He's also a very willing passer as evidenced by the fact that he typically leads this team in assists.
Well, this season, he assists 6 times in his 33 minutes per game. That's once assist in every 5 1/2 minutes on the court.

Leading the Suns in stats in any category is hardly the same as being a league leader. Bledsoe (and IT) are flashy, but not a foundation to build upon, especially at the Point Guard positon.

Isn't that typical of any player who puts on a show on offense (and defense) when he is motivated, but not steadily? 'Can't use youth as an excuse any more. It is what Eric is.

Ranks right up there with "still beating your wife". It's typical of players that win games. You want tall, I want a bigger score than the opponents. I could care less about the trappings. Bledsoe plays better defense than anyone else on our team. Just because he doesn't shut his opponent down doesn't mean he's not playing hard or being effective. How many points per game does the best defensive team in the league give up? Indiana leads the league by holding their opponents to 96.1 points per game in case you're interested.

And why can't we use "youth/experience" as an explanation? He's only about 80 games into his career as a starter. Goran had logged 10,000 minutes before last season and yet he elevated his game to 3rd team All NBA and prior to last year he'd never been more than mediocre. By your way of thinking, his growth should have been impossible.

Bingo. The idea that Bledsoe is what he is completely ignores EXACTLY what Dragic has become.

I think we have several players with star potential. Now it just remains to be seen if any of them reach that potential.

Steve

Several?!!? Out of curiosity who are all these players?

Dragic, Bledsoe, Len and Warren. Potential. Goran played like a star last year. Warren is pure conjecture but Bledsoe and Len have shown flashes.

Wow. All potential stars? Best players on your team doesn't equate to stars. I hope your right but I think your assessment is beyond generous.

Well, he did say "stars" and not "superstars."

Good point. I was thinking more franchise players and realize I was thinking more along those lines. I don't see any franchise players on this team IMO. The closest we have is Bledsoe. I could at least see an argument for that but he is probably just outside the top 10 at his position IMO.

Yeah, I don't think anyone on the Suns roster is going to lead them to a championship, but I can see Dragic and eventually Len being good second and third best players on a championship team.

Totally agree, the Bledsoe hate specifically is somewhere beyond ridiculous - he's our best player, and clearly better than Goran.

I'd love to see who/how Stephan would propose getting a "real" pf and sg.

Clearly better, eh?

You still don't understand the game.

The gap between the two is HUGE.

Dragic is a top 15 player. In the NBA. Probably top 10, maybe top 5 if McDonough would get his head out of his ass. (BTW, I'm almost always right on these predictions.)

Bledsoe is average. For his position.

Wake up!

Dragic and Len are the future.

And it's right now.

This Bledsoe love is foolishness.

Dragic is the only player on this team that is a star.

Len is the only other hope.

We need to offer Green (or Marcus) & Plumlee for Koufos. If they don't wanna trade Koufos, then keep Plumlee and ask for a future 1st rd pick instead.

Is anyone besides me getting the idea that SStef isn't very fond of Bledsoe?

Yeah and that's where we really disagree. I don't consider Bledsoe undersized or a ball hog. He's short but other than one game against the Nets last year I've yet to see him be "undersized". Size is more than height. He's long and strong and rarely gets outmatched because of his size. [/B] He's also a very willing passer as evidenced by the fact that he typically leads this team in assists. He misses some opportunities and he sometimes struggles with when to shoot versus when to pass but that's inexperience not ego as you imply.

Steve

Did you skip the Pelicans game last week or the week before when Tyreke Evans killed Bledsoe? Bledsoe had to resort to biting to try and slow him down.

An interesting guy has just been put on the 'wire' by Minnesota. He's almost certainly going to clear waivers because he's never stuck on a team for more than a year and he's 28 years old. He's a tweener F at 6'7 and 245 lbs but the only PF who rebounds at a higher rate per 36 is Reggie Evans and its close. He's a solid defender and blocks a fair number of shots. Jeff Adrien is his name. (He didn't play against us this evening because he was waived earlier in the day.)

Obviously he isn't going to make worlds of difference but it would be great to have a big, other than Len, who could hold his own in the paint. He also has the highest offensive efficiency rating on the Wolves so he doesn't hurt the team on the offensive end - ooops he 'had' the highest offensive eff. rating since he's now departed.

Why would we want him if Minnesota doesn't? We're hurting for muscle in the paint much more than they are and their roster is overflowing with young guys they are developing - Wiggins, Dieng, Bennett, Lavine, 'Bazz, and Glen Robinson. Meanwhile we are seriously hunting for a playoff spot. If we were in the same development mode as them I probably wouldn't suggest getting him - I might anyway just because I love to have a real dirt worker on the team. Saunders was rather complimentary of him as he cut him loose - saying they'd bring him back on 10 day contracts if they needed him.

He's 28 like I said but he has low mileage on him - about 2000 total minutes in his fifth year so if he worked out really well, he could play for several years - he doesn't have a lot of athleticism to lose...

I doubt the Suns will give him a passing thought since he'd, at best be a small cog. My philosophy is that if you want a strong defensive and good rebounding team then you fill out your bench with guys that fit that bill - it's relatively easy since they are not widely sought after. Then when you sub, the guys will still be solid on one end of the floor. The most important end, IMO.

I like Jeff Adrien too. I don't know if he'd get much playing time but it seems to me his presence would help in practice if not in games. He's short but he's got a great wingspan.

Green isn't gonna stay here past this year anyway, Warren will take his spot.

Trading Green for the marginal upgrade that Koufos offers over Plumlee would be a step back in the fight for the PO.

Besides, Koufos wouldn't be gonna stay here past this year whereas Plumlee would/is.

My bad, didn't realize Koufos is on an expiring contract.

I'm back on the "Bring Greg Monroe to Phoenix" bandwagon. He put up 27 pts, 18 rebounds and 6 assists vs the Mavs today. His team's won like 6 in a row and he's been playing real well.

If him and Drummond can co-exist, then I think its pretty obvious that him and Len can co-exist.

Len has more range than Drummond. Len actually has a good shot from that 15-18 ft jumper area.

Monroe's just as bad defensively as Kieff but Monroe's a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY better rebounder and more consistent than Kieff.

I'd give him the max or close to it especially since it would be the rookie max contract not the big one. Big men like don't grow on trees.

Len + Monroe = no more rebounding problems for the Suns.

If he were here, would he be neutralized by the obsession the Suns maintain for surrounding one "big" with small/light players.

When you really think about it, would Jeff change course and have two big men on the court together? I don't think "yes" is a given.
