Okay, so it came quicker than I thought it would.

It's loosely based on an old comic book storyline:

A new media-***** is on the scene in New York: Kraven the Hunter. He bags big, dangerous game all over the globe, and makes his fortune (and his fame) by documenting it and showing the hunts to the world. He’s got a lot of toys as to make him an interesting visual character on the screen.

When Kraven shows up in NY, it’s on the heels of a string of bad PR for our hero—much of it a result of bad luck, but it’s made worse by J Jonah Jameson. It gives Kraven the public support for his announcement-- he’s hunting the biggest game of all: Spider-Man.

Spider-Man doesn’t think too much of it, assuming that Kraven is closer to Steve Irwin than the “character” he portrays in his hunts. He finds out he’s wrong—Kraven sets up some elaborate traps that SM barely manages to escape.

At the same time, Doc Connors is working on genetic experiments to fuse lizard and amphibian genomes with that of a human’s so that people might one day be able to re-grow limbs just as a lizard does. He gets ahead of himself, and in an effort to grow back his own arm he uses himself as a guinea pig. Predictably, it goes poorly and he becomes the Lizard…and the new object of Kraven’s hunt.

The Lizard is a super-strong and fast creature, but mindless. He’s tearing the city apart.

Spidey knows the Lizard is actually his friend Doc Connors, so he wants to help him and thinks he can reverse the process—so he’s trying to apprehend him without hurting him. Kraven is trying to kill him, and wouldn’t mind bagging SM in the process.

So, the climactic battle is between SM, Kraven and the Lizard—each of the characters wants different outcomes making for one helluva dilemma for Spidey.

Nice. That would also set up the Chameleon revenge storyline for part 5. I just hope that they don't have Kraven die like he did in the comics.

Although his suicide worked well with the comics, in a movie it would be very anti-climatic

Hahaha now that is something i would like to see.

Can someone name all the 'bad guys' for me?? i was never into SM until the movies.
Pariah can. In his sleep. Alphabetically, chronologically, or in "evil factor" order (American standards, or UK standards). In 6 different languages.

In all honesty, there may be nothing I'd like to talk bout less. Alas, It's late, and I have a very busy week ahead in the near-term.

Here's a good link (or so it seems---not overwhelming and hits the bigs ones)...

There's nothing you'd like to talk about less? Please tell me that's not what you meant. I'll be crying myself to sleep wondering what happened to our beloved Pariah...

Scratch that. Reverse it. (can you tell me what movie this is from?)

I had a few beers in me. It's not what I meant.

It's a nice idea with the Kraven story Pariah, like you said a nice montage of stuff that's been done before, but the reason I read Spider-Man comics for a long time was for the social interactions between Parker and his social circles.
The thing I always liked about those comics was that at the end of the day Spider-Man could save the day but Parker would still lose the keys to his apartment during the battle.

how can he lose his keys if they are with his civilian clothes hidden in a bag of spidey web..?

More of a loose idea that despite being Spider-Man he's never going to stop being Peter Parker, average man.

Even in his best moments he's still going to see a setback.

Magnum would be able to find them for him!

I don't think they would have even showed Dr Conners as much as they have if they didn't intend to have the Lizard.

Or

With Gwen Stacy you could have the Jackal who is in love with her

or

Since they already introduced Jamison's astronaut son they could have his transformation. What is he, the Wolfman or something?

This would actually be a pretty good pitch, but Hollywood will always want a love angle in their big budget films. They want something they can be assured will appeal to women.

I really liked TM as Peter Parker, and he was OK at Spidey. But if they have to replace him, the guy I think who could aptly capture nerdy Peter and sarcastic Spidey is this guy:

Sam Raimi has reiterated in recent interviews that what happens in the fourth installment will be up to the writer they are hiring, including the villain(s).

Here's what he said to Comic Book Resources:

I mean, there's been so many different versions, it doesn't have to follow the movies that we've made. I'd very much like to see Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, so I have a personal interest in that, but certainly anything's possible. Spider-Man's such a big character in the comic books that he could endure a lot of different interpretations. You could start over or you could start with a different aspect of the story than I've focused on in the pictures I've made, we'll just have to wait and see what the writer comes up with.
