Nash for Horford? In a hearbeat. Then we'd need to find a way to get a ball-dominating 2 to lead this team (a la Kobe, Jordan - obviously not to that magnitude, but it would be nice).

Fill-in PG- Ball-dominating SG - D-minded 3 - Horford - Gortat

I'm all over rebuilding around Horford/Gortat....

Nash for Horford would be like getting TWO high lotto picks for Nash since the Suns would probably lose every remaining game.

Here's another nugget from that same site.

Quote:
In a three-team point guard swap, Boston would ramp up for one last run, Denver would get the best player in the deal and Phoenix would save money -- its usual priority.

The trade suggestions are way off the wall to the point where they do not make sense for the Suns or the other teams. I think some writers were throwing mud to see what sticks.

Alright so with the Bucks trying to trade Bogut, and the Suns having one of the best medical staffs in the NBA and OKC desperately needing an improvement at the center position.....

OKC trades Westbrook, Perkins, Aldrich for Nash, Gortat

Bucks trade Bogut, Jackson, Godden for Perkins, Childress, Aldrich

Suns trade Nash, Gortat, Childress for Jackson, Godden, Bogut, and Westbrook

Bucks get out of their horrible contracts, OKC gets a better team, Suns take on a lot of salary but get their future player in Westbrook and if Aaron Nelson can fix up Bogut, that would be a huge + too.

What do you guys think?

I think it would be a cold day in hell before OKC pondered that trade for even a second.

I dont understand why you would include Thunder with a HUGE trade... considering they are primed to win the West this year and perhaps the title...

If they were having a crisis as in losing many games and having Westbrook and Durant have issues... then you consider raising a trade offer...

at this point, Thunder has Westbrook and Durant playing very very well together.....

Suns should be looking at teams that need a piece to push for the ring...
- Magic is one...

but sadly Magic has nothing except future picks and hopes and dreams.

I love it when they say stuff like this, because you know Sarver reads it. He has too big of an ego not to read his own press. It might encourage him to do differently.

OKC is at tweaking stage. They arent trading Westbrook and I don't want to trade Gortat for Westbrook anyway. We dont know how good he really is without Durant.

What do you guys think of this deal?

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7ksypsl

Celtics get Gasol, Lopez
Suns get Rondo, Johnson, O'Neal
Lakers get Nash, Hill, Morris

Boston wouldn't really have much of an option at PG anymore but rumor had it before that they were willing to trade Rondo for Gasol straight up before. Maybe they can trade for Felton or something.

Rondo is playing exceptionally well right now for the Celtics. I don't think he is going anywhere unless he is trying to make himself more attractive to another team in a trade.

He's playing well but Doc Rivers can't handle his personality and Ainge is Rivers man so I think RR may very well be on his way.

Nash for Felton, Nolan Smith and a 1st rounder. Nash back in the Pac northwest with a decent team, Felton gets a fresh start and we get a 1st rounder.

Best trade option available.

I think Philly might be intriugged with an offer of something like Nash/Hill/Gortat for Young/Brand/Holliday/Vucevic or something.

Yeah right. There's no way they give up Holiday and Young for Gortat which is what that trade comes down to.

Don't think we should trade Nash - would rather try to reload one more time this summer.

And I think we let him walk before trading him, because we'll never get equal value (for what he brings/means to the team) for a one-year rental in a straight-up trade.

Only way I see a Nash trade now is as part of a big retool, involving other talent both coming and going.

Read inklings of this trade proposal (NJ/ORL/PHX) on another site and dismissed it at first. Then played some with the principles, and the more I look at, the more it makes me go 'hmmmm' in terms of meeting the needs of each team. Seeing other versions out there now, but here's my best guess for what each team would look for:

Suns out: Nash, Gortat, Childress
Suns in: Brook Lopez, Marshon Brooks, Mehmet Okur, Jameer Nelson

Magic out: DHoward, Jameer Nelson
Magic in: Nash, Gortat, Kris Humphries

Nets out: Humphries, Okur, Lopez, Brooks
Nets in: DHoward, Childress

Teams might need some other end-of-bench pieces, maybe draft picks, in the mix, but the basic setup above works in the trade machine.

