Sergio Rodriguez, 6'3, 170lbs, $817,000 with 1 more year on his contract.

How about Rajon Rondo? Nate Robinson? Or for that matter Luol Deng?

I don't know how the Suns are thinking. Are they waiting for a buyout, looking at a FA already out there or perhaps a trade using a second round pick in combination with the TE to bring in a player? The Suns might even use the Atlanta pick for the right player or could even try the 10 day contract on a player until the trading deadline. I don't have the answer and maybe the Suns are justing biding their time but I do think they want a contributor or they could plug anyone into this spot. If the Suns didn't realize it enough already, this is their window. The expectation for a Championship is now with the acquisition of Shaq. Sarver may be more of a gunslinger than the fans thought.

I'm not suggesting Sergio just because we drafted him and traded him away.....I'm suggesting him because we need a backup PG that plays a similar style to Nash, is cheap and probably is available.

We sure agree about this one. Also Khryapa has some nice inside moves which is why he caught my eye in the first place. He is not uncomfortable negotiating in traffic underneath the basket.

i don't think ross is available, is he? the clips might want to hold him until livingston comes back. when he does, they can evaluate if he's going to fully recover and what not before they trade ross away. and besides, isn't ross a poor defender?

Ross is a defensive specialist. They always try to match him against Nash when they play Phx.

Right now, he's not playing for them; not sure whether he's hurt or just doesn't fit, now that they need so much offense from their swing spots. Either way, he'll be a free agent at the end of the year.

Pietrus is in the last year of his contract and is making $3.5 million, which is about the same cost to us with his pro-rated salary & luxury tax costs. I don't think I'd want to trade the Atlanta pick for a 4-5 month rental on Pietrus. If the Suns are really interested then they might be able to sign him for the mid-level exemption ($5.5 mil?) this summer. I'd rather not trade the Atlanta pick because the guy we pick up probably isn't going to play a whole lot. I'd be happy if we could get a guy that could fill a 8-9th spot on the team and push either Pike or Marks to the inactive list.

Atlanta is currently ranked #11 by worst record, they had a good record in the first half of season, but losing badly recently. My guess they will probably end up at top 10 in draft. It is too valuable to give up.

This is interesting. If we offer our trade exception, it is the best deal GSW can get financially, the Mavs and the Heat have can only give expiring contracts. Really like Pietrus to join us.

but we don't want to pay double money for Pietrus' servise. And Mavs are too loaded at 2/3 anyway so that I don't think they'd be giving up any of their players to get him.

Pietrus:
Outstanding athletism.
Very Good defender. I saw him as a future lockdown defender but it looks like his willing to be considered as a legitimate offensive option make him less focus on defense (his biggest mistake IMO).
He can use his athletism to grab a fair amount of rebounds.
On offense, he is a consistent corner 3s shooter. his athletism makes him a very good open court player. In the half court he is not very good. He is an average (to poor) ballhandler and passer.
His midrange game is very limited.
Unable to create his own shot.
Low basketball IQ.

I believe he should try to become a "Bruce Bowen" kind of player (Defense and 3s + finish in transition). If he accepts that, he could turn into a really valuable player.

Well, Pietrus wants a buyout because he is not getting enough minutes to be able to get a big contract from someone in the off season. He wants to increase his market value, and I don't know if he can do that in Phoenix unless he gets 20 minutes a game. Khryapa already signed a four-year contract with Moscow. You'd think that if he wanted to come to Phoenix, he would have waited a little bit. And Artest will be looking to go to a team that will potentially re-sign him to that $14M/year contract he is looking for. I doubt he would mind stopping in Phoenix for a title run, but he would be gone in the off season and the Suns are mainly looking for a backup to Hill, not a starter.
