I paid the same amount for this ticket as I did for the pre-season games against the A'ints and the Donks...but this one is worth more.

If the Cards trash the cowpies this Sunday, it will be priceless.

If the Cards choke and crash; I will ask myself why I do this to myself, as usual.

But selling the ticket? Maybe the pre-season games, but even then I am so hard up for Cardinals football...it would be tough.

dcr - I guess to me you come off as the typical casual fan. You go to the games, but honestly if something else came up or you were offered a pile of cash - you're not there. The games are televised anyway, yada, yada, yada.

I say this not to brag or anything but I have only missed two games (both preseason) since the Cardinals came to Arizona (both were due to deaths in the family - and both times I made sure the tickets got in the hands of other Cards fans (AzCards21 and Skkorp, respectively)).

I'm going to the game Sunday. I've never considered selling my seats. You'd have to pry them from my cold dead hands to take them from me.

congrats on being the best fan in the world! do you want a cookie? ;)

honestly, calling ANYONE on this board a casual fan is laughable. We're all insane Cardinals fans. Who the hell would actually waste A LOT of time on a board about one of the worst franchises throughout all of sports history if they were a casual fan.

just because they don't literally live, breathe, eat, die and poop cardinal red doesn't make them casual.

Says the guy who doesn't even wear red to the games when he does attend. :D

yeah, it's just football. i guess paying for an airline ticket or driving 6 hours and paying for gas money to go to the games and screaming my head off just isn't enough support for some people who need everyone to be "that guy" who wears the band's shirt to the concert they're going to.

again, y'all take this too seriously.

You'll have to expand on this thought for me. I'm not saying that there isn't a financial aspect to going to a game. But there is a difference between "selling" something and "selling out". Giving up a season seat to an opposing fan can easily be classified as the latter.

Ok, I will. People place value in all sorts of things. The value of those things can be either sentimental or based off of supply and demand. A jeweler probably won't pay you as much as you think your wedding ring is worth. To some, sentimental value is worth more. To some, monetary value is more important. If your value on a specific item is different than someone else. Who cares?

I was talking about those with tickets (the discussion was about Whis and the fans selling their seats/loyalty).

Again, If a Cards fan wants to buy my ticket for 8X face value, I'd sell it to him vs. a Cowboy fan. The offer is still out there azsouthendzone.

I didnt figure you value my opinion that much is evident.. But like I said.. Whether others say it or not, they are thinking the same way I am about you...

And I'm still ok with it. Other people have the side opinion that I do too. Really, who cares if someone has a different opinion than you do.

It's Caridnals football. Some of y'all take this way too lightley. If someone can sink so low to sell out to opposing fans even for a week, I see a huge problem with that.
Gee! You may want to watch out for asteroids or runaway buses because you and I are in complete agreement on this.

I think if you consider it "just a game" or place nothing more than monetary value on having a season ticket to your favorite team, you are indeed less of a fan. Simply because there are fans who are at a higher level of dedication and interest. Those are the fans that Whis ideally wants.

He doesn't want the fan base to assume selling their tickets is no big deal. I'm sure he would understand if a fan was in truly dire circumstances that it would be acceptable to sell but the problem is, I bet most of those fans haven't been selling their other possessions first. People hesitate to sell their "valuables" and if a season seat is just a used t.v. to you, then you can't be expected to be considered in high regard.

Give me 8x face value and I'll sell them.

I won't feel any less of a fan watching this game from home on my HDTV either.

I like how you feel the need to throw in the "HDTV" thing. You won't feel like less of a fan because you aren't really that much of one to begin with. There will be many Cardinals fans all over the valley watching on TV who truly could not afford season tickets and can't afford to go. They are real fans. Instead of looking at it like you are lucky to have season tickets, and you were lucky enough to attend for such a good price, to see the team you allegedly love, compared to those buying from scalpers, you look at it as a business move. That speaks volumes. Reminds me a lot of the many people who bought homes to flip. either way, you just love to stir the pot. It makes you feel special on here.

So what should I call you? A fan with a complex?

I'm going to the game too. The only difference is that I have considered selling my tickets. A TON of us who are more than casual fans (thank you very much) have considered it too.

No joke. There are more things important to me than Cardinals football. I've been a Cards fan as long as I have been in Arizona and as long as I have cared about football.

It's ok that you have your opinion. It's ok that I have mine. Telling me that my opinion is any less valid than yours, or that I am less of a fan than you is what I have a problem with.

So your saying your opinion of my opinion is wrong, thus by you trying to enforce your opinion over mine.. Oh nice.. Hypocrite..

Put your money where your mout his DCR. List them on Craigslist for 8x the face value. Let's see if you get a bite. I just don't believe you and I think you are just to playing Devil's advocate. Prove your point.

And I don't know why it upsets you to be called a casual fan. You ARE a casual fan of the Cardinals. BIM may be a crazy obsessed fan. BFD.

Let's not get too existential. I mean, all we are is dust in the wind but in terms of this conversation, let's use your wedding ring example. If you're not married it won't hold any water but what multiplier to you put on it's value? I'm sure you're just trying to illustrate the practicality of it all but would you sell your wife's wedding ring and then expect her to accept the financial rationale of the decision? Whis and Warner want people to truly value their season tickets in a similar way.

I don't think it's valid to argue selling an item for 8X it's secondary market value because in this context I think it is assumed by those involved that a ticket to a Cardinals game, especially a relatively rare important, meaningful game is much more than a used toaster. The multiplier is also irrelevant because it's the act, not the amount that is the issue. You've offered 8X as an unquestioned and obvious selling point but what's really the difference between that and 1.5X? Or 3X? It all boils down to selling your place and it's allegiance in the stadium that week to the opposition.

If I could not make this game I would rather give my tickets to a Cardinals fan than sell them to a Cowboys fan. I'd rather eat them than sell them to a Cowboys fan.

Last year there were tons of people who sold their tickets to Steelers fans, both in my Section and all over the rest of the stadium.

The looks on their faces when they lost were priceless.

I would like nothing better than to think that there will be a boatload of Cowboy fans, who paid an outrageous amount of money for their seats, sitting there this Sunday with the same look on their faces. :)

No, I'm saying that it is ok for both of us to have the opinion. I never ones said that your opinion is wrong, you guys did. Again, the problem that I have is you guys saying that my opinion is wrong and I'm less of a fan.

I'm an out-of-towner so take my two cents for it's worth, 2 cents. But to me this is probably one of the TWO home games all year I would most like to see, the season-ender with Seattle being the second.

Does the scale of the game's importance and the opponent mean anything at all to the resellers?

One, because it is against the rules of the site. Two because it is not true. Simple enough.
