum would be "totally lost". Changing my argument to strengthen yours makes it apparent you don't want to address the point being made and to be honest, I don't want to waste my time with that kind of stupidity. I'll just say this, expecting a young kid who's never gotten major burn in the playoffs to come into the toughest western conference ever and be ready the second he steps on the court physically or mentally after being out for three and half months is asking for a lot and goes against pretty much any kind of rehab for any sport. No one comes back from serious injuries (much less knee injuries) and is ready to play really well, no matter what the sport is.

Phil plans to bring him in off the bench and get maybe 10 minutes a game with the first unit, 10 or so with the second.

Of course, if he plays this season at all, that is.

Youtube?

It was live, or a video montage? That's weird. I still want to see it though.

Odom? I think I get to use Odom correctly here. I would have said Kwame, but you know.....

Video montage. Other celebs too. And also Dr. Phil. Very...very weird. And Dr. Phil bugs me even more in this.

I think it's more odd that he's doing it in his laker uni, not in street clothes...like he's not one of the most recognizeable basketball players in the world.

Bynum's the Lakers version of Kurt Thomas for the Suns two years ago. They lost Bynum (we lost KT), things looked shaky, picked up Pau for nothing (we pick up Tim Thomas for nothing) he fits like a glove (like TT) and things look better. Meanwhile, the season winds down, Laker fans realize they've become pretty weak defensively, praying for Bynum's return (much like the Suns and KT) while Bynum's timetable constantly gets pushed back (much like KT). Laker fans hope he'll be ready for the WCF... similarities are erie.

I think this is a really interesting little analogy.

No Ariza.

Lakers forward Trevor Ariza is doubtful for the start of the playoffs after a CT scan this morning showed that a broken bone in his right foot still had not fully healed.

Ariza, however, was approved to increase his running on an anti-gravity treadmill from 70% to 80% of his body weight this week. He will increase it to 90% next week.

An official timetable for his return was not provided by the team.

Ariza has been out since Jan. 20. The Lakers end the regular season Tuesday against Sacramento and begin the playoffs either April 19 or, more likely, April 20.

Ariza is the second Laker in as many days to receive unfavorable medical news.

Center Andrew Bynum is also doubtful for the start of the playoffs after a knee specialist in New York did not clear him to begin practicing. Bynum has been out since Jan. 13 because of a left-knee injury.

I can't believe we're going into the 4th nursing a 7pt lead.. wow..

This game has been amazing. The Hornets defense in the 3rd quarter has been suffocating. I still rate Kobe as the #1 player in the league, but Chris Paul is definitely #1a. He's so good it's scary.

I hope we can hold on, we really need this game.

Wow, after the Portland game I thought we'd be down to the wire for the Pacific. I thought the Suns would win out.

Now if we win out, one loss by the Nooch and we get home court throughout and the number one seed.

Which, as things break in the seeding, could be really nice...or really bad. Still up in the air.

Congrats Lakers!!

Word is that going to the NY doctor was Bynum's advisors request, because they wanted a second opinion from the Lakers docs saying to hold him out longer...they wanted him on the court sooner.

That's interesting.

Interesting fact from the ESPN recap..

If Los Angeles and New Orleans finish with the same record, the Lakers win the West and home-court advantage at least until the NBA Finals by virtue of a better record against conference opponents. The teams split their four regular-season games.

Good to know.

It's going to be a rough road though if the Lakers continue to try and force the three. 10-36 from behind the arc? are you kidding me? Why in the world are we taking 36 three pointers in a game?

When you are up by 30, teams get REALLY loose and start playing loose for big shots. I'd rather have a 30 point lead in the late third than the 2nd.

Honestly though, most of those threes were really good looks that didn't go down. I wasn't terribly upset at most of them, but I did want them to go down low more, and also Lamar to drive and not shoot jumpers.

Yeah, if the Lakers win out, and get a bit of help, the 1 seed in in sight. Man, if Denver was round one, and somehow Utah/Houston got the 4/5 seed and we faced the winner in round two..well...man, the WCF would be niiice for us and maybe Bynum would even be back by then.

Apparently, there is no need for any Eastern Conference Playoff games according to ESPN.

If you look at the standings here, you'll notice a "z" beside the Boston Celtics. Scroll down to the bottom, and you'll find that according to ESPN, the Celtics have clenched the Eastern Conference Championship.

ESPN must think themselves psychic.

WOOOH!

Lakers win out they get the number one seed, and a good look at a WCF berth while watching teams like the Spurs and Suns and the Nooch and Dallas knock each other off.

Oh please freaking win out....