Why?

Suns: If we move Nash, need to dive into the full rebuild. Childress is not worth his contract to us, esp in a rebuild scenario. Gortat is a complete stud, but he's 28. He's in his prime and will be for 4+ years. B. Lopez and Brooks are early 20's. Lopez is more obtainable cause of his foot issues - Suns Training Staff FTW. Sign Batum in the off season. Find a young PnR PG (bring back Dragic?). Outcome? Get a real young center to build around - those are few and far between. Brook sure can score. He's a horrible rebounder, but you get another dirt worker at PF to go along with Markieff. Okur is $10m expiring, maybe wavier him. Jameer is our price of doing business. He has another year at too much $$. But we need a PG, so try him out and look to trade in offseason, or keep for a year. Trade machine says Suns are -4 games with this move.

Magic: If they know they are losing Howard, they have a decision to make - blow it up and rebuild, or salvage what they can. If they could blow it up, they probably would. Trade for BLopez or Bynum and start trading guys in the offseason. The problem is their roster and the contracts. Otis Smith has a ton of veterans on multi-year deals, most making too much $$ for their individual trade value. If they lose Howard, they are screwed. Worse salary cap purgatory than the Suns a few years back. Solution? Bring in veterans who can help them win now without Howard. Enter Nash & Gortat. Add them and Humphries to the current Magic (who are half former Suns) and they are still a playoff team out East. Nash revives their shooters, Gortat and Humphries rebound and defend. Probably can't win a title, but could go deep in the playoffs for a few years until all the contracts are up. Nash gets another shoot at a ring, and Magic keep filling their arena to cover that payroll. Trade Machine says Magic are +4 games.

Nets: They get Howard and DWill to open the arena in Brooklyn. Nuff said. Lopez is the prime trade bait, but they have to pony up since Magic are not sending Turk's contract to them. They take Chilly instead. Okur and Humphries are expiring and are the price of making the salaries work. Trade machine says Nets are +6 games even losing all those players (surprising).

So, totally pie in the sky, but it's late and the trade deadline is approaching. Have to have some fun given the blah that is this short season.

TBlasim, if the Suns are getting rid of Nash and Gortat in the same trade they had better be getting a boat load of picks or some young very tasty talent. I just dont see it in that trade.

Before Brook Lopez got hurt he was averaging 6 rebounds per game and he is a turnstile on defense... and he is due an extension where because he is 7 feet tall he will undoubtedly get drastically overpaid.

Marshon Brooks is a decent young player but I just dont see a big upside with him. He looks like a run of the mill, average SG.

I like the thought and creativity, and I like how it doesnt involve Nash going to the Lakers, but I dont think giving up Gortat, a very reasonably priced and very talented true center, is worth reuniting the Lopez sisters.

On that note... doesnt "Robin and Brook Lopez" sound like the name of some twin sisters in a sorority?

Id do that trade in a heartbeat.

Curiously about Portland, their point margin, a stat that is supposed to be a very strong indicator of success, is the 2nd best in the entire conference, 5th best in the league, yet they're 10th in the standings. I'd bet they will make a strong push in the 2nd half.

with who?! a late lotto pick like Markeef Morris, Robin Lopez and Earl Clark? Or the bevy of impact FAs... which don't exist? how do you expect this team to reload this summer when most of the top tier FAs have been resigned by their own teams and we're nowhere near Dwight Howard's radar?

Its the "one more time" part of that statement that I cannot agree with. This team has to completely reload for the future. If Nash sticks around it will be as a bridge to a new, younger nucleus that will last beyond Nash. The last hurrah thing is already done. There is no "one more time" about it.
