Let me start by saying I don't have any problem with Kurt the person (did you see that little blurb about his family ananomously buying dinner for other families in today's MMQB?). He is an outstanding human being. A role model, and for a while he was absolutley the best QB in the league. And, after the MIA game, I was actually getting quite comfortable with him as the starter, and really starting to forget about the QB controversy in camp.

But I was also worried about him regressing once he was established as the unquestioned starter, and the jets game was a disaster. It was my worst nightmare in terms of Kurt turning it over (The defense was also horrible, but at least they were missing key players).

To me, Sunday's game against a good Bills defense will be Warner's last chance to prove that he deserves to start.

Quantify in any way you want. QB rating, turnovers, TD passes, win or lose, whatever.

If he plays great or even good, fine. Bring on the Warner vs. Romo show.

But man, if doesn't help the team win, or at least not cause it to lose, then I will offically be calling for Leinart, forever.

No more teasing us Kurt!

Warner was pedestrian at best against the Redskins (16-30. 6 yards an attempt). The last two teams have been scheming his lack of mobility. Rushing as little as 2 because there is zero threat he will scramble the 8 yards to the first down. It will be interesting to see if this trend continues.

Right now you can go max coverage on third down and there is a fair chance that Warner will make an error.

I want to see the Kurt Warner that turned up for weeks 1 and 2. The guy who protected the football. I hope the other guy stayed in NY.

If it's not there, throw the ball away, Kurt. Take the sack if you have to. This team cannot survive another display like what we saw against the Jets.

When was the last time you saw Kurt throw the ball away? He never runs outside the tackles and throws it out of bounds, and he never throws it out of the endzone. He either trys some ridiculous pass that ends up as grounding, or he tries to force something dumb into coverage, or holds the ball too long and takes the sack (and which turned into fumbles against the Jets, at an uncommon clip).

He can't scramble enough to throw it away out of bounds, and he just won't throw it out of the endzone.

Leinart had one bad half and lost his starting job. I would say it is only fair to start at least questioning the position.

Furthermore, the Kurt Warner we saw Sunday was the Kurt Warner that has showed up more time then not in the last 7 years.

This "Kurt's a sure thing" has bothered me since it was labeled on him this offseason.

Kurt Warner is who we thought he was. A guy with pro-bowl/MVP potential who has turnover problems.

I still have no problem starting him, but he is going have game like he did against the Jets.

Ding Ding Ding!

How funny that we want to burn Leinart at the stake and call him a bust from one half of a PRESEASON game but when its Warner - and he has the worst half I have ever seen from a QB - its just one half and we should let him work through it.

What BS.

I agree with everything you said except for the bolded part. I don't think any coach would make an important decision based on 1 half of a preseason game especially one as inportant as who is your starting QB.

I would hope that decision came from all the games, practices, and training camp.

I disagree that this is Warner's last stand.

This Sunday should be Clancy's last stand. We would have been blown out on Sunday no matter how the offense played.

The problem right now is not completely with Warner. It's with our defense not able to stop an offense.

I read that Kurt has never had more than one game in a season where he had 4 or more turnovers. Hopefully, he got it all out of his system against NY.

There just has to be more to it for the coaches not to like what they see in Matt other than the Oakland preseason game.

I don't think there is any conspiracy. Matt just must have not performed well enough on things we didn't see. I just can't believe he wouldn't have started over Warner had he shown the coaches he was ready to start. Obviously, they don't trust him and won't start him unless they have to, at least not yet.

GOD! STOP IT!

This isnt warners last stand....if you think that then you're a moron.

Matt Leinart is slow....has a softer arm.....and does not grasp the scheme as well as warner. He's also just as injury prone

That is pure fact....no speculation! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get a grip!!!!! If you want to ride something......ride the DC and the defense.

When and why do all of the people taking stands for Warner become allowed to start insulting people because they dont have the same opinion as them?

One guy throwing F bombs, Campos calling everyone idiots and Cards fans the worst in the league, now this guy calling people Morons. That isnt a very Warner like attitude now is it.

This is silly. You are trying to say Matt Leinart is slow compared to Kurt Warner? You preceded that with calling people morons?

Comical.

Please now dont take the sack. He will most likely fumble it.

Kurts problem is that he holds on the the ball to long. He needs to have in his head that after 3 seconds after his drop back he needs to start his way out of the pocket, he was actually doing just that towards the end of last year. He has the enough mobility to step out of the pocket but no QB will have that ability if you wait 4-5 seconds with guys on your back. Also like the announcers of the game both for the Fox group and the Cards Radio crew all mentioned he needs to stop holding onto the ball with one hand and holding it next to his hip instead of near his chest or shoulder. He trained on that all offseason, and even did it for the most part during the first 3 games. But for some reason he reverted back to holding onto the ball with one hand next to his hip. Not sure why this game he decided to unlearn everything the coaches taught him this offseason.

I just hope that the Jets didnt show the rest of the league how to rattle Warner and revert him back to his old self again.

Apparently you didn't understand the warning that Kody just got. You will have a week to think about it.

Slow? Kurt Warner doesn't MOVE. Compared to Kurt, Matt looks like freaking Devon Hester.

Oh, and

Warner sucked last game, I don't care how many yards he threw for after the game was out of hand.

Stilll, he was better than Matt.

I expect Kurt to do very well at home (in the dome); a win over the Bills is what I expect.

Should quite the arm-chair qb's for a while.

Well if we finish 8-8 or worse it obvious we should let Matt play a few years like most teams do to see what they have.

Until then Warner gives us the best chance to win now and I would liek a playoff run :)

Looking at the schedule now we will be lucky to be 6-10. Whiz will get another pass. But Matts first year could be ugly to. Then a coaching change and start all over.

Ah yes...the Cardinal formula for unsuccess.

Leinart had one bad half in a preseason game and he was labeled a bust. Whiz's dumbed down offense makes both QBs look bad. Leinart is younger, doesn't turn the ball over, and has way more upside. Everyone asssumes that Whiz knows what he's doing, but I wouldn't be so sure. He has completely mismanaged the QB situation. When Leinart took over for Warner 2 years ago, no one had an issue with it. There was no controversy coming into last year until Whiz started pulling the QB carousel crap when he was saying how Leinart couldn't run the hurry up which was a joke because we have all seen him run it fine. This is more about Whiz being wishy washy then anything else.
