The defense is offensive.

The defense is 24th in yards and 29th is points. Not to mention all the big plays we give up. Dansby is a shell of himself. Badger is ok. He is not nearly as explosive as he once was. Even Buc hasn’t shown much.

Yeah the defense needs work. Dansby is old now and TM is a shell of what he once was

Golden wasn't getting sacks but he was getting pressures and he needed to be accounted for now he's gone.

The guys up front play well against the run but can't penetrate.

I just don’t like our depth. We don’t have anyone making game changing plays right now. We are a middle of the pack type D. I don’t want my safety leading the team in tackles.

Probably should've franchised CC looking back but I was on board with letting him walk at the time. This defense is very flawed at LB which makes the DL look worse than they are. Peters and Gunter have been reliable.

CC was great but for those crying about not bringing him back you just need to look at his contract

4 years 60 million with 30 million guaranteed and a 6 million dollar signing bonus.

That's freaking insane money for a DL who's 30. The Jags have to overpay to get free agents. Sucks but glad he got paid

All FA’s are overpaid, otherwise they probably wouldn’t leave. There is no way CC would have went to the Jags if the money was close. BB Over Palmer?? Lol. He took the money and I don’t blame him but we would probably have stayed for similar money.

CC did the right thing for himself. The problem is that Robert Nkemdiche was drafted to replace him.

Having Bettcher as your DC is like having some guy at halftime tying one arm behind the back of all the players to close the game out

Part of the problem is that the offense either stinks the entire game, or starts out great (Dallas, Tampa Bay) then quits at or before halftime. When the offense isn't moving the ball, eating clock, putting points on the board, etc, the defense suffers for it.

I'm kinda surprised listening to the radio this week that it's all rainbows & rosebuds over the Tampa win. AP is great, offense is now fixed, great win, blah blah blah. Nobody seems to be concerned that they took a 31-0 start and barely escaped with a win, losing the "other" game (after the lead) by a margin of 33-7. And look at the Dallas collapse - they started out dominating, then went to sleep and got thumped.

If playing 60 minutes isn't a major focus for the coaching staff and players this week, they're gonna get KILLED in London.

I can't speak for others as far as not gripping as much after almost blowing a 31 point lead.

I was just elated to be entertained for the first time this year and having a shred of hope again.

Once again, if I may... Bettcher sucks!

I don't think Bettcher sucks, but I do not think he is anything but average. Over the course of the season, there are usually adjustments between games that are pretty good. They also come up with some pretty good game plans for the opponent.

But during the game, I think he is inadequate with in-game adjustments. I hope this can be improved upon, but if not, he will still likely improve throughout the year because he listens to the other coaches and adjusts. He may not be the best, but we have seen far worse (Billy Davis).

That IS the game nowadays. If you can adjust, you can win, if you can't adjust, you lose (no matter what your lead is). That is reality these days, Bettcher sucks as much as the original poster said because he has no idea what to adjust to or why he should.

To me, the thing that's different this year is the Cards are horrible on 3rd down defense. I don't know where they rank but it seems teams convert an awfully high % of 3rd downs against them this year. It drives me crazy when watching too.

Also, they're not finishing when they get to the QB. They'll get close but don't get him on the ground.

Dansby is also in his 14th year so his drop off is excusable.

I actually think Bettcher is Bill Davis 2.0.

I watched the first drive VS Tampa Bay over and over, kinda the way I looped our SB appearance and restarted it right after the Fitz TD.

  • 25th in 3rd down conversion %
  • 27th in red zone scoring % (TD only)
  • 28th in red zone TDs given up
  • 28th in points allowed
  • 22nd in yds allowed
  • 20th in red zone scoring attempts per game
  • 22nd in takeaways

Bettcher has the best cover corner in football, and a legit pass rusher IMO, and that's the best he can scheme from this unit.
