Why not (Suns) make a run for Bosh?

That's the thing, Melo might sign with a team before LeBron decides on whether or not to come to PHX. What do we do then?

Target Bosh or Kevin Love would make the most sense. What seems to be the general consensus is that LBJ is looking to continue contending for the title. If that is true, then it's likely the Suns brass is already engaging those guys.

Where is the love people? Haha

Love isn't interested in Phoenix so none of his people showed up. Or were we talking Courtney? Oh wait, you meant "the love people". It's still 1967 and they're still stuck in Haight-Ashbury.

no one in their right mind would refer to Green/Markieff as a part of a Big 5. And all reports are Bron wants to play with Melo. So if Melo's what it takes to get him, you get Melo. Period.

Casual NBA fans won't, sure ... I'm not saying they're stars, but they are both on the level of a Luol Deng / Pau Gasol player and if Miami signed one of them, people definitely would refer to them as the "Big 4"

I think when people hear "Big 3", they expect the rest of the team to be surrounded w/ min. salary guys - That won't be the case though. It seems a lot of people here are being influenced by the opinions of casual NBA fans who watched ZERO Suns games last year (and thus think the Suns aren't an option) - Their opinion should not be valued at all.

Any you're inside information is ... ?

The Suns just won 48 games, are young / improving ... would be able to surround him w/ the best backcourt in the NBA, would be able to surround him w/ the best "prospects" of any team going after him (by far), would surround him w/ the best bench of any team going after him, and our front-court has pieces he could definitely work with (Frye would be a great fit w/ Lebron ... Plumlee / Len would give him the most talented centers he's had since Cleveland) etc. ... Why are you so sure he won't come here by himself?

I think you might have gone a bit overboard with some of this but I basically agree with you. We could add Lebron and then add a bunch of other pieces in search of that perfect team but our roster with Lebron is a good enough starting point. That team would be no more flawed than the other contenders (IMO) and winning it all would probably just be a matter of how well and how quickly the pieces came together.

Okay, now that's funny. BTW, the proper response to my last response to you would have been "Shaddup Shutting up" or something like that. A universe without diehard Bugs Bunny fans would be a lonely place.

Interesting turn here, but the Pacers are interested in Dragic (I'm sure a lot of teams are, but this is out in public). So is there something on the inside that we don't know yet? Suns think Ennis is the answer? Bledsoe resigning only if Dragic is traded? Or are we really trying everything to get Lebron?

I just think it's a team interested in Dragic, not necessarily a team interested in moving Dragic. If I needed a point guard I'd put a call in to Phoenix too. I hope he's not available and I don't think he is.

The Pacers see that the Suns and Celtics have duplication at point guard, so they are probably thinking (foolishly) that they might be able to sign and trade Stephenson for one of them.

The only way he's going to leave the Heat is for a max deal, so if the Suns aren't prepared to offer that, there's no point even thinking about him.

This. The trouble with Bosh, IMO, is he doesn't seem to be an alpha dog - and I personally don't know why a team would pay $20M+ for a non-alpha dog. I might be wrong with my assessment, and I am open to new ideas, but I don't think Bosh is the droid we are looking for if it costs $20M+.

no they aren't. Gasol is a legit 17/10 guy as a starter and has been for years. Kieff has had one good season as a 6th man averaging 13/6. there's no comparison between those guys and what they bring to the floor.

and no one would compare Green (a one year wonder) to Deng who's been the exact same player for almost a decade.

I've detailed this too many times already to write again. but here's the nutshell...we're a one year wonder (who didn't even make the playoffs) and the franchise doesn't have a strong culture of winning right now. LeBron isn't putting his future in the hands of a bunch of guys who just all had career seasons without seeing if that will hold or not. He'd need another bona-fide star reinforcement to ensure he'll be able to compete at the highest level, especially in the West.

if this is true, the Pacers are completely out to lunch considering we have enough cap space just sign Stephenson outright...and then trade one of our PGs for another piece to add to him and Dragic or Bledsoe (if we choose to trade one)

Which is why said in the predict-the-suns thread, I said we'd pick up both gasol and deng.

The big 5 comment had me like wtf. They're are solid players but should definitely not be included with the word "big".

Interesting

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11175065/chris-bosh-eyed-houston-rockets-plan-b-carmelo-anthony

The Houston Rockets, if they fail to land free agent Carmelo Anthony, plan to shift their attention to trying to swipe Chris Bosh from the Miami Heat, according to sources close to the process.

Sources told ESPN.com on Thursday night that the Rockets -- while still holding out hope that Anthony will choose them after hosting him Wednesday in Houston -- have already let Bosh know how interested they are in bringing the Dallas native back to Texas.

Thursday's revelations that LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul, has fielded pitches from multiple teams this week in Cleveland for James' services appear to at least raise the possibility that the Heat's star trio -- which also features Miami lifer Dwyane Wade -- might actually be breaking up

I am sure we would go for Bosh if James decides to go somewhere else.

We are not going to get James and Bosh though. Not worth gutting our depth to also give Bosh a max deal.
In that case trading for Love is just so much better when we have to trade decent young players to make room anyway.
