Do you think it looks like he's comfortable doing aikido? Looks pretty awkward to me.

That is pretty much par for the course when watching martial arts on TV and film. It's very rare to see great fighting technique from actors and when you do half of the time it's actually doubles with the exception of guys like Jet Li or Jacki Chan. If you want to see some actors with great technique watch Into the Badlands. Aside from the occasional cheese many of the actors in that show have surprisingly good technique.

For you or Cheesebeef it would be like someone doing a movie about writing or editing and you probably laughing about how ridiculously bad they portray how those jobs actually work. Just got to suspend belief on these shows.

Jesus looked good doing his martial arts. Having zombies running around, sure, suspend all your belief. But it just looks like Lennie James wasn't trained well. Compared to Jesus, that is.

I have trained with some folks for years that never looked smooth no matter how long they trained. Could they defend themselves? Sure but they were never going to look like Jet Li doing it. You are probably right though and he had little training or it's just simply not his thing.

I agree, and I don't really have a problem with it not being his thing, I just wish it looked more believable. Not only does he not know it, he has to also "pull" his punches because he's acting, and that's not easy on top of it.

Many years ago me and a bunch of the guys used to get together to watch really bad martial arts movies. Black Belt Jones and Gymkata received multiple views. The funny thing is I know some of the martial artists that worked on Gymkata (my older brother was one of them). Some really great martial arts guys involved....crappy outcome. The way my brother tells it, Kurt Thomas was a champion gymnast but you could have spent years training him and wouldn't have helped.

It was relatively uneventful.

ha! I actually liked this episode.

Although good lord... they can not write a redheaded dude storyline to save their life, IMO. I THINK they tried to do something subtle with him I guess choosing Sasha over the chick he's been banging and being at peace with that (especially with the necklace left behind) but who freaking knows if that's what was really going on there.

oh... and Glen can't die soon enough. Especially after Maggie's line "There's going to be sacrifices." I swear, they're just trolling the audience at this point.

I agree about the readheaded dude. They have been trying hard to make him interesting but fail at each turn.

I didn't feel that way, I felt it kicked in to high gear as to what is coming next

Abraham is a bad ass when the poo hits the fan, it seems the only time they can fit him in is love interest and fighting. The girl he has been hanging out with doesn't do much for me, they've struggled making her likeable IMO

Carol has been missing for weeks now, wonder what she is up to

Finding out there are groups and trade seemed to be an eye opener but now I think it simply lands to getting Jesus and a springboard into the pending fight. At this point it seems it's going to be an all out war, we'll see, people will be lost win or lose though.

At this point I trust Jesus, didn't feel that way last week.

Rick's defense move was awesome. "What?"

yeah... how they just completely have ignored the Carol/Batman Begins guy conflict has been pretty weird.

I really liked the episode but that line was about as obvious as it gets in terns of foreshadowing. It's almost like they didn't try. At the very least give the line to someone....anyone other than Maggie so it's not so blatantly obvious.

At any rate, still liked the episode. I loved when Rick turned all bloody and said "what?!?!". LOL.

I wish they would give Abraham something better to do and as far as Carol...I have just found her to get more annoying over time. I don't really care if Carol lives or dies at this point.

I agree on the sacrifices comment but still wonder if they will kill someone else instead just because we are all expecting Glenn to die.

I agree, good episode and that scene was by far the best one. Rick: Master of horrible first impressions.

Abraham IMO should be rolling out with rick and Daryl on missions and etc. He is a warrior and doesn't get to play warrior ever.

Personally I am still a big carol fan after the W episode. Shes a bad ass, glad she is coming back into the picture next week.

I wonder when the black guy with dreads will ever play a larger role than stabbing a few zombies here and there? They made a big deal about his appearance in a photo before he was on the show and how he is in the comic but he has played an incredibly small role in everything so far.

I see most people disappointed in how the show has handled Abraham and that goes back to something I said after the midseason premiere about how I wish they'd kill Daryl. Him being Rick's right hand man has kept strong male characters like Abraham and Tyreese from becoming as popular as they are in the comics. Daryl being around keeps any male from ascending to Rick's 2nd in command. While I'm not completely sold on the casting of Jesus in the show, I love the character in the comics. I fear for him once the ball gets rolling with the Negan/Saviors war because he's another character who will likely take a backseat to Daryl. It wouldn't surprise me if everyone is talking about Jesus like they are Abraham now when next season rolls around.

I think they could make Abraham more interesting without sacrificing Daryl. They just need him involved in the A story a bit more. It's not that he doesn't see action, but he seems to be back at the ranch or out on a ride-along when a lot of the major plot points are happening. Also, his character development happens in isolation a lot. His struggles are interior and don't usually involve interaction with other characters except through the occasional awkward flirtation or banter.

As far as killing Glenn goes, in a way I hope they don't at this point, since they've teased it so much. If it happens the way it does in the comics, then the teases feel cheap. If it happens in a different way than the comics, they may feel even cheaper. I guess they're already pretty cheap regardless. It might be even more interesting if they give him a completely different character arc. It's hard to imagine him as an antagonist, so I hope they wouldn't overplay it in that direction, but him taking a conflicting position within the group--one that's more than just arguing the moral direction--would be interesting.
