From Sando:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/26591/wrap-up-bucs-38-cardinals-35

What I didn't like: Arizona needs to become a ball-control, play-it-safe team in the post-Kurt Warner era. Instead, the Cardinals have stuck with their four-receiver mentality more than expected. They've suffered repeated interceptions. They entered Week 7 ranked last in time of possession. It's looking more and more like the Cardinals failed to have an adequate fallback plan once Warner retired. They might need to change their mindset, too.

Ok, agreed. But now what do you do when your RB's suck too?

Beanie falls down at the drop of a hat and the one running back that actually looks like he runs hard, fumbles too much.

I am not sure these RB's arent worse then our QB's....At least they havent proven anything either.

Did you know that going into today's game the Cards were averaging more yards per carry rushing than yards per attempt passing? I checked several other teams and couldn't find any that had that situation.

Meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out how this inept team scored 35 points today. That was the biggest surprise for me.

Well, Luck isn't going to be there when we pick. Better pray that a Jr like Foles comes out... otherwise, make it 2 seasons of Whiz trying dumb crap plays with DA

Today was all bad play call that destroyed our chances. Not taking the points on the FG, and then again, passing while in FG range instead of running it and the clock.
I agree with this completely. He threw away 3 at the 1/2, giving them three, and then knowing at the worse we could tie the game, instead of keeping it on the ground, he throws into triple coverage. Triple coverage!

I don't know why everyone is so upset? We just lost by only 3 points to the best team in the NFC.

When you know your QB's are medicore, you should feel lucky to get to end zone. so why blow it then ?

we were down 24-14 when the 4th & goal. It's 2 position game whether you get a FG or TD? wasn't that desperate situation for a TD though.

2:16 I think, 1st &10 on the 18 I think. For me, he never learned the lesson from the super bowl when we had the lead at 2;31 and we lost.
So on the 1st down, we score, great! so you hand them the ball back with more than 2 mins witha chance to win? this what I couldn't understand.
Run the ball, if we score, fine. If not, eat the clock or let TB use their TO.

I was listening on the radio, and all thetalk about QB's. I am sorry but I can't blame teh QB's this game. They made some good drives, up to their known abilities, specially DA connecting with SB multiple of times.

You also have to think Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt is overthinking the quarterback position. Undrafted rookie Max Hall is playing like an undrafted rookie. He's not a factor. Whisenhunt may not trust Derek Anderson, but Anderson gave the Cardinals a spark their loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With Matt Leinart gone, the Cardinals have only one option -- Anderson. Whisenhunt and the Cardinals have to live with that fact.

That was a quote from John Clayton....If we and everyone else can see it..why can't stupid Whiz. He is slowly slitting his own wrists.....Whiz will be fired in 2 years... and right now that is 2 years to late.

You are wrong it was 21-14..so no desperation at all...especially since we had 33 minutes left in the game!!! :mulli:

For me now, Whiz doesn't trust either DA or Hall. He's back to his 1st year when he used to change between ML & Warner during the game. I was listening to 620 yesterday and they made a good point. Whiz never praised Hall on his plays. It's just that intangible thing

ok sorry about the score, I may have overlooked it
and yes we still had 33 mins, so 21-17 wasn't that bad

You blame the QB situation. Because neither one of those guys are any good.

It's like 2005 when Marcel Shipp and JJ Arrington combined for 1100 yards and 2 Tds and the Cards finished dead last in every rushing category.

It wasn't their fault they didn't have the talent to be starting NFL running backs.

Somers' thoughts:

http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/KentSomers/105154

*Whisenhunt might have to take as much of the game out of the QB's hands as he can. That means kicking a field goal instead of going for it on fourth-and-2 from the 3. Or running the ball and settling for a field goal, instead of throwing it on first down at the opponent's 20. With Kurt Warner at QB, those risks were worth taking. With Anderson or Hall, not so much.

It's frightening that Whis seems to be the only one who doesn't see this.

I knew we were in trouble when after the first play, a 14 yd run by Beanie, Whiz pulls him out and makes a substitution.

We are playcalling like Warner is still the QB.

Anderson can't throw a seam route to save his life.

Whiz has painted this team into a corner.

We are now a team divided including the fans.

I never thought I would say something like this, but I would rather have Rex Grossman than any QB currently on this team.

We will get blown out next week.

That is all.

Only because we love to make backups look like all-pros. So if Farve starts we have a chance. Jackson, we're done.

Looking at the box score...Scofield had as many tackles as DRC and Robinson. Hayes was respectable with 5

I don't see Scofield credited with a tackle.

Did notice that Will Davis had 5 tackles and a sack.

This loss is obviously and squarley on Whis' wimpy shoulders. Should have taken the 3 pts on 4th and goal from the 3 in the 2nd qtr. No way in hell do you call a pass on 1st down at the 20 with the game in the balance. At the very least call a frigging timeout with the playclock winding down at that junction in the game. Instead we watch a pinball bounce off an o-lineman's head.

Above all else the horrid QB play we have had to endure was particularly highlighted in this game. If we have a serviceable (not great, not even good, but a decent, serviceable) qb we win this game and to take it a step further we take the division this year. IMO we had one on the roster but I guess Whis supossedly knows better and we are where we are. How awesome and impressive was Freeman out there today? That dude is a flat out stud. And we're running Max freaking Hall out there as our starter. Give me a damn break.

If by FedEx you mean a 4 WR look than you are correct. Actually it was another run play (Dash). http://espn.go.com/nfl/playbyplay?gameId=301031022

So was this Whiz getting to cute? We have a thread about Whiz not being creative enough and then countless posts that we should just run the ball and countless posts that Max Hall sucks and some posts saying he played well and numerous posts that Beanie sucks but others saying it's the Oline and....

I agree with Duckjake, we lost a close one to the best team in the NFC. ;)

I will say that at times I was shaking my head with how many pass plays were called, especially early in the game. The thing is that I know I don't know what looks the D was giving us and if those play calls were correct or not. What I do know is that Whiz does have a resume that includes calling more good games then bad ones, by a large margin.

I hacve raely criticzied Whiz and he is a very good coach but he has to adjust to no QB. Look at the first drive, Beanie gets the opening carry and goes for about 15. Then a mini-reverse to LSH, pass, pass, pass. Take the ball, set the tone, and run it down their throats. Isn't that why Faneca was brought in?
Also, when are announcers going to get a clue. Every game they say Whiz came from Pittsburgh and wants to run the ball. Have they watched the Cards offense ever. Whiz throws it about more than anybody in the league and has over his HC career, at least when it come to pass/run mix.
