Let's face it . No matter who the cardinals would have hired there would be a large amount of disenchantment on this board.

So I would like to keep this thread positive and upbeat about this hiring.

First l like the what he said about simplifying the offense. Painting a clear picture for the Qb and WR's.

I like that he will call the plays..."Been doing it for years. It's not that hard."

I like his experience.

I like whatever influence he had on Luck. We all know Luck would have NEVER had the year he had if he had been a Cardinal.

I like that he was part of a team that went from 1-15 to the playoffs.

I like the fact that he is not afraid of the challenge and is willing to leave a pretty cozy gig in Indy to come here.

Is it the right choice? We'll see. I'm willing to give him as much a chance based on his resume as anybody else we talked to or wanted to talk to.

Maybe our bigger concern is just how far this front office will go to get him the players he will need to succeed.

I'm gonna go start the "I'm happy with Asians" thread. :p

I wonder if the first person on the staff to recommend 'Arians Nation' for a section of seating will get fired?

I am ok with it. He is not just a Steeler's coach, he has done well in many systems and I think the key is he simplistic approach to play calling for the O to pick it up quickly.

Just wait until raider nation comes to town. Then you'll have Raider nation versus Another nation.

Watch out for the shanks.

I'm OK with the hire.

If horton leaves this season, I'll be less than Ok, but that's Ok. If he leaves after next season, a little less down than that.

If Horton stays then during this season I'm ok to more than ok with it contingent on various things not announced or known yet. If Horton stays beyond this season, I'll be happy. Contingent of course on some weird thing between now and this time next year changing my opinion.

We definitely could of picked someone worse, though pretty much all the candidates had their perceived advantages.

Of course winning cures all of this, so there's that.

As much as I wanted Horton to be the Coach, I still like Arians as well. I'm disappointed with Horton not being given an opportunity.

This is the coach I wanted, after Reid. I'm extremely happy. His experience, along with a fresh start for this team, is what we needed. This team finally has a chance to draft a QB, develop him, and start with a fresh foundation. A new GM and a new coach gives us a chance to turn into something we haven't been before.

If Horton's leaving, I'm disappointed, but I don't think he was the right choice for HC. And I'm not sure he'd have stayed without it. So, this is where we stand, unfortunately.

Bring on the Arians era.

By no means is one happy to see Horton go but it was unrealistic to think a new coach should be expected not to choose his own staff. I'm very happy with the Arians hire.

I am moderately happy. If we lose Horton, then I'll feel like it is a wash.

Can't deny the job Bruce did with the Colts last year though. He also has tons of experience. There is a lot to like and he seems like a good guy.

But... just win baby.

I think a big piece to this is if Horton was hired, we still loss our DC. He was quoted as saying he would hire a DC and then let them run it since he believes in delegation. We are in the same situation either way.

Damn it, beat me to the Arians Nation joke. :bang:

I liked a lot of what he had to say during his presser. I hope his "it's easy/plenty of time in the day" is based in reality and not a fat dumb and happy situation.

If Horton stays then I'm far more excited, If Horton goes then I will be very bearish on this hire.

Thing that keeps haunting me is while what Arians accomplished as the acting HC this year how much of the success was based on the Chuck Power motivation. Arians said he leaned heavily on the veteran leadership and it's very easy to motivate a team when their have such an easy cause as win one for our cancer ridden HC.

I do like that wherever he has gone they have made the playoffs no later than the 2nd year.

Cards new HC might be a little corny and doofy but I think/hope it resonates with the players.

I was surprised to hear that 11 players on the roster had never even met Pagano by the end of the year. Wow, that's a lot of roster turnover (nearly 20%) in season.

The real reason to be bearish on Arians is that the Colts had the easiest schedule in the NFL by far and won just two games by a TD or more. The Colts lost to the New York Jets by 22 points. The 2012 Indianapolis Colts were 9-1 in games decided by 7 points or less. Seriously: next year, bet the Colts under on wins.

The real reason to be bearish on Arians is that the last five years his offenses have finished 20th, 12th, 12th, 21st and 18th in scoring. There's a reason that this gut lasted so long on the open market.

I think he'll be a really, really interesting replacement for Whis, and I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt concerning the s-storm that he's walking in to. I think he'll get along great with his front office and ownership.

We'll see. I'm excited to see some signs of life from the offense. I'm certain he thinks that he can get something out of Kolb; I wonder if he thinks he can get something out of Skelton.

I saw it the same. The only value Horton was going to offer now would have been as a head coach and not as a DC
