I see a back up. He made some great passes but he showed me nothing which says he can sustain a long drive. Yes, he has a putrid OL which accounted for no running game and WRs who could not hold onto the ball but still, there was nothing fluid about drives with him and that is what a back up looks like in my opinion

He's a tailor made backup NFL quarterback. We should keep him.

I think he is going to be fine. I don't recall 1 time where we rolled him out of the pocket on a designed play call, which seems like BG is taylor made for. Our WR core is the worst in the league, complete garbage! Play calling is old fashioned and predictable and or OL is in shambles. Hiking the ball on hut 1 99.99% of the time, despite all this I think BG played well for his first start.

He looks like I would be comfortable with him being our backup for the next 5 years.

For receivers having skillet hands except for Fitz, I thought he did pretty good. I think he'd be a good #2 qb next year and we should cut Stanton loose. Draft a qb and who knows maybe Palmer comes back, but I doubt it......

solid back up, doesn’t have a lot to work with on offense though ...

He is what he is. A backup. There was a play where there was a clean pocket and he ran. All he has to do is throw it to Foster in the flat for an easy first down.

Id be mad if he didnt start over Stanton in the coming weeks to show me more, hes accurate and can move out of the pocket which you cant teach.

In his defense, hes had some crappy situations in the past. The Jags were a joke at the time and the Niners were even more so of a dumpster fire when he was there. Put him with a good running game, good system, and good receievers and I think he has a ceiling.

All things considered, I came away impressed with the kid. If we didn’t drop 6 passes, we win that game & he’s the star of the game. If I were SK, I’d bring back CP for 1 more season, draft a QB in round 1, cut Stanton, and have Gabbert back up CP. If injuries play out like they usually do with us, our QBOF will be starting by game 10 next year.

We're going to f around and not draft a QB. They will tell us they got who they wanted and the opportunity didn't present itself.

The impression I got was Gabbert is a better QB when the team has the lead and if they fall behind he presses which results in him not going through his normal motions. Once the team got behind his throws started to get behind receivers. If he can overcome this, he may have a future at some point.

Pretty darn good for what he was working with. Stanton can go now. It will be interesting to see who plays next week.

If i were Gabbert there is no way I would come back to Arizona as a backup. He will have much better options. Even Jimmy Johnson on FOX was touting his talent. There is no question in my mind that he has the best arm and quickest release of the 3 QBs. Probably the most accurate, as well. And, he's by far the most mobile. What he needs is a coach who is willing to stick with him as a starter. He's got to get out of the bad habit of throwing under the sticks on 3rd down. But, with the right coaching and in a system that he doesn't have to re-learn every year, this can be corrected.

I liked what I saw, but I don’t think anyone is saying we don’t draft a QBOF. I’ll be pissed if we don’t draft a QB, preferably in Rd. 1. Maybe round 2. But stop wasting picks drafting QB’s after the 2nd round. Just stupid to do that.
