Hoist the Lombardi Trophy
Just needs to catch better thats all.
something he had no problem doing in college so I will say the kid is overwhelmed coming from a small school & very nervous. He will be a good one in a few years.

You guys talking about Roberts getting cut are nuts. Won't happen gentlemen. This was one preseason game. This kid definitely has the ability to be a Steve Smith (NYG) type receiver in this league.
he had an uncanny ability to be open. Just needs to catch better thats all.

Thanks AJ! Can we make it Perma ban?No it isn't. Dockett played a handful of snaps on the first series. You are trolling, so I'm going to ban you for a bit.

I agree with you at this point in the preseason. However, Whiz has shown he's willing to cut a third round pick if he has to. Roberts needs to pick it up a bit to be safe.
You guys do realize that Roberts
was targeted that many times because he was juking his man out of his shoes all night right?? He's halfway there. The kid has shown that he has great hands before. You can see in his eyes he is just a little starstuck right now IMO.

There are 2 problems with this argument.
1) Fist off Roberts was drafted as a PR, and all I have seen him do is drop punts in training camp, or fair catch. I have yet to see him return one.
2) S. Williams and Komar don't seem to have hands issues. The UDFAs seem to be outperforming him at this point.
I don't understand where people get the idea that Roberts was drafted only to return punts. The kid was drafted as a receiver, who could also return punts.

Shane, Chris, you ever see this guy return one in a Cards Uniform?
At the game, this guy in the row behind me kept saying, "Line - heart". Annoying as hell.
Yes, you are correct and I didn't really state my post well.
The idea was that Roberts was drafted to be a receiver that could also return punts, so that Breaston could focus on being the #2.
He had really good days and really bad days if you read the camp reports.

Feely tends to choke in the clutch much like Rackers did, but great when the games not on the line.
It's already been said a couple times, but seeing that scud of a field goal attempt by Feely gave me a real sinking feeling in my gut
Feely tends to choke in the clutch much like Rackers did, but great when the games not on the line.
If I recall, the reports on Feely were that he doesn't have the BIG leg but that he was dependable from about 40-45 yards and in. And could make those clutch kicks. The missed field goal was about a 50 yarder.
THIS!!!!!!!!!
Yes Andre Roberts was not drafted just to be a punt returner, but his ability to return punts was one of the reasons for his perceived value as a pick.
I am sorry to say this, but if you are drafted to be a receiver and a punt returner, and you can't return punts or catch a football, you are a disappointment no matter your potential. Do I think that he gets cut? Not yet. But I of the mind that unless he starts to show improvement, the Cards may try and sneak him onto the practice squad. We are too deep at wide receiver, and have too much unproven talent at more important positions to keep a guy who isn't showing that he can play.
I will tell you who had a bad game. The people I was sitting next to at the game. You can really tell who the front runners are or who got free tickets and borrowed a cards fans jersey from. And there was a ton of them.
Some of the lines I heard that night -
"What number is Matt?"
"I heard that Dan Henderson guy is pretty good and is better then Matt?"
During the Cox question of the game of who was our 1st rounder "Andre Roberts"
That was just the tip of the iceberg.
