For the love of God... Keep Fitz and DeadMan21 out of this!!!!!

LOL.

If you had asked me in January, I would've said that there was no way in hell the Suns would have a better chance at signing Aldridge than the Cards would have getting Peterson.

I suppose he goes to the Spurs, but it would be the huge shot in the arm for the Suns franchise if he lands here.

I would say that the Spurs certainly have the advantage.

Marc Stein, ESPN Senior Writer

LaMarcus Aldridge currently has no plans to make out-of-town visits and, at this stage, plans to take "a couple of days" to digest all the pitches he has received after meeting with multiple teams, sources told ESPN.com on Friday.

Sources said the pitch Aldridge received Friday in Los Angeles ‎from coach Gregg Popovich -- about playing with Tim Duncan in his final days in the NBA and then taking over for him as the Spurs' frontcourt linchpin alongside Kawhi Leonard -- resonated strongly with Aldridge.

It was the Spurs' second meeting with Aldridge. Popovich, Duncan, Leonard and Tony Parker all pitched Aldridge directly Wednesday morning, sources said.

Additionally from Paul Coro:

The Suns are indeed doing the banner but Aldridge has no scheduled Saturday visit with Phoenix after giving the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs second visits.

To me the Spurs are saying, Aldridge will be playing some center.

Aldridge did not "schedule" 2nd visits with anyone. The Lakers begged for another meeting and apparently so did the Spurs.

I know that Leonard is young and amazing, and they have good role players on the bench. And Pop knows how to rest guys like no other coach. But Parker is 33. Ginobli is 37 and may not be back. Duncan will turn 40 in April. Diaw is 33. Splitter is gone, Belleneli is gone. The "centers" that would keep LA from playing that position are Bonner, Baynes, and Diaw. What?

As good as they are, the Spurs seem to be slipping a bit. LA would refortify them big time, but not sure for how long.

They can build a good team around Aldridge, Leonard and SG Danny Green.

We're not going to get a decision until Sunday evening at the earliest with Monday being the most probable. This is PR 101. For maximum media coverage you release information at the beginning of the news cycle which is Monday. If you want to minimize media attention you release the info Friday afternoon and a holiday weekend is even better. These past couple days has netted LMA the most media attention and fanfare that he has ever received. And maximizing the exposure will pay off down the road with future endorsements and other things like all star voting.

So sit back and enjoy the weekend. Don't waste Independence Day refreshing your twitter feed.

This feels eerily the same as the Lebron debacle of last season. While were playing the waiting game other FA dominos fall by the wayside. Leave it to the spurs and Popazit to string out the Suns after a earlier personal commitment from LA.

It is far from a given though.

Especially with Pop likely gone from coaching.

Green is a role player imo.

Losing Belinelli, Splitter, Baynes, Ginobili is not insignificant.

Parker is done, Diaw I think is done, Duncan can't play a full schedule anymore and even than only at limited minutes.

Well it's over now. Think we can still have a very good season next year if we get injury luck and add depth to our backcourt.

not surprised... happy to see we made a big push. Question now is what do we do with the remaining cap room to try and bolster the squad. David West doesn't impress me. That's basically like putting back together the 2008 Hornets front-line... which never won anything and is now older then dirt.

so, what's up your sleeve now McD? Keep powder dry for next year's FA?

Isn't this where we start talking about how LMA is overrated anyways? :)

I'm honestly pleasantly surprised we were being considered seriously. I know all the arguments for, against going with San Antonio, but the bottom line is they are just a class organization with a winning formula. Anybody really doubt at this point that they'll be able to find guys that fit their system to come in and at least keep them competitive after TD and Manu retire?

At least New York took D. Williams off the market. Amare would give us some efficient scoring. The problem is he'll do the same thing for the other team. Perhaps if we have enough strong defenders around him that would work. Not sure how I feel about that.

Okay, back to work. I'm disappointed, but at least if it isn't helping the Phoenix Suns it's helping a team that was already going to make the playoffs for sure.

It's definitely a stepping stone that the franchise was even considered. The next step is not being a bridesmaid and and actually landing someone of LMA caliber or better when competing with a bunch of other teams. Either way it's still a hopeful sign for fans.

For now, you have to believe the team has a plan B in mind. Although, it appears we did miss out on some opportunities while playing the LMA sweepstakes. You would think whatever they do they have to move quickly if there is someone else out there they want.

Another year of letting the young guys grow, this time with some legit leadership. Splitting up the twins is still a win this season.
