Imagine you just bought a TV for $1000, and someone offers to buy your TV for $5000, do you do it?
This assumes a meaningful home game vs. Dallas is the equivalent of a household appliance.
Show me a Cardinals fans willing to buy my tickets for the going rate and I am more than willing.
Going rate or ticket price? If one values the Dallas fan's money more than the Card's fan, then that's part of the problem. No one's suggesting eating the ticket but selling it to the opposition should be unthinkable for a season ticket holder.

To say that you can't see one point of view (like Whiz said) is myopic.

Not really. I think he sees it as selling your loyalty. I think that's what he cannot understand.

He and the team are trying to develop a home crowd that wants to be at the games, wants to support this team, etc...not a fan base that'll sell out because a big team is rolling into town.

Forget that he's a millionaire. Take the money out of this. He can't see Cards fans giving their seats over to Cowboys fans. That makes no sense to him.

If you're a Cards fan this should be the one game you wouldn't miss for anything.

Selling your tickets to the opposing fan, especially the cowboy fans, is treason.. I can not for the life of me understand why anyone would even entertain this idea.. Bad economy, supply and demand, any of that crap.. I dont care.. Its treason.. You need a check up from the neck up..

You are dead on BIM. DCR is playing devil's advocate as usual. Nothing new here. I just wish you would put your money where your mouth is and sell off your tickets. Show everyone that you really believe what you say. But take it a step further and sell the Giants game and Monday Night Footballl as well. Supply and demand. Economics. Bla bla bla. Go ahead and sell out. You can always blog on here come Sunday.

So there can only be 63,400 fans of the Cards? All the fans that can't make it for whatever reason aren't Cards fans?

You can't take the money out of this, because it is part of the equation. I don't see many (if any) Cards fans selling their tickets to Cowboy fans for face value.

If someone wants to buy my tickets for 8X face value, I don't care what team you root for, I'll sell you my tickets. I'd prefer to sell to Cards fans. Who wouldn't? It doesn't make me any less of a fan.

This shows that there are economic decisions that go into tickets and going to games. I'll bet you that most people that buy the tickets chose the seats that they got, at least in part, due to how much they cost.

Give me 8x face value and I'll sell them.

I won't feel any less of a fan watching this game from home on my HDTV either.

It does illustrate what you place value in though. Contrary to the old axiom, I can definitely say that some things don't have a price.

Well, thank goodness I won't lose any sleep if you consider me any less of a fan.

You'll have to expand on this thought for me. I'm not saying that there isn't a financial aspect to going to a game. But there is a difference between "selling" something and "selling out". Giving up a season seat to an opposing fan can easily be classified as the latter.

I was talking about those with tickets (the discussion was about Whis and the fans selling their seats/loyalty).

it's just football. some of y'all take this way too seriously. if someone can lessen their economic worry in times of financial disaster for even a week, I see no problem with that.

again, it's just football.

Sure it does. I have no problem admitting it either. It's not like I would be missing the game by selling my tickets. I'll be at home, screaming in front of my TV.

Other people have expressed the same sentiments as I have. I do have a price for my tickets. It is probably more than most people will pay, but there is a price. If I don't get my price, I wouldn't sell. I'm not even trying to sell my ticket. If someone off of the street offered me 8x face, I'll sell.

It's Cardinals football. Some of y'all take this way too lightley. If someone can sink so low to sell out to opposing fans even for a week, I see a huge problem with that.

Again, it's Cardinals football!

dcr - I guess to me you come off as the typical casual fan. You go to the games, but honestly if something else came up or you were offered a pile of cash - you're not there. The games are televised anyway, yada, yada, yada.

I say this not to brag or anything but I have only missed two games (both preseason) since the Cardinals came to Arizona (both were due to deaths in the family - and both times I made sure the tickets got in the hands of other Cards fans (AzCards21 and Skkorp, respectively)).

I'm going to the game Sunday. I've never considered selling my seats. You'd have to pry them from my cold dead hands to take them from me.
